Suggestion: Grinding Hall Of (15 minute) Fame Via Awards

Hi All!

I don't know whether it's been brought up before as I'm new here and the search box here came up empty, but maybe one way to juice up grinding is for this blog to host a "Best Scores For Grinding Contests" type page for awards and honors at grinding tournaments, as temporary they may be. A list of high grinding achievers would really perk a competitive alternative in the game outside of dungeon quests (it is all supposed to be fun!). This should be relatively easy and quick to set up since it only involves creating a new page section in the blog and a Mod monitoring/timing the events in-game. These are just working idea and titles I'm sure can be improved on:

SuperOni: Player who sweeps grinding areas (and tally kills) in 15 minutes in each level back-to-back from level one to the topmost in the least time. (Of course it takes into account that many pro-gamers start level one characters, not being 1st time 1st time players like me!") :D

"Boss Owner": Who can put away a level Boss the quickest. Don't know how a Mod can check this thought, unless a party member maybe?

"Local Pest Sweeper" which tallies the most monsters slaughtered within ever shrinking periods of time per contest.

"Cross-Country Grinding Slaughter-fest": Same as "Local Pest Sweeper" except jumping to other grinding grounds after limited timed talley-kills in each grind area in map in total min time.

"Minimum Reincarnations Victor" award is self-explanatory, but I don't know how a Mod could check this.

"Close-Quarters Combat Grinding Ace". No wand, spells, bows. Just dirty hoof-to-toe claw-to-sword/axe fighting to tally up kills for an hour or so per each contest level spread, like lvl 1-15, or lvl 20-25, etc. Yes, it pushes just how flexible those are with high magic and bow strengths are! :D

"Damsel In Distress Take Down": Okay, it's a little silly sexist, but hey it's all voluntary and most every guy wants to be a knight rescuer! :D A mod plays an announced appearance female player having a hard time grinding at a designated time but unknown grind location, and points go for the gallant guy who tallies up the most monster hits over other guys trying to also keep her from being eaten.

These are just ideas to chew on but they're quick and doable without any need to bother game programmers. The whole point of anything is trying to make gaming fun! :D

How about staff-smacking boss contest? The fastest and no-death player only using staff without spells. Only smacking those bosses.

Requirement : MND stats minimum 70

Reward would be Lucky Boxes.

1st 1000x lucky boxes
2nd 750x lucky boxes
3rd 500x lucky boxes

Cool idea!! But I forgot myself that grind areas don't have bosses, so scratch my "Boss Owner" idea I guess  . Then, are there top high-lvl monsters within a map's grind areas whose power can count as one? :D But does a Mod monitoring the event have the authority to grant Lucky Boxes to make this work? :?

Not necessarily for grinding but for the whole game, having a scoreboard and award for the highest level and score anyone's achieved in Onigiri without spending a penny! :D

If I may miss Leafey, let me try give you an better ideal , rather then Lynn's.

There be section for all users, Spear, bow, staff, sword, duel sword, and ect...

This will split down an list of players who specialize in each weapon , and allow player all using an single type rather then reset for the prize they desire (I.E a level 80 do skill reset to enter an weapon like staff just to blow it away with easy wins).

Also their have to be an Npc, that you have to register for the said event to take place , so you don't have last min changes/going from spear carry , to staff and win staff cause the switch.

So the Npc will be like " which tourny you wish to enter, and it list weapon types. Then the npc will judge the player level and say level xx dungeon + will give an count score.

This allow players to be like starting new , and questing, beable to enter the same time as a level 100+ and have an semi equal chance of winning.

Get what I am saying?

-----------

This allow player to be their class and follow their weapon style they like, rather entering for just prize, and the prize will be equal for all user/for their weapon types. So if the prize is magatama, their be an Magatama for each weapon in that role. or like lucky boxes the same amount meaning it the same for all.

One excellent idea! It'd stop too much whining and make gamers more skillful. Take it to Suggestion Box! Ditto Deathy's ingenious solution to recycle game structure! VERY Creative!

They have actually done something similar to your suggestions in their recently released fireworks festival (event that's coming to us in a hopefully near future, should be this month)

Although the concept is different they do have an equalizer system applicable.

Basically in the festival one of the things you can do is this challenge clear for the haunted house.

You will get a couple quests for the dungeon from the npcs near the entrance.

One of the challenges is Clear Hard mode with a clear time of 4:15 or under. (You can clear the dungeon with multiple people and still have it count)

To equalize the event between all levels, they give everyone the same weapon (a talisman which attacks similarly to a staff for basics but has evade warp, a buff, and an offensive skill) which does the same amount of damage to all enemies.

They also haxed the mob damage to oneshot everyone; if you get hit, dead, no questions asked or allowed.

If they apply that concept to your ideas, it wouldn't be too far-fetched to have something like what you guys are suggesting and having it achievable regardless of level.
