Control Class

Hi,
I'm a returning player (I played beta) but I never really got into the game. I'm hoping to give the game another shot, but to do so I'd first like to know if there was a weapon that specializes in Control. Like stuns, pulling, pushing, Freezing, crippling, etc etc. These are the classes I tend to enjoy the most so I think that, if I used a weapon that can specialize in this, I would enjoy the game a lot more as well.
The help would be much appreciated!

If you want to "control", as in inflicting status effects onto monsters, I could recommend to you Twin Swords for stuns, Wand or Bow for freezing, Axe for pushing stuff away.

Well this game ain't the type what your thinking though. Oh and note you gotta be a glass cannon, specialize in 1 weapon type, and Defense stat isn't a real thing.

There aren't really 'classes' for this---Any weapon with an ice element skill has a chance to freeze monsters. Sword, Oodachi, Axe, Spear, Wand, Bow, and Twinsword all have ice skills. Of course there's also poison skills, but take my advice and don't go for any of those. The initial damage from them is sad, and the extra 200 or so dmg from the poisoning that lasts for maybe 10 seconds at most, is useless. There is an ougi for bow users (restriction) that slows monsters down, and with the right mags you can reach up to ~500k-700k dmg on monsters in Oushuu (lvl111+ monsters), however, most people don't understand the game to the point where they can build up that much dmg, and I have seen players over lvl112 (who are bow builds) that hit 23k restriction on lvl105 monsters. As Jakiro said, Axe and spear are the ideal weapons for 'pushing' monsters away, though of course it would be better if you could simply one shot them. The best thing to do is to invest your status points into a single class (pow, vit, wis, mnd, dex), and focus on a single weapon (staff being the exception---everyone should be able to support). Good luck finding a suitable weapon that fits your tastes.

Well there's the leechers, who simply don't know the purpose of mnd (or any other class for that matter), and then there's the respected players from 1st gen like Kyame, etc. who don't have any mnd but can rekt any dng in the game. That's why I put 'should'.

Kyame wasn't actually a 1st gen player since I don't remember seeing them around during alpha (Or maybe he went by a different name?). You also don't need any mind at all to clear. Mind provides max SP/SP regen ticks/Cooldown/thresholds for support-type spells and doesn't really do much for your dps. I think most people building for dps keep only enough to use rapid storm or resurrection.

Back on topic: The best form of control is death. Kill things fast enough and they can't kill you. If you're still looking for the ability to inflict status effects though, wands probably have the most potential to do so due to the sheer number of elemental spells available. They put a huge strain on their SP however, so you have been warned.

Tell me about it. Ougi Fuujin/Raijin V. 280 SP. None of my characters has the SP to use that twice back to back, not that they all have it. Ice spells are handy since they can freeze the target, but there's also some that slow the enemy down big time. Burn/Electrify/Poison... these are pretty meh in comparison.
