can't talk to lady shizuka at all please help

hi my name is marty mailbox
i made a new character in game and when i made it to kyoto i realized i could no longer speak to lady shizuka at all
whenever i put my cursor over her the speech bubble does not come up and she just won't speak to me
the other NPCs will speak to me but not her she will not speak to me
she will speak to me whenever it's a main quest but when i want to store all the useless junk i get i can't because she won't speak to me
i don't have any partner quests that i know of that i need to do
is there a sidequest that i need to do because i never do a single one of those
i can talk to her on my main character just fine though so i'm pretty sure it's a problem with the new character
please shizuka speak to me

I am assuming you need to run Ankan Forest?

If not, what part of the storyline are you?

no i have completed the ankan forest
i am in sekigahara and lady shizuka still will not speak to me... she won't speak to me in any other map either...

lady shizuka spoke to me! i am very excited
it turns out that i had to go back to onigashima and learn about "identification" a useless skill that i am not using
oni dagger is the only weapon i need
now i can stuff all of the drops into lady shizuka just in case i need to use them but i never will

I too need to go back to onigashima. Where do you find or could you find shizuka and still learn identification?
