Well aside from WDS eating alot of dura per cast, theres really no real disadvantage to spears. We get more dmg the more vitality we get, we have huge range with WDS. Can get Mnd as a secondary stat to raise our m.def and use support skills to leech whenever (and to use Rapid Storm so we can buff ourselves).

When upgrading a weapon, is it safe to leave the max dura at 0 until the desired + level? Like, just keep upgrading, ignoring durability losses, then use Tailor at the end to make the weapon usable.

Also, I'd like to know... what exactly is the disadvantage to spears? They do very comparable damage to other weapons, and they have that massive range.

They suck against anything that uses magic really or anything that has super long range...like those orange mage guys, cannon mushi monsters, peropero mirrors, huge birds, the purple magic guys in kyoto, mini reapers, and especially those one-eyed arm monsters. All of those would be much, much easier to defeat with a bow since you can attack from further away to pick them off easily without having to worry about them noticing you. Those are also monsters that are hard to group up and plow through with a wds.

yes solo hell mode by doing the infinite respawn, must be luck. all recipe can only be sold by those who have the vend item on the cash shop the one that lets you sell more than 3 items.

Yes, it is safe. You can't fall below 1 Max Durability iirc.

I think it's more that spears don't have a "niche" like other weapons do. They do well in most regards but, for example can't snipe certain enemies like bows, don't clear rooms as fast as swords and twin swords, have less AoE damage (but better actual area of effect) than wands, axes and odachi, and so on.
