Sp is hardly a problem for higher levels

ex 85+19 MND and my holy pillar 5, holy light 5 and rolling thunder 5 all have around base 90 sp cost (40-60 if you count my secondary WIS status points)

The problem with being an attack healer (at higher levels) is the fact theres hardly any aoes and too many staves that will Healing skills>attack skills, the pure dmg output is fine

An example is Urev(67), who hits roughly 20k with a lv 6 soul strike, however the skill is single target and has at best 1m range

Both of our rolling thunders hit 3-4k a tick for 5 ticks 4m AOE but we are practically sitting ducks

Chase Blister is overall the best skill, but the range of the homing is very small, and requires the user to stand still to do all the casts which pretty much means your risking close quarters

The best advice I can give to any healer is to stick with the heals and buffs until your lucky enough to come across 4-7 rank skills, because your attacks wont do much and soloin takes considerably longer than a party
but the good news is your dmg will still be near everyone elses if you build properly ^^

I'm pretty happy with my build even though still lacking the damage/seconds though...>_< ; perhaps I'm more suited to atk type rather than support type.

Anyway, I beat Ahriman with this wand without mushiro magatama, since I just finished the kaguya quest beforehand :

I think my build is wrong...it should be full mind :( :(

... If your high ranking skill isn't healing as much as you'd think it should be, it means either your skill level isn't very high or you don't have the stats to use that skill yet. For instance, I had a weapon with cure IV at level 19 and I found that I was only healing people for ~200 HP with it (about the same as my heal I). After putting some more points into my MND stat, it suddenly started healing for 1.2k. In other words, if your stats aren't high enough for the skill, it WILL flop on you and the best part is, the game won't tell you it flopped.

Oh and Staff users don't really get much damage but meh first aid and energy ball along with chase blister + holy light means you WILL outlast your enemies. I soloed Ahriman at about level 21 and did nothing but run around it using chase blister and holy light while spamming energy ball and first aid after getting hit (had barely enough HP to avoid being getting 1-shot).

Ah, and for those of you that don't realize it yet, WIS reduces the SP cost of your spells for wand and staff so putting some points into WIS isn't a bad idea.

Edit: ah and I almost forgot to mention that I do agree that we should be able to target ourselves with our buffs :c. It's kinda depressing to buff your ally with Idaten's Grace and watch them zoom off into the sunset and you're sitting there going like "man I wish I knew how it feels to run that fast".

Edit 2: O.o what is this EXP reduction for not last hitting mobs you guys are talking about? I'm getting about 1.8k exp base (not including the 2x boost for 3 revives) per run of Byakko hell and I litterally have never attacked a single mob in Byakko hell EVER (because Cure/Invigorate/Idaten's Grace/Unbreakable Aura/Strike Boost all need to be reapplied at regular intervals)

You get a base amount of exp for just being in the pt/dungeon with the monster killed but actually being the one to last hit the monster will provide roughly 2 or 3 times more exp than the base amount assuming that you are both the same level and not using exp buffs.

The rate for those not getting last hit is 1/3 exp base and pool

Personally I love playing my pure mnd stat support, I can even do decent damage if needed. (This is a rare opportunity as I'm kept plenty busy will healing and buffing other people.) I have noticed that because I don't attack or kill things during grinds that I don't get as much exp as other people do but that's fine because even at lower levels many higher ranks heal skills are more dependent on staff affinity and mnd stat that the level of weapon I use. Leveling quickly would be nice so that I could boost mnd alittle more but overall I think the healers are a lot of fun.

I hope the developer hears us. I want our buffs to be able to support ourselves. And the SP cost for the buffs/all skills are reduced/ or the after skill delays.

-----

Anyway, if anyone see me, add me as group, I'm having difficulties doing Kyoto Quest.. need a lot of help from upper levels especially...
I have all the buffs needed.. Strike Boost, Idaten's Grace, Unbreakable Machine .. :? , Cure IV/V, Energy Ball and Invigorate.

Wishing someone Staff Users too, backup each other ( unlimited SP recovery ;) ), and we can buff each other.
Add me IGN : Lynneth (lv.27) now.
Sometimes I will use my overleveled Wands to do AOE damage.

Also, http://onigiri.wikia.com/wiki/Staff > Sheryl's Magnifying Glass is it Wand or Staff?
