Some Newbie Questions Please....

Postby The Grey Otaku » 10 Jul 2014, 07:33

I have some *really* basic newbie questions to ask please...
1) Regarding choosing a weapon to level-up....
Because I've been doing a lot of grinding, I have a *lot* of duplicate weapons to choose from, but I'm never sure which is the best one to pick.
Do I go with the highest Grade version available, or do I choose the one with the most advanced Skills?
2) Each weapon has five slots available for Skills to be attached, but the lower two aren't available.
How do I access those last two slots?
3) Do Skills evolve over time? If I have a level II Skill, over time, will it evolve to lvl 3, 4 and 5?
4) On my Player Status Screen, there is a line of Icons that I assume represent my different Elemental Affinities (?), but I don't know what each one represents and haven't been able to find an explanation anywhere so far.
Can someone explain them please?
Image
5) Once you've got a whole whack of weapons from a specific area, is there any reason to keep opening the new Bronze/Silver and Gold drops you get from each run?
I've got to the point where I just sell them back to Miroku for 20 a piece because I already have tons of each of them and it costs a bundle to Identify each of them.
6) All the Stone Items I keep getting (Thunder Stone, Light Stone, etc.) ... do they do anything? And if so, how do I use them?

Thanks to any and all who answer these questions and sorry they're so newbie......

1) I'm not a veteran enough to give you a hint about what to do, I also don't know what grade really is for, but I'll tell what I do: get the weapons with icons on their icons (those golden, red and blue things) they seem to upgrade better when enhancing, not sure though. Also, having advanced skills around is great but, be careful with the mana costs, since they increase. The best is to have something low lvl to spam (anything of your liking) and an advanced skill to insta kill dangerous things (I recommend an AoE skill).

2) The last two slots are for "Ougi" skills, that you can get in the Gacha (that means paying real money). You do get gacha tickets in game everytime you kill a Kamikui I think, and once I got an Ougi by that (which is awesome and I'm glad I got). Anyway, Ougi skills are just super insane powerfull skills with super insane mana costs.

3) They do and they dont. Whenever you master skills you've accomplished one of the requirements for evolving skills. The second is that in your weapon that skill slot can be upgraded (you can check with Momotarou NPC), and the last requirement is that you have Momotarou.

4) You have Stats -> Elemental Affinities -> Weapon Affinities in the lower tab. Weapon Affinities are pure damage, they sum with your Attack, so you better use only the weapons you have higher affinity. The Elemental Affinities are... from top to down: Fire, Ice, Lightining, Rain, Mountain, Air, Holy and Darkness... I think that's it. I've been thinking where is the Slice and Pierce element, but I suppose they aren't shown.

5) If you can't enhance weapons with them, then there's no reason to identify, never found one at least.

6) I don't know too.

The grade is usually overlooked if a weapon has good skills. A weapon with a good skill can take you much further than a weapon with high damage. I'm sure you'll come to that understanding as you progress through the game.
2) Each weapon has five slots available for Skills to be attached, but the lower two aren't available.
How do I access those last two slots?
Those are Ougi Skill slots. Those skills can only be acquired through the Gachapon in the cash shop.
3) Do Skills evolve over time? If I have a level II Skill, over time, will it evolve to lvl 3, 4 and 5?
No, skills do not evolve over time. I'm not sure if you've gotten Momotaro as a partner yet, but as his level increases, he will be able to help you level up your skills' ranks instead.
4) On my Player Status Screen, there is a line of Icons that I assume represent my different Elemental Affinities (?), but I don't know what each one represents and haven't been able to find an explanation anywhere so far.

Going down the list, we have Fire, Ice, Lightning, Water, Mountain, Wind, Holy, Darkness. Pierce, Slash, and Impact are also considered elements in the game, but they are not shown under those icons. What the elements are for is a more complex topic, but I will try to simplify it for you.
All skills have elements. The Bow skill Rapid Shot is of the Pierce element, the Wand skill Darkness Pillar is of the Darkness element, and some skills are a hybrid, such as Ice Blossom, which is a spear skill of the Slash and Ice element. Having more of an element stat increases the damage of your skills with the same element, and also increases your resistance towards that certain element.

Only identify the weapons if you are looking specifically for a weapon to use for enhancing/smelting/quest. Even then, identify weapons of the correct grade. Weapons come in five grades; in order of ascendance, Trash, White, Blue, Red, and Gold. For example, if you are looking for a Gold or Red rank weapon, it is cheapest to id only the unidentified gold ranked weapons.
6) All the Stone Items I keep getting (Thunder Stone, Light Stone, etc.) ... do they do anything? And if so, how do I use them?
You can use them in quests, or during magatama ornamentation.

Thanks to any and all who answer these questions and sorry they're so newbie......

No, don't get those Gold, Red, or Blue ranked weapons. Smelting those are expensive. Instead, find a White ranked weapon with a good skill or two, and smelt it with Skill Evolution until +50 or something. As stated above, even if a weapon has better damage (Grade -> Damage), a weapon with a good skill can carry you much further. Plus, it is also a lot more cheaper, I'm talking about more than half the price of smelting just Blue ranks, which is already cheaper than smelting Reds and Golds. This frees up some extra money for you to throw into Skill Evolution so that you are able to have your good skills become, well, better.

Getting duplicates of weapons will allow you to smelt the weapon to a higher enchantment level. This allows some major power ups! For choosing the one to use - the priority goes like this.
Skills > Level Req (higher is better because higher base attack) > grade (again, higher is better)

2) Each weapon has five slots available for Skills to be attached, but the lower two aren't available.

These are "Ougi", or ultimate techniques, which you obtain from Nyankoropon.

3) Do Skills evolve over time? If I have a level II Skill, over time, will it evolve to lvl 3, 4 and 5?

They can on some weapons, through the use of Momotarou. However, this is RNG'd and very few weapons can actually do it successfully, let alone one you actually want >_<. Elsewise, you can select the skill evolution option from Yoshitsune, when you attempt to smelt.

4) On my Player Status Screen, there is a line of Icons that I assume represent my different Elemental Affinities (?), but I don't know what each one represents and haven't been able to find an explanation anywhere so far.

Slice, Pierce and Blunt are not shown. Elsewise, it is the same as Vrenna has stated.

Smelting, and better skills.

6) All the Stone Items I keep getting (Thunder Stone, Light Stone, etc.) ... do they do anything? And if so, how do I use them?

Ornamentation and crafting.

Thanks to any and all who answer these questions and sorry they're so newbie......

But, but, but, what about my super duper cool golden bow whose damage tripled at +50... and yeah, it's extremelly expensive.
I recommend having 1 one these around, all the others I have are +50s whites just like Blank recommended.

Thanks very much for this! :)
I'd been burning all of my "cheaper" weapon drops and focusing exclusively on levelling up the Reds, Blues and Golds, thinking I was helping myself out from a strength perspective.
And yeah, because my luck is awful, every time I failed a smelting attempt, it cost me a fortune (failed on a bow with "Lucky" and extra money spent to bring chance up to about 84% :( ), but I've had far more luck and spent far less by levelling up some lower ranked weapons, and they seem to still be pretty darned effective at level 40. :)

raw wise appereantly red star > gold hexagon > blue ice > white . as better the quality, each enchant give more raw power.
but as those veteran above said, that skill the one save your skin most of time instead the weapon itself, so more efficient have godly skill on cheap weapon (and wear lot of weapon affinity + element too). not to mention its true higher the weapon level/quality , the cost for smelting get more higher.

so technicaly for leveling better depending on high enchant white weapon with good skill , till you found the final red star weapon you gonna use forever. (and you prepared already for pay the price for it)

as for myself , im limiting myself to +10 , except that weapon really give good synch between skill and stats (example thunder spear with thunder crack maybe?), im +30 it (also most craft ask for +21 to +30) especialy i keep changing weapon if i found something with more damage than my previous.

Hi!

These are very good game Q&As! Wish there was a way to have a Q&A formatted database topic where experienced players could insert their own explainations and suggestions and advice as answers to cover specific player questions!
