I believe it increase the distance at which you can pick up items. Not 100% sure though.

other than wondering what drops green furball...any1 know if all the 80 durability weapons im saving do anything later on ? i saw mention about log bow & dry staff, but there is so many other ones too & no mention of them

Green Furballs drop from Kijimuna. This list may answer your question.

The low dura items you get are a grade below white grade. They are basically useless I think, no use I've found for them except enhancement fodder and to sell
