How can i be a better player

Postby Trinityking » 07 Jul 2014, 13:43

Hiya everybody. I just recently joined Onigiri a couple of days ago, but i already got the gist of the gameplay. However there are some concerns that i want to establish before i can make a mistake and re-do my char all over again (and trust me when i say that i do not want to grind it all again at the byakko dungeon) These are my questions:

1. Currently my char is a Power-type: However i saw in a Onigiri video on youtube's comments that Daring are better in every way; is that true?

2.I dont get math, at all. So the affinity graph they have here doesnt make sense to me. Can anyone explain this to me? also my Char lv is 20 (more so since ima start grinding again) should i focus on getting more affinity? or Skill force?

3. Following the 2nd question, how do i get more affinity and skill force? How do i make those on a weapon? i know u can get them from some magatamas, but as i currently am, i'm guessing i can't make some of them. What i mean is can i put in affinity and/or skill force on a weapon myself, or is that just luck?

4. I prefer to be a power type char, you know, the kind that focuses on damage only. I dont like to heal, or heal others is what i meant. So what is the best way to do that with the stats? I curretnly follow the 50/50 STR/VIT. (Thats where whenever the stat usage increase, i go to another stat; and after that vice-versa).
Ex: my STR is 35 and what it needs to increase needs 5 stat points. I increase it till it needs 6, so i switch to VIT when it still needs 5. After it needs 6 more now, i go back to STR which needs 6 stat points.

I know this is hard to read since its a lot, but im rly desperate here. For those that answer all my questions in a single post (or more) i give u an internet cookie :D but rly i would thank u a lot and hopefully can play with each other in Onigiri :D
also i might have put this in the wrong section so tell me if i did and i'll do something about it (it's my first topic)

All depends on what weapons you main and what skills you use, for power type you could use odachis and swords but I chose daring so I spam bows and DEX.

It is not good to put points in 2 or more stats, focus on the main stat for your main weapon type, you will do more damage that way.

Ok sry that i forgot to mention that i like to use swords and odachis, i would also like to use spears and bow (the bow when i use it for emergency) But the main ones i like is swords and odachis. But i heard that even in daring class the sword and odachis are even better than in Power class.
Also to Xakorik, they say that if you focus on one stat (the POW) you'll become a glass cannon, where u can do lots of damage, but get killed in one hit. I dont want that so i like to put in VIT so that that won't happen.

It'll still happen especially once you get into the higher lvl dungeons. There's no real avoiding it though stat distribution. Also, you're better sticking with 1 weapon type rather than spreading to others.(of course having one or the other for emergencies/occasional supplement is fine but it's critical to devote resources to the main weapon you plan on using) The power to destroy your enemies is much more important in this game than defense, even for spear users, you're better off leaving defense mechanisms to dodging and blocking.

This comment was on my video.

I'll explain in more detail.

For late game purposes, Daring is a far superior character trope if you want to use a power-scaled weapon. This is because you have higher innate crit rate, crit power, and and you have, quite literally, 1 less power @ 110 cap.

That one power should not really be significant, because you should have max affinity regardless. The power trope provides a small amount of innate vit, which I personally classify as completely and utterly useless and wasted, because you will not be speccing a single point in vit in an ideal dps build.

Wow the real live SupremeTentacle responded to my post xD So you're saying that i should have picked Daring. then i should restart by getting that stat reset i heard so much about in kyoto or something right?

Also to Seeker Fate, that makes sense bc i like to use Swords, Odachis for attacking, bows and staff for support (like for enemies i dont want to get close to and healing, however low it is, and of course sp regeneration.)
But in case i change my mind, i like to keep my other weapons (spears, axes, and bows of course) if they are better than, or to sell at least.
So i like to enhance them to get the maximum damage. But do u think i shouldnt waste my resources on them and only focus on swords and Odachis?

i forgot to mention that for my weapons, should i focus on getting stronger weapons (more damage) or getting better skills that i like (cuz im starting to hate leaping strike, and some others have rly interesting looking element skills)

Try to get both skills and get them on good weapons =P

The more important of the two is skills, but try to get a level in your weapon range, at the very least, and then + it.

Also, try to avoid the 50/50 distribution between pow and vit, it will gimp your damage by upwards of 50% later on due to the fact that affinity does not scale in a linear fashion.

As a Lv. 7x vit build, I still get one hit killed by many things.

I see, so i should get better skills AND have maximum damage. That makes perfect sense xD

then for the stats i should go Daring and focus all on STR then so that i can get the maximum damage

Well, there's 2 different ways to approach this.

After you reset to daring, you should probably get one of the titles that has like 50 or 60% affinity on it.

After that, is where the path splits.

You could go the Sliferx route, and add your power stat until its 100 base. This is to prepare for super late game, like Lv 110 and the such, where you can have up to 4k affinity. However, that's temporarily inefficient, as, for now, we don't have the content to get to such a level, so, its probably a better idea to split your stats once you hit 3k affinity stat.
