If you've played Onigiri for long enough, you probably know what I'm referring to: The Level 30 Nurikabe that appears in Kikaigahara, and the Level 40 Yagyo-san that appears in Oosumi Plains (North, West and South). I've seen them around, and even been in parties briefly to fight them (not that I could do much). My question is: how do they spawn? Is it random, or is there a specific trigger? I mean, I've often seen parties fighting the Yagyo-san in particular, often the same party. That makes me think it's not random, or at least not always, but if that's the case: what's the trigger? Twice now I've had a Nurikabe spawn nearby when mob farming (once near the entrance to Sakurajima, while farming Kappa and a Nurikabe spawned further down between the Kappa and Amagaeru. Another time was while farming Kijimuna for Green Furballs and one spawned in the middle of the field before chasing me around). See, my two oldest characters are getting pretty strong now, and I want to see how they'd fair against the Nurikabe, but I don't like the idea of sitting around for five hours waiting and then not seeing one. That's five hours I could spend grinding for Exp and money (need a lot of that for enhancing my weapons). I know the Yagyo-san's out of my league, for now, but I'd like to know if there's a specific way to summon one so that I can when I feel ready to try.

So, to reiterate: Do field bosses spawn randomly, or not?

They spawn every hour randomly on the map.

I tried taking on the Nurikabe with my main the day before yesterday, but it didn't pan out. He's still not strong enough. Ended up taking 4 or 5 of us to bring it down in the end (Shout out to Huso and ZettaiRyoiki if you're reading this, and sorry to the others but I didn't get your names), and I still died six times. My secondary might fair better since he's a tank build, and the only character I have with Rank VI and VII skills, but even then he might not manage it. I still need to train all my characters I think, before I can solo a Nurikabe, let alone Yagyo-san. I won't give up on that though, I'm determined to achieve it.
