Onigiri main cast is also based on Japanese mythology and folklores. Shizuka and Yoshitsune are lovers. Kaguya is a moon princess born from the bamboo. Momotaro slays oni. Ibaraki Doji is an oni. Susano'o and Amaterasu are gods. Who is Miroku related to though? I don't recall him connecting to any Japanese mythology or folklore characters.
