What grade of Weapon should we seek?

Postby Pion33r » 06 Jun 2014, 22:21

As of now I'm confused. So from the drops that has to be identify their is bronze, silver and gold and I assumed gold is the highest grade. But after you identify them they then have this symbols on the top right. Sometimes they are blue star, sometimes red star and sometimes yellow circle. I'm just lost at the moment of which weapon should I really seek. Can someone please explain?

the bronze, silver, gold just identifies how likely you are to get a good item.
as the weapons themselves, those without an icon are the normals (watch out for the low duras below/near 100 these are the complete trash), blue and red are both better than iconless weapons but often need higher levels to equips, and gold icons next to the weapon are the "unique" tier item I would say sporting the highest lvl requirement of the lvl set and having the highest attack until outclassed by a higher lvl weapon.
At least, that's a simple detail explanation, I can't really go into detail since I'm mostly just going from experience and I don't actually remember the difference between blue and red tier equips but one is slightly better than the other dmg wise.

A good way I look at it is that the 3 metals are like booster packs.

They each pick from a loot list based on where they dropped, bronze has a higher chance of commons and a low chance of rares. Silver has a higher chance of uncommon, about the same as common, and slightly higher rares. Gold naturally just pushes that more, higher uncommon/rare rates and lower common rates compared to silver. However, you can still get incredible items from bronze and shit from gold.

Those stars you see are the item's rarity, as far as I can tell, and orange/red seems to be the rarest type. The weapons are also somewhat randomized and two of the same weapon can have slightly different base damage (and skills naturally). Also, the rarer the item, besides base damage, they also seem to have better picks at skills (for instance, some uncommon/rares have the ability to pick elemental skills, but that's weapon-specific and not rarity, but I don't think elemental commons exist). Skills also tend to have higher grades, so you'll probably see at least 1 skill at rank 2 or more and higher rarities tend to have better skill grades on average.

That's what I've been able to tell from experience so far, and opening hundreds of items.

Grades are variations of a weapon.

more grades = more damage.

Just get 2 same weapon with diffirents grade and you'll see.

That being said don't rely TOO heavily on grade. It doesn't make as much of a difference as the skills do. Having say... A Nodachi with high damage low cost mana skills is far superior than say a nodachi with mostly single target skills.

Not to be that big of a dick but this question seems like an easy answer since often times you will get multiples of the same weapon. Look at the different grades and it's not that hard to see the one with the higher grade having a stronger attk range....
