First impressions and feedback.

Postby KAMIKADzE » 22 Nov 2014, 10:45

This thread is targeted for the devs (if they read the forum obv, otherwise to comm manager who can possibly tell them), just as my feedback. If you're not interested in it then just skip this thread ;)

So first of all I should tell you that I'm definitely not your target audience, as I'm here neither for anime-style nor for boobs. I'm just, another one, experienced MMO and overall mostly RPG oriented gamer.
I've reached only 19 lvl quiet recently, so bear that in mind that I still don't know endgame, nor all of the game features, etc. etc. and I haven't even bothered to investigate Jap version with all features it has and will probably bring to this server in the future.

I'll divide my feedback in 4 parts - how did I found out about this game+advertisement, first impressions, what game lacks (strongly recommended), what game lacks (personal preferences).

1)Well how should I start this part...hmmm...I'm kind of mostly into non-target action-packed MMORPGs and so I'm waiting for 2 titles (haven't bothered to read your EULA,TOS,etc., will surely do so somewhere in the future, but what I'm trying to tell is that I'll skip game-titles for now, just in case it is prohibited) that should come somewhere in 2015 - early 2016 (at least one of them is easily to guess so that should not be of any secret to you).
So closer to the point - on one of the newly released video on youtube related to one of "titles" in suggested videos on the right side I saw a video-review of your game by one MMO-review channel that I sometimes watch.
And now the point itself - it's kinda hard to find out about your game, otherwise I'd definitely know about it starting from development phase or at least CBT. I kinda guess that you're not getting tons of money from it, but still, consider some advertisement of your game or it will end up like another great Jap game (haven't read all agreements so yet again not going to tell name, but you can definitely find out about it and it's fate by googling something like "Jap permadeath MMORPG").

2)First impressions overall are something like "Great and fun almost-non-target MMO with decent story, somewhat outdated graphics and slightly slow-paced action". Then somewhere near 10 lvl I got the quest with "Kill 100 of this" which immediately resulted in ¬_¬ really on low lvl? and now I wonder if this won't result in "kill 1000 of this" on higher lvls, I hope it won't.
Some attributes also confused me on 1st day of playing this game! 1st! will write more on this matter in 3rd part of this feedback.
Also I kept finding myself investigating more than playing at the very beginning, like for example from the start I went into one of the dungeons then to another one and ...(before I went into training grounds where I'm supposed to meet Yoshitsune) and so as you already guessed -> search how to repair. Then I was wondering "how should I use this scroll" (e.g. craft-registering scrolls) and so on. Ok so let's continue this in the 3rd part now.

3)So what does this game lacks in current state?
>>>---> Keyboard rebinding - just a must have. Have seen dosen of topics on this forum about it already, while investigating "if it is possible to rebind somehow in some config file manually", so I don't think that I should dig into "why?". I have also seen that it is already considered and will be added somewhere in the future, wrote this just for the sake of completeness.
>>>---> Some more graphics configuration, and at least add some AA, I know that I can do it externally, but still. More complains on this matter will be in part 4.
>>>---> At least add descriptions to items (related to part 2). It shouldn't be way too hard to add something like "weapon recipe" to a weapon recipe scroll, just like you already do with weapons themselves. Adding in-game help should also be considered (could be H button or whatever until you add rebinding and should be told about it on char creation) which should avoid "go to browser" for every basic question (e.g. like "how do I repair broken weapon?", or like "OMG I forgot the default keys again, definitely not going to switch to browser again just to check it, at least I remember Esc/Alt" and still keyboard rebind, besides don't forget to add Inventory and other alt-menu options to keybinding I guess I'm not the only one playing with Keyboard).
>>>---> Indicate missing things and add "hover to show what this does". What I mean by this is that first of all add missing things like "Slice Element" to the other elements it's not like you're out of space, also attack speed!!! cast speed!!!, etc.. Secondary - add tooltips that will trigger on mouse hover and display like "1 Wis add this and that" and so on for all the stats, that will be more convenient than "add/remove to find out or go to wiki".
>>>---> Your cash shop should be immediately improved and have some more variety of things that won't make it P2W obv, at least I hope you won't do it P2W. If you got no ideas to what it could possibly be then consider playing other F2P MMORPGs and get ideas from there (e.g. pets, cosmetics, etc. etc.). Also don't forget about part 1 of this feedback and invest in ads.
>>>---> PvP/PK. As far as I understood there is none currently and something like moba-map is going to come (from top thread on General Discussion). Well I'm not that into duel type of PvP, especially arenas, and I definitely not going to whine about it over here, yet this feature is really important for many players and should be considered (e.g. arena/pvp matches beside the upcoming moba-map, I mean 1v1 duel). Now you're thinking something like "Then why did you wrote PvP/PK?" well that's because it would be also great to see a possibility to PvP/PK on higher lvl maps without dueling/arenas, e.g. if you kill enemy player that is not hitting you within 30 sec or so than it is counting as PK and should give some punishment (e.g. either stats reduced for XXtime or you can drop items if killed by player for time or something like karma which can be reset by various things, well nothing new in MMO world, or something else), a very handy feature for keeping spots/field bosses.
>>>---> Guild/Clan/Allience/etc. I guess that should be obvious, preferably with housing or castle systems. Guild/Clan/Allience wars would be also fun to see in the future.

4)What else lacks but not that of importance?
>>>---> Graphics kinda outdated a bit. I dunno to what lvl of hardcodness your game code is, but if it is somewhat flexible then how about using/adding some graphics features from free gaming engines? Obv all improvements and additions should be possible to turn on/off and customize so that this game won't rise to high-demanding but will give an options for those that can handle it.
>>>---> Volume. Lower the base volume lvl of music or rise all the others. I know that I can configure it (which I obv did - 60% music 100% rest seems fine to me), but my point is that on the same volume lvl it should be possible to recognize words(voice) while music is on. This is obv the least important thing to do as of now.
>>>---> Fix zoom lvl bug. Every time I go through any obstacle passing right by my screen zoom multiplier/lvl keeps reseting to default (e.g. camera zooms in to not get into object - that's great, but when I move from object away it should again zoom out, but it doesn't, which leads me to mostly staying in default).
>>>---> Add some variety in quests beside talk to NPC and kill mobs. Yeah I saw few craft quests and that's it. Something like "find this on the map" or "dig the treasure" or...

Well that's it, I could've written some more but those are the main complains. Hopefully it will help you a bit in making this game better. If at least half of those will be introduced than I might come up with some creative ideas over here, otherwise it will be pointless :D

Just a little fyi, we have most-if not all- the stuff you mentioned on the following threads:

There's been big discussions about this already. You might want to refer to those two threads instead.

Thanks for pointing threads, but the whole point of this thread was "what first throws in newbies eyes" and as I said I haven't written all, there are plenty of other bugs and annoyance like 360 degree turn of mobs which makes backstab-type skills almost unusable or "partner attacking invisible enemy", etc. and I guess most of those are already posted on the forum, that's why I posted "main things to change" which IMO should be prioritized over the others, next time I'll definitely use search before reporting and besides one more suggestion on this matter - this forum definitely needs 2 new sections, something like:
-Feedback and suggestions
-Bug report

LOL i remember first started playing i spent over a day getting to lvl 10 cos i was so into completing quests and reading the stories from each npc. But then i also got the quest for killing 100 of those orange mobs out in the first area field too
What a waste of time that was

Feedback and suggestions
and, not really a forum thing, but...
Bug report

Dw, no other quests with 100's :) (so far)
Only some to kill a certain number of monsters in specific areas which you've probably already seen some of.

The last thing this game needs is random PVP/PK on higher level maps. It would just be used to troll. It's utterly annoying as it is in games that do have this feature. PVP should only be implemented with a "request dual" feature, or a button to turn off the ability to let other people kill you. (There is also a thread concerning this debate, I don't know if someone has linked it already)

I don't know what you mean by "keeping spots/field bosses" but I'm going to assume you mean grind spots out in the field, along with preventing others from killing a field boss. This game isn't really like other MMO's. Your not going to spend any time grinding in the field. At higher levels you'll end up gaining EXP by "carrying" lower level players through dungeons. From what I've seen there isn't exactly major competition for field bosses, either. At least every time I've killed one, no one else has been around. (also, its more useful to party up and kill one together :/ ) If that's not what you mean, then I apologize.

As for most of the rest of your suggestions, I do agree. Also, they do have a lot of advertizing, It's just rather badly done in my opinion (way too many shots of irabaki's clevage =_= )

Oh and the dev's don't really mind if you mention other game titles on this forum. It's not heavily moderated.
