Too much grinding?

Postby Alpha Stigma » 05 Jul 2014, 09:37

I'm currently a level 18 cleric and leveling is just the dumbest thing
I've been playing about 10 hours a day on avg since obt started and only got to level 18... that's retarded. Usually in MMOs it takes max 15 -20 hours to get to level 20. Obviously I'm not just grinding the whole time but mainly questing (maybe grinding would've been faster?) but still... 18 in ~40 hours is just...
I even tried grinding dungeons in a party at the water cave a bit at level 17 and 1 level took around 2 hours?
This game was looking good but I'm really starting to lose interest in it over these past few days. Maybe I'm just bad or playing a shit class or both.

Sigh... well... thanks for reading me bitching about this game.

Clerics are a tad gimped, because killing blows on enemies give double (if not triple) exp.... Try using a wand and get some wis to level with that way you can deal decent ranged damage in parties - you get a free skill reset in the kyoto skill line if you want to be pure healer later (though honestly hybrid seems better).

At about 20~ you can grind byakkou cavern in northern oousami plains, great exp per time.

Wands are really gimped in comparison to some of the offensive abilities you can get on staffs but anyhow, as Midnightmare said, Byakkou is a good location, but you'll want to get to Kyoto for better locations in the form of ankan(maybe use it to grab a level or 2 at around lvl 20-25 but it's outclassed by shinoda), gedoumaru (mostly for equips not really exp), and shinoda (this'll prob be your main place from 30-40).
And yeah, sidequests aren't really worth it for exp anyhow, some of the magas they give are really nice but it's kinda hit or miss (mostly miss).

Grinding eh? Since you're a staff user, you're supposed to find help on parties. Don't be shy, find a high level person to drag you all the way to Kaga. Oh maybe not Kaga instantly, but you get my point. The trick is to sit back, relax, and watch as your 5 man party kill everything for you while occasionally using Invigorate on the strongest and most sp-intensive person of your party.

The real grind starts when you get to Kyoto. But if you're lucky you can easily find a 5man party that would grind Shinoda on hard with you. You can also make your own chat group or join one.

Please, when you enter Kaga onwards, at least be able to cast invig IV/V/VI when you decide to leech. Please and Thank you.

I guess I'll give it another try.
Btw, I am kinda hybrid with 22 wis/34 mnd and I switch between wand and staffs in combat.
I'm also already in Kyoto since I was questing so much lol
