Using Skill Card

Postby PoorBowman » 29 Aug 2014, 15:20

Does anyone find this weird, that if you use a skill card it will RANDOMLY delete an existing skill on the weapon?

Why wouldn't they allow us to assign the skills ourselves neatly so that we have a good day playing the game?

It bothers me a bit because the skill card doesn't really come easy because u got them from the lucky boxes, which usually you would prefer to get soul egg or repair fairy or smith reset. You can also get to extract the skills from the previous weapon and put it in your brand new weapon, after you level it up to max.

So after jumping and going through all those hoops, suddenly, to use you skill cards, it turns out to be like freaking Russian roulette, where there is possibility that the skills that you just added would be erased on a whim. Leaving you totally speechless, because the time you spend to level up those skill for extraction took quite a lot of time and effort.

In the end, that very day, you couldn't go grinding because your brand new weapon suks tama, and also you are out of ryou.

Personally I think the 'delete random skills' thing kinda hampering your gaming experience, to the point that I felt that this game doesn't want me to play the game.

I know that this game have reduce exp rate and what not, but I don't really mind the grinding.. but seriously?
What kind of game that doesn't allow its player to set up its own skill arrangement?

it is most likely intended to give more value to high level weapons. its also a pretty good mechanic to prevent cooky cutter weaponbuilds or make them ridiculously rare and thus invaluable.

you also have no need to grab skillcards out of luckyboxes. since those are only rank 4 you may as well use rank 3 skill cards that you produced yourself. you only need to get rank 3 skills to level 21 to be able to extract a skillcard and thats really not to much to ask of a player. i produced multiple single skill weapons myself using this mechanic (or the numerous rank 4 skillcards out of boxes). of course this is alot more work once you start getting specific rank VI+ skills onto your weapon of choice where you would need luck with momotaro AND the skillcard placing in the right slots to get your weapon done, but thats what i meant with making high level weapons more valuable. because they arent just ryo, smelt buttons and treasure swords but a lot of work, too.

To prevent what now?
More like to prevent players from enjoying the game.
Dude, im not talking about grinding to get all those things. I'm talking about the end process where all your effort goes into the drain simply because you can't choose which slot to use. I mean if you can produce a kajillion skill cards, it still doesn't matter because a the end, the skill card will 'randomly' delete a skill slot.

This feature is actually the reason why i didn't go for support character, because during my early game i got myself a staff and a skill card, where the staff ended up having heal 1, heal 3, and sanctuary 1. That was the moment i had a hunch that whoever goes for support, is going to have raging pain in the ass later.

Even with my bow now, I only fully utilize 2 skills in my slot. Rapid shot and icicle arrow. The other one is a flying kick. Now let say I want to put White Peacock, but the possibility of the other 2 getting erased is unnecessarily there. Hence I can grind and produce a kajillion skill card for each three skills, but to get it into order like I want, rapid shot > icicle arrow > white peacock, is almost nigh impossible.

It takes on average 5.5 cards to get a combination of 3 skills you want rather than 3 if you could choose the slot, stop crying.
