I just checked Oguchi's shop, and there are a bunch of shapeshifting weapons. Are these really worth grinding for? What do these weapons do? Also, they were in the clothing section, so are they just for show and visual?

Yes, just visual. You might need them too bec they look pretty cool, but you should go for the mag recipe first.
