Onigiri Discord Server!

Let's see... I shall start off with the fact that I have absolutely, completely, totally, utterly no idea where to post this topic. So I figured General Discussion would do.

Well, let's start off with a long introduction. So I came across many different gaming communities over a long time, and found that most of them have relay servers detached from the game (where anyone could communicate freely anywhere). This spiked my interest as these relay servers are usually (if not) better than in-game chatrooms. With much research, I found that most of them use either IRCs, Skype, or Teamspeak. The downside to these however, was that some required some kind of payment or subscription, one which I would not really prefer for a small chat with random people.

Then came along an alternative, Discord. At first glance, it looked like a ripoff from IRCs. But further using it in other communities, I found that it's not just that, but a total ripoff from both Teamspeak and IRCs. The good side to this solution was that it's free and relatively easy to use.

Now back to topic.

Recently, I've just started to play this game, and found it to be quite interesting (possibly because it seems like a ripoff from Vindictus). However, there were not much players in spawn cities, and even if there were, they don't really talk much. Well, I figured that having a Discord server to link all the players together won't hurt... so there you have it!

Thanks for reading this long "essay", and I hope this experiment would prove to be a success!

I can't quite find the post but I think there was someone doing something similar recently. No hits for "Discord" so it may have been something else or it may have been deleted... no idea.

Hm... either ways, I'll just have to hope it goes well. My plan currently is to have at least 10 members active, and that would make a huge difference for a community-driven server detached from the game. Honestly, it's going well so far (considering it's still in a sense, less than a day).

Thanks for your interest in this topic though! Really grateful for that.

Happy hunting, Firon!

PS: What's your discord ID? (if you have one)

There aren't many people interested in joining a group when they already have group chat in game and facebook. People mostly stick to their little circles. Discord chat links are also temporary, not permanent, so you'll need to edit that post once every once in a while to change the link. Joined anyways though meh.

I see... that does make me slightly discouraged, but we still have chances of success in this experiment. Will still go on for who knows how long?
As for discord chat links being temporary, it's resolved, as there is an option which does not allow an invitation link to expire.

Well, I hope you enjoy your stay! Lastly, I thank you for your interest in this experiment of mine!

Happy farming, Ryxa!

I might be on there tomorrow occasionally, depending on my mood and what I'm doing. If I'm grinding (which I probably will be) then I might put my headset on and talk with my mouth rather than have to keep switching out of fullscreen. Of course, whether or not someone's on at that time is another matter.

Maybe your thinking of the chatango group? That's really old now though so I dunno.
