Sword vs Twin Blade

Postby Rehab » 30 Jul 2014, 02:43

I'm having trouble finding out what styles these two weapons play as. I understand Twin Blades offer higher DPS. What advantage does the sword have though? In games like this I tend to favor mobility. I figured either one of these two would offer that to me. If not, what weapons would you guys recommend? Thanks :D

Using a sword means you're putting points into Power mainly. Other Power weapons are axes and nodachis.

Using twin blades means you're putting points into Dex. The other weapon Dex is the bow.

Playing with a Power-based build means you will need to block often as the level gap gets huge and the bosses punish melee DPS.

Playing with a Dex-based build means you can switch between melee DPS and ranged DPS. With ranged DPS you can hit-and-run from a range and be less likely to be hit.

Playing with a Power build allows you to kill groups quicker. While with a Dex build, you take more time killing large groups.

Using a sword means you can hit harder at close range with other weapons if needed.

Using twin swords means you can switch between ranged and melee DPS.

Though this is just from my experience and I'm just a noop.

There isn't really a unique play style in this game, as far as tactics go
It's hit, dodge and run most of the time, and blocking when you need to.

As for the difference between Swords and Twin Blades
... One uses a single blade.. An-.. And.. The other uses two
Kidding.

I can tell you about the latter though.

Twin Blades:
Pro -
Fast hits, basic combo does great damage and generates sp quickly
High critical rate and critical force -> High DPS
Two skills for closing or creating distance rapidly(Lightning slash, lunge step)
Lower skill cooldowns

Con -
Short range
Most skills are multi hit skills
Melee multi hit skills are situational. A high risk of getting counter attacked
Low hp, low defense
High durability drain
