[CBT] Thoughts/Exp

Postby Tyrese » 08 Jun 2014, 19:09

I enjoy the challenge of being underleveled, and facing monsters/bosses that are much stronger than me and my partner, however it is sometimes humiliating and takes away from the game when you continuously find yourself versus bosses that are more than double your level. This disparity in levels starts from tiamat and continues onto the kyoto region. I do like the difference from the 1 shot blow up everything tactics with the JP exp curve - however sometimes I just want to close the game over the bullshit that is, "1 shot KO" with any build.

It would be a shame to see the JP exp curve in obt, but it would be even worse to deal with this bullshit LIVE OBT. It's obnoxious to restrict yourself to kiting and using lvl 50 enhanced weapons just to clear, or resorting to cheese magic with wis/mind. I enjoy this game a lot - however I'll probably check out of CBT after finishing Kyoto because the game right now is fucking laughable in playability.

I liked this as a one week never again kinda thing. Would rather have higher exp rates than this though or they actually scaled everything correctly with decent exp rates.

I be satisfy if they made it 2x at least, just spend an hour fighting a boss more than twice my level. Used a mix of kiting, retreat, partner switch, mad dodges, and a lot of patient hitting for 10 to 20 damage at a time..

1~3 x2 in the case of mob kills wouldn't make much difference, neither would 200 -> 400 exp from a quest when you need about 3~4k to level unless there's a repeatable hunting quest kinda thing we haven't seen in this EN version yet.

Problem is quest scarcity combined with barely getting 10%~ish from a single dungeon run, and then ending up w/ quests 10~12 levels above yourself. lol.

I wonder how the drop rates will be on OBT, and of course that goes for exp rates as well.
It is quite fun with the 1/10 exp BUT for a short time, though that's it.
If it stays the way it is, then expect people to not even bother with this. :lol:

Well, hopefully they fix the exp rates. I can't be bothered to grind 12+ hrs a day for weeks on end just to get my lvls out of the way so I can wield the equip that I grind out of dungeons.

Challenge is fine and all but Challenge =/= long grind.

Tedious = Long grind

And long grind = many hours spent.

What do people do with those hours? Work in real life so they can charge in a game.

What happens when people don't have time to play the game as grind your behind off for 10% exp?

They charge their hard earned money elsewhere.

To those who think this is fine, kudos, enjoy a dead game that closes after you've cashed out your 200 buck for the pre-payment accessories and many more that they can easily milk before closing down.

TL;DR challenge =/= grind!
