There's a difference point made, but I have a question....was the whole debate really worth it? I found it kind of pointless and no disrespect but it was semi-childish and immature. Regardless of how it was handled. Kind of a waste of time.

I'm glad to see you guys are passionate about something but over something that you can't even consider trivial. I'm no moderator or admin, but I'd rather not have in-game drama brought to the Forums. Its like an advertisement for trolls and flaming, which in turn leads to a bad community (for the most part).

you need to change
"anti-aliasing-mode" to "enhance application settings" which will allow you to change "anti-aliasing-settings" to a multipler of your choice, i would suggest x8 for slower systems and higher if your pc can handle it. with x8 most of the edges will be smoothened considerably so thats mostly fine

nvidia drivers also offer FXAA which can help enhance the anti-aliasing without much ressource consumption, if you have performance issues with settings i described first, turn them back to application controlled and instead turn on FXAA. in any case you can use both filters, too.

someone noticed something important here. but what you missed the intention behind it all. the thread was mainly created for amusement, thats correctly. its intention is however not to troll people in any way.
what this thread does is 2 major things: showing a major presence in the community calling other people more or less braindead while also spouting so much unbelievable nonsense that it hurts to just read it. its about showing that everything this person in specific says is to be taken with a grain of salt.
anyways, since the arguments got so ridiculous over time we felt that sharing them for a laugh is the best thing to do and im no friend of unhelpful posts, so i simply showed the difference one can have with some simple clicks. not everyone with a good pc knows of things like these, but these are things that they can enjoy even without any background knowledge so why not let them have it?

on a side note: this last post of odessa kind of proves a point yet again: the two people that are "not seeing any difference" complaining about the games performance which basically tells me they didnt have the hardware necessary to run the game properly in the first place. and those people talk about how these settings that MAJORLY increase the ressource consumtion have no real effect. well of course not, if you never had the hardware for higher end settings you are obviously not used to them and will propably not be able to appreciate what you see, simply because you are not seeing it on a glance. thats a really normal thing to happen and nothing to complain about. we are not in here to do a hardware comparison afterall.

ok, lets show you how simple of a change that is

Your poor dull Life:

Our vivid masterpieces:

-The only thing you cannot change is the textures, everything else Deathy claims gives me cancer and makes me want to put a gun to my head, including server-sided graphics.
-Visual clarity and Sharper images are the only thing you can accomplish with nvidia/amd control panel until someone unpacks the .kxrs and uploads higher resolution textures and/or models.
-You can accomplish bringing more "life" to the game by using ENBseries (like I did above) or SweetFX with external renders (if you don't know either you shouldn't even be in here arguing with your minute knowledge of gfx)

and remember kids, Deathy gives you cancer if you accept it in your life

*slow claps*

Anyhow, for those using NVIDIA~
You guys can try NVIDIA Experience. It's a support used to optimize your games. However, I can't guarantee that you'll find Onigiri under the supported games tab considering that this is a fairly new game.

Correct - Onigiri is not listed in the NVIDIA Experience

This thread made me check my drivers - I was 1 update out on my drivers
After doing a driver update I made my changes in the Nvidia Control Panel/Manage 3D Settings/Program Settings (had to find the Onigiri Exe) and made may changes there. The settings you can use very on your system specs

I have not gone back over this thread to see if Deathy has retracted his comment about the texture files being hosted server side - Deathy think about it - the single biggest memory hog is the texture files themselves (my guess is they take up 80% of the hard drive space used). The load time for each map / area would be tenfold if you had to download them from the server every time. Use your head - which is faster, your hard drive read speed or your internet connection?

I stand by my statement, this game doesn't have mutli layer of graphic, infact is single layer graphic, it doesn't really improve anything with AA added - which was the post about.

Use your head, and keep an subject to the topic - it was about AA, there no real difference with AA on or off - honestly people don't read anything.

Ok - on topic - you are incorrect, just because you cannot see any difference on your system does not mean that those of us with decent systems cannot see changes. This whole thread made me want to go and tweak my nvidia settings and see for myself and I am glad I did, the game looks a whole lot better

cheers Deathy, as this will be my last reply to you - you are too closed minded to have an open conversation with anyone

you need to change

nvidia drivers also offer FXAA which can help enhance the anti-aliasing without much ressource consumption, if you have performance issues with settings i described first, turn them back to application controlled and instead turn on FXAA. in any case you can use both filters, too.

Do you know what effect specifically does FXAA does compared to the "Enhance the application setting" in "Antialiasing- Mode" ?

FXAA is a completely different kind of anti-aliasing to what you find under 'Enhance the application setting'. FXAA is a post-processing method that blurs edges it detects, while the others use an algorithm that determines the average colour it should be displaying to make the image sharper (I think). The main advantage of FXAA is that it has little to no performance hit. However, in my experience FXAA doesn't look as good as the other settings, and I wouldn't enable it unless your computer can't handle the others. I'd advise against it unless the game itself implements this method, since it can't discriminate between what should and shouldn't be blurred (text, particularly).

Here's what my nVidia configuration looks like:
Image
Check your preferred graphics processor and set it to the nVidia processor if it's defaulted to an integrated card (like mine did).
Anistropic filtering you can generally max out with minimal performance hit.
FXAA I'd leave off.
AA Gamma correction can probably be left as is.
AA mode I'd set to Override, as Onigiri has no AA of it's own.
AA Setting and Transparency you can probably max out as well if your computer has no problem running Onigiri normally. Generally speaking, I think Transparency will have the bigger performance hit out of the two. I can't tell you which one is more important for Onigiri right now though, I haven't experimented with it yet.
V-synch and triple buffering (down the bottom of the list) can be enabled if you have a high framerate and get screen tearing.
Everything else is mostly troubleshooting tools (I think), and can probably be left as is.
