Is there a limit on the number of characters you can play as? I currently operate five characters, but I'm thinking of adding two more to the roster if possible. If not, it's no big deal, I was just curious if it caps at 5 characters or whatever.

Pretty sure it was 6 characters to an account.

6 characters? Darn, that makes things difficult. Now I have to choose between the two I wanted to create.

Never knew making another account would be difficult...

Making another account isn't difficult, but the character made would not be connected to your main account, which makes character selection a pain since you would need to switch accounts instead of cherry picking at the character selection. Additionally any oc you have/purchased would not be on that new account for use which makes making a new account an unfavorable action tbh.

Multi-accounting isn't my scene, and it's usually a ban-able offence in games. I'll stick to the six I've got now on my current account. That still works for me. The only real reason I wanted 7 characters anyway is to have one for each day of the week. Well, it's no biggie having six instead. If you're interested (but probably not):
Monday - Magic Maelstrom
Tuesday - Midori Tsukino
Wednesday - Warlock Warlord
Thursday - Virtual Demon (my main)
Friday - Loli-Yangire
Saturday - Dancer Lancer
Sunday - All characters (about an hour of play per character most likely)
The reason I'm doing this is because on my old routine, there were five days a week when I could only devote 30 minutes per character due to work, and two days when I could go longer, to around an hour. This new system allows me to play each character in 2 1/2 hour sessions, except on Thursday when my main gets up to six hours (if I feel like it, more likely 3-4 hours though) and on Sunday when each character gets about an hour. You can't really accomplish much in 30 minutes, especially if you're dealing with a lot of player traffic, so this way I get stuff done now.

I can guarantee you that the Onigiri terms and services don't say a word about multiple accounts. It does say stuff about selling your account(s) because your account is "intellectual property" of Cyberstep but that's it. Maybe I didn't see it or it's in some other T&S but it's not in Onigiri's.

Whether it is or isn't makes no difference in the long run. Multi-accounting is more hassle than it's worth really.
