Re: JP Onigiri Update Thread - Latest update 6/24

Postby SupremeTentacle » 23 Jul 2015, 18:04

First off, sorry for not updating this over the last couple of weeks. I was lazy/busy. Besides this update, I'm pretty sure the only major thing was another "The Warding" type dungeon, featuring a new typhon.

However, today, we received alooooooooooot of stuff, so I got out off my ass out of obligation.

EVERYTHING BELOW COMES FROM JP'S PREVIEW PAGES. IT IS NOT YET IMPLEMENTED, BUT WILL BE IMPLEMENTED SOON.

http://onigiri.cyberstep.jp/special/2015_summer_sasuke/

There's four major things, so I'll go in order

New partner, Sarutobi Sasuke
Image<--I would totally tap this.

Profile Some of the translation was slightly liberal, so that it would make sense and sound good in English.
Despite being a bright, carefree and cheerful young woman, her skills were one of the very best amoungst ninja. With these skills, Sarutobi Sasuke became one of the proud members of Sanada Yukimura's 10 braves.

Although she treats her missions like games, her loyalty to Yukimura was unwavering. She was often scolded by her colleague, friend and rival, Kirigaku Saizou because of how lightly she took everything.

She loves to have fun, and is always looking for something to play with. In fact, many of the ninpo (ninja techniques) that she used were in fact, derived from her playing around.

Although she was once a ninja affiliated with the Kouga clan, the techniques she invented were far too unique, causing her instructor, who was a master of Kouga techniques, to tell her that what she was doing could no longer be considered to be part of the Kouga Ninja Art.

One day, she got bored while in the middle of digging a pitfall, and ended up drawing doodling all over Sanada Yukimura's face, which got her in trouble, and punched, mostly punched.

Her origin is unknown, besides the fact that she was picked up by the ninja when she was a kid.

Since she hates the Tokugawa, she doesn't get along with Hattori Hanzou, one of the Tokugawa ninja.

Sarutobi Sasuke Arrives!
She's come here to do some investigation on behalf of Sanada Yukimura. You can find her at the Echizen highway near Kaga!

You can also obtain some SP Gacha tickets from her, so make sure to check it out.

Onigashima Summer Festival (2015)
There'll be another summer festival in Onigashima this year!

You'll be able to access a special version of Onigashima during the event. In this festive version of Onigashima, you'll be able to visit the department store... which was temporarily converted into a haunted house!

Image

This year, the theme of the haunted house is to collect charms! To be specific, look for the item "Cursed Charm", and collect them.

Image

But, be careful. It looks like people are spreading a few rumors about this haunted house. People are saying that you can end up entering rooms that not even the people running the haunted house know about... or something like that.

*Note that all images are still of the work in progress*

Achivement System
By completing certain tasks, you will be able to earn achievements in Onigiri now! By completing these achievements, you'll be able to earn various prizes.

Image

When you bring up the menu, you';ll be able to see all the achivements, including ones that you've completed, as well as ones you have yet to complete.

More achievements will be added in the future; please try and complete all of them!

Achivements will be split into several categories

Main: Mostly from completelying the story, and stuff
Ex. Logging into onigiri, reaching onigashima, etc

Sub: Lots of stuff with complicated conditions, though, the reards will be worth it.
Ex. Clearing all dungeons of a specific area on hell mode, etc

Daily: Short, easy ones that don't require much time, and reset every day at midnight in Japan.

Weekly: Takes more time, better rewards than daily, resets every monday @ midnight

Monthly: Takes even more time, better rewards than weekly, resets 1st of every month @ midnight

Youkai Summoning System (name not yet finalized)
Ashiya Douman, the inventor of one of the "Arts of Yin and Yang" happens to have decided to leave Kyoto and come to Onigashima on a whim. Because his technique is not yet complete, a Kijimuna is the only youkai that can currently be summoned, but more should be summonable in the future.

The youkai partner you summon will come with you on your journey, growing together with the player.

Image

You can speak to Ashiya Douman in Onigashima to select a Youkai to summon.

Image <-- This dude

After that, you pick the summoning card of the monster you want to summon. If you don't have any cards, then you won't be able to advance onto the next screen.

Image

After selecting the summoning card, you have to input stuff into 2 sliders, which decide the stats of the youkai you summon.
Image
After that, it displays the stats and apperaence of the youkai.

Image

The marker in the top left indicates what element the youkai is. Youkai deal more damage to things that are weak to their element. And yes, this picture shows you naming it.

You can view your youkai from a new tab in the main menu as well.

The next step is to train your youkai. They gain EXP when you kill other youkai. Like with players, they gain status points when they level up. Youkai can also learn skills when you use their status points.

Because of the potential hidden away in these youkai, the requirements for raising a stat will rise as that stat rises, just like players. By pressing a certain button, you're also even able to let them gain EXP even when they're not coming along with you!

Image

Whether you choose to use their status points on skills, or their actual stats is all up to you as the player!

You can normally have three, but this can be increased if you spend OC.

Image
The youkai summoning system is still in development at this point in time, and they're preparing to have it completed for an update sometime in the future.

It's possible that you could also summon different youkai, or make your youkai stronger through the use of some rare materials...

Allowing your youkai to fight other people's youkai is also something that's within the realm of consideration.

Naturally, the kijimuna will not be the only summonable, and therre will be others in the future.

Take your youkai along, and enjoy your adventures in Onigiri!

Image

*all images are still of things that are in development at this point in time, and not yet final*

Also, have a Kaguya.

Whoever provided the suggested levels for The Warding needs a good hard slap. I attempted the Hail Tiamat Normal one with my main. I thought Level 10 would be a breeze for my Level 48 Daring. Nope. I was absolutely destroyed, wrecked and violated in every orifice. I didn't get further than the first Gankubi. If a Level 48 Daring can't do it, how in the holy hell is a Level 10 meant to?I'm not attempting The Warding again until I hit Level 75. No way I can beat it before then. At least Dagger's Peak seems more realistic. A Level 10 could probably complete that. Might be a struggle in places, but possible, unlike The Warding.

.....I hope you do realize, level means absolutely nothing right? Your damage is static whether you're level 10 or level 115. It's meant to be a "hard" dungeon that you couldn't breeze through. And if you died on the first mob, Wow.

The damage you deal is static and the damage monsters deal is a % of your hp. Your level makes absolutely no difference. A level 1 and a level 115 are the exact same in those dungeons. Plus, you're supposed to do those dungeons with a party anyways and they're MEANT TO BE DIFFICULT (Although they're really not). Also, isn't the first Ganbuki like... the 2nd room?

I get that it's meant to be hard, but with every single other dungeon (including Dagger's Peak) the recommended level is accurate to the dungeon's difficulty. Hell, with Daiku Cave it recommends a higher level than necessary. The Warding is the first dungeon I've encountered where the recommended level doesn't match the actual difficulty of the dungeon. I wonder how many other players have attempted The Warding thinking it would be easier than it actually is? Pretty sure I'm not the only one.

And yes, the Gankubi do appear in the second room. I scraped through the first room well enough, though I came close to death a few times and had to heal a lot, but that first Gankubi didn't want to die. Put a few good hits into him before he trampled all over me. My health vanished before I could even try to eat.

Well.... did you even read or understand what Ryxa replied with... but in anycase just party up for the dungeon, it shouldn't be that hard with a party.
