Well, you only need to run the game as administrator.

It's a common glitch for MMORPG, in order to update some files the game asks for reinstall some pkg.

Running as a common user don't allow you to rewrite the files, once I run as administrator all troubles are fixed.

I think the problem is in bin/setup.ini
you can open it using notepad or whatever you want, see the [LAUNCHER] section
there is
url = http://patch2.onigiri-online.com/patch/cobralaunch.kxr | http://patch2.onigiri-online.com/patch/cobralaunch1.kxr | http://patch2.onigiri-online.com/patch/cobralaunch2.kxr

so when the games start, it will go to this url and download the launcher, but there is an error, because the cobralaunch1.kxr and cobralaunch2.kxr is no longer available / not found. I think there the main problem :?

I have the same problem here, maybe some can post their setup.ini file, maybe there is another url link for lhe launcher. :(

Make sure you have enough disk space.
It's unexpected but that's probably the cause.

Either that, Or download the full .ZIP version from the website.

I got this problem about 2 days ago, and I am very frustrated :x
after a long long way of searching and research :ugeek: , finally I found the main problem of this error.. :D

I've tried every single solutions that suggested in forum, but nothing happens. I still can't play the games, the launcher says "Update error, try again later bla bla bla"

then suddenly I realize something
this games is looks like DN (well, not exactly same but the system is similar, also PSO2)

this is a simple explanation about the error :
when the launcher start, its open a connection through IE (what!! IE... :o yes, Internet Explorer  ) to download the patch etc
so, just make sure your IE work in the online mode. :)
1. open your IE
2. click File and make sure there is no check list in work offline
3. run the launcher again
4. problem solved (well, at least in my case)

hope can help you all, oh if you want to share it maybe you can give me some credits ;)
find me in games

This worked for me today when I was having this problem! In MY case, I uninstalled first, then ran this step, then re-installed!

Angel Darkfire wrote:I had the same problem-->"Launcher download failed. Please try again later."

Well, I fixed it today. (No thanks to Onigiri who never even bothered to respond to the e-mail I sent to support on 01 July 2014.)

* Onigiri Launcher uses Internet Explorer to do all of its updates (for stupid reasons I can't even try to explain).
* I use Firefox as my Internet browser. As such, I had Internet Explorer uninstalled/disabled.
* Thus, the launcher couldn't connect to the Internet in order to update. (Why, oh why, the stupid thing couldn't just use Firefox is beyond me.)
* To fix the problem I encountered, all I did was reinstall/activate Internet Explorer.
Step by Step Process
* Open Internet Explorer by clicking on the e icon on the bottom taskbar.
* Open Tools (the circle in the upper right corner below the x or just hit alt+x).
* Select Internet options from the drop-down menu.
* Click on Advanced tab.
* Click on the Reset button.
* Click yes to all the warnings.
* Wait for reset to finish.
* Reinstall Onigiri. <--Might not be necessary. But, I did it as an extra precaution.
* Game screen now opens and lets you register like its supposed to. :) Problem fixed.
