Skill levelling

Hi everyone,

I'm not sure I've understood the way weapon skills levelling work the right way.

Is skill on a weapon levels separately than the same on another weapon?

Because I can see in my skill list similar skills but with different level status ; for example Leaping Strike I at lvl 10 and another Leaping Strike I at lvl 9. I'm pretty sure for this two they come from 2 weapons of different kind (a sword and an odachi), but I have some other skills with similar name for which I didn't payed attention.

I want to be sure if I change weapon for another of the same kind (eg an odachi for another odachi), I'll keep my skill evolution or not.

If I recall correctly each weapon type that share the same skill have to be leveled separately. Ie. I have a skill for dual wield at level 10. This carries over to all dual wields until you choose to extract it where it is reset to lvl 1. However the same skill on say, a nodachi will be still level 1 until you level up the nodachi skill. The variants of the sAme skills refer to different weapon types, but I don't recall if the skills label what type it belongs to.

Skill rank determine the maximum level you can have for the skill, while the skill level determine how strong it is. So a rank 1 skill have a cap level of 10, whereas a rank 2 skill have a cap level of 20, and a rank 3 skill has a cap level of 30. Rank 2 skill may cost more, but it is worth it once you level up the skill.

And yes, you can have the same skill for a different variety of weapons, hence why you see multiple of the same skill being listed. Sadly I wish they let us filter skill we want to track only, as well as the weapon type the skill is for.

Thanks!

So it's by weapon kind, nice!

I agree with you, it will be more easy to understand if they put something to help us differenciate skills by their weapon type (like, a column with weapon type or just one more line in the skill description...)
