Can Characters Be Recovered From Event Boot Crashes?

Greetings!

My level 37 character crashed during splash page booting into the festival and the character can't be booted again since. I get a "onigiri.exe stopped working. A problem caused program to stop working correctly. Windows will close and notify you if there's any solution." Looks like I lost another character which I had avoid the infamous crashing Rest Stop quest, unlike my first one who got zapped there since I recently returned to game and assumed that trap fixed since.

Is there at least any way to interrupt/cancel event or quest boot-ups to recover or derail characters to other quests before losing them when program crashes and without having to re-create them all over again?
