[Hell Mode] - A Guide to Survival

The following thread will detail some information regarding hell mode, pertaining specifically to the CBT, at least for now. Our goal is to go through every single hell mode, with priority directed towards main quest and grind instances, detailing how they can be cleared, and demonstrating this with a party of two players.

It is in currently progress, and will be completed over time.

THE BASICS
If you're not overleveled (like we are) learn to kite! It's seriously going to save you. All melee weapons pretty much kite the same way, but a few minor details have to be adjusted based on the speed and length of the weapon.

Here is how its done with Odachi: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KmUyoqGZMao

Training Grounds
Relative Difficulty: Easy
Estimated Level Required for completion: 5
This is a really simple dungeon. You simply progress straight forwards throughout. Killing all monsters is a mandatory requirement.

Monster list: Gloom Daruma, Great Gloom Daruma, Gaikotsu

Boss Info
Name: Kyoukotsu
Craftable drops: Sinister Bones
Estimated HP: 3,500
Leap strike
Self Buff
Will almost always jump after powerup.
Claw swipes - 1~3 reps before next action normally
Super quick ground smash (lethal) <-- often does it twice, so if you dodged the first one, still be careful!
Bite: Hurts like hell

Kishinden
Relative Difficulty: Mid
Estimated level required for completion: 5 ~ 9 (depending on weapon type of choice)
Linear path. There is a room where you will have to look for a key, but the better way is to basically kill everything anyways (for exp)

Monster List: Assorted Daruma and Great Daruma

Boss Info: Chief Daruma
Estimated HP: 10,000
Smoke Breath (Potential OHK)
Lethal damage quick kick
Fatness body slams (obvious)
Homing darubombs on higher difficulties
Damage immune buff on higher difficulties (kill the monster he spawns to break the buff)
Fart (if aggro'd person is behind him)

Random junk dungeons in Kikaigahara - these should be extremely easy and straight forward, but I'll post a video of speed runs later for those of you just want to see them. A few notes on the bosses...
Rock thing: Dodge, try to trade aggro
Crab: Bubbles are dangerous

Videos: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ksev0eayQbk

Sakurajima Depths (Tiamat)
Relative Difficulty: Mid-hard
Estimated level required for completion: 15ish
Monster List: Gama, Amagaeru, Stickies, Centipede things

Boss Info - Tiamat
3 waves of easily dodged fireballs (also you can use your summons as meat tank, as the fireballs hit 1 person each)
Spots of flame that burst from ground (lethal)
Tail swipe if person with aggro is behind him
Dashing attack
Forwards flame carpet
Jumping fireball barrage <-- the landing from this hurts like hell too
~15 seconds of flight while spamming fireballs. Moves around the map <-- only does this when low

General tips: Try to trade aggro, making him run back and forth. When he runs -> jumps, stay as far away from him as possible.

Boss Info - Momotarou
Tsurugi-Kaze Spam
Clones (3 in hell mode)
Dash attack
Basic combo

General tips: Attempt to afflict him with some status ailment at the start of the battle. They work really well on him. If he fires one wave of sword waves, it's prob better to stay away from him. The best strategy is really to have your party burst him down, as he's relatively squishy compared to Tiamat.

Extended fights with him are much more difficult than trading damage, due to his dash attack.

4 Shrines
Seiryuu - No boss, straight forwards.

Suzaku - Hidamari as boss. Keep on the move when they crouch, as they can instantly kill you with flaming eruptions from the ground. (similar to tiamat in that aspect)
Be careful of their kick.
This is a good place to farm cat whiskers, as Bakeneko will sometimes spawn at the start after you clear a little bit (shown in video).

Byakkou - No boss, super easy grind instance

Genbu - Yagyo-san as the boss. He's really just a regular mob with slow powerful attacks. He can be cheesed by ranged characters.

Also, note that the luck daruma can also be cheesed (shown in video).

That's basically it for these guys. They're all relatively easy.

Note that it covers all 4 shrines.

It's off topic but how did you make that all of these skills lvl3? Im stucking at this point :?: :?:
Nice topic, My suggestion is kill before you killed, so use attack magamatas to kill everything with 1 hit lol.

Momotarou's skill evolution only works on things with a double border, and are at max level.

So... Rhythm and I managed to finish training ground hell (Level 15) with characters fresh out of the tutorial (Lv. 2). Uh... was not our best idea but we did it. Think we're gonna try to do better before we upload anything.

Edit: We've speed cleared all hell modes in the first area (Outside Onishinden), and are currently working on clearing Sakurajima (Tiamat/Momotarou) on Hell without deaths. We've cleared under 9 minutes multiple times with one or two deaths, but that's not good enough for us. :D

Rhythm and I have found evolvable skills to be extremely rare. As a result, weapons that can be evolved should be seriously considered as a weapon you might keep. On the other hand, Momotarou is able to extract skills and place them into other weapons as one of his npc abilities later on. We haven't experimented with this yet, but we plan to at some point. Know that a skill extraction system does exist though. From what I've seen (I skimmed it and moved on), the skill must be max level and extracting will REMOVE ALL LEVELS from the skill. Momotarou also needs friendship upgraded to certain levels based on the rank of the skill. For example, I can extract Void Slash I as I have it at it's max of 10, but I cannot extract Lunge Step II despite it being its max of 20. Hope that kinda answers your question a bit.
