Naturally I spend some stat points on Dex to make using a bow worthwhile. If my method means spending two hours fighting a boss, that's fine by me. As long as I beat the boss I really don't care how long it takes. Thunderbeast is a good skill, but it's not perfect. You're not guaranteed to kill all mobs/bosses, and until it recharges you're vulnerable. If you run out of magic, you're also vulnerable. The way I do things, I can rethink my strategy on the fly, as it were. If I see that melee is no good, I switch to range and carry on. If I see their physical defence is insane, I switch to magic. Only one character I use has that much freedom though. My other characters aren't so free. This is the way I'm going to do things. I'm not asking you to like it or agree with it, but I do expect you to respect my decision.

This probably works for now, and as you said, you're free to do whatever you want and whatever works. I guess people are just warning you that this won't work later on. As anyone who can carry who's over 100 will tell you, only focusing on one weapon type (and maybe, in the extremely rare case, 2 weapon hybrids-for the current content, anyway) is the only viable option. Mobs and bosses will get large hp jumps both after kusatsu, and at oushuu and given the dungeons lengths, you'll need to prepare a lot of weapons for the durability if you're not specialised. There's also the issue that some people experience dc's if they take too long clearing a dungeon (so you can't take two hours) and this happens after you kill the boss meaning that you would've wasted the whole duration. As with any advice, you're free to take it or reject it, but you'll be better off if you take it earlier since weapons aren't so easy to get later and you may not need a stat reset then.
