Leveling?

Postby Krik » 19 Jul 2014, 18:09

My character is just barely level 7 but I can only get 2 quests; one is to go to Kishinden which the lowest level is for level 10, or to go to Kamaso Village which, at the moment, it seems I can not get to (I assume that because my level is so low). It seems a bit odd to be doing quests 3 levels above my level. I have noticed that I can kill things a bit over my level but, I have played several MMOs, and I am more accustomed to doing quests were everything is a few levels below my level. Am I missing some quests lines? Or is there some other part of the game I need to work on to get leveled up? I have looked all over the couple of zones I can get into and can not find any other quests so I am not sure what I have missed.

You'll get used to this. It's fairly common to be playing something far above your level.
Just as an example... at lvl 32 I was doing the quest where the dungeons normal mode was stated for 51+... Wasn't too bad.

As for quests... Mostly they seem to be for Items more than anything... as the Exp gained from them is quite low ( Thats just my opinion mind you ) and there really is too many of them.

Quests on your quest log on the right that are written in yellow are the main story quests, so long as you got at least 1 of those you are not missing any quest line as far as I can tell you.

What I suggest: go around Onigashima and the Rest Area, if you explore Onigashima fully at least I'm fairly sure you can find a few side quests you can add to the log. Just explore the areas and see what you can find.

Just to add to the last person post, the NPCs with the yellow "!" over them or on the map will give you the side quests. From what I've seen majority of them have multiple side quests you can do for them. So if you're in the area, just double check to see if you can do additional quest for some of the NPCs.
Other than that, just look for grinding parties at Kishinden. I've notice quite a bit of higher level players helping/hosting hell parties there, especially in channel 1.

Don't bother side-questing, they can take awhile to do and offer ridiculously low exp. Pre-20, the exp amount is alright, post-20 they're small, 35+ they're meaningless (about 1% level per quest). Stick to grinding dungeons, that's what you'll be doing most of the game. You'll end up 20-30 levels under your current dungeon if you don't dungeon grind.

Granted you don't need to grind till Kyoto as the content is doable at your natural level, Kyoto is when you need to start grinding though. Or at least so the content isn't overly difficult (or forces you to use overly cheap tactics).

If you're a solo player you should find your way around, if you're struggling I suggest you make some friends and be based on teamwork. ^^
