Axe user build?

My current build is a full VIT spearman and it isn't bad. However I'd like to go up close and more personal with the mobs when I do my bashing and slashing so I decided that I wanted to go fr Axes since they do the most damage. I've got my stat/skill reset from Benkei's quest and I'm deciding if I should use it and go for being an Axe user instead.

So from what I understand I need to be a POW type and go for a full POW build right? How about skills on my axes? What's a good combination of skills for AOE mobbing and single targets? Can you guys give some suggestions? Thanks!

To be honest, if you wish to go close and personal I would recommend going oodachi more.
But yes generally you'll want to go pow type and go power dividing some thresh hold points (if you want/need to) in either vit or dex depending on what thresh hold stats you may want. (mnd might be slightly viable as well but it's up to you)
As for skills I can't say too much since I don't use axe.
You'd probably want to go with the ice-fang (wannabe/lookalike whichever it is) for aoe and for single targets that one mid-air slash that locks-on targets would be the first ones that pop to my head.

Yes, I was thinking of using Oodachis as well. I might use it as a backup weapon alongside my axe. Could you suggest some good skills for Oodachis as well?

Slifer would probably be a better choice to consult with this matter than me. (his ign is Sliferx, he is so going to chase me down for this, 'specially when I'm causing drama with my bow to spear change atm) but generally I believe most of the skills save for some are pretty viable. Sword of Avidya is one of the best ones that pop into my mind atm though.

Sword of Avidya will be your best friend for AOE, alongside Fierce Slash I think it's called. Though personally I like Avidya more.

Any high rank Grim Slice, or Blade of the Sky I think it's called as well. Major single target damage, and even has an area effect, so both are good for finishing off what Avidya doesn't hit. There's more of course, but those are among my favorites as an Oodachi user.

so far i know, wide slash AOE for axe is Rapid Collapse and Static Axe . slight less aoe than sword Adviya but it multi strike for make up of it.
