Staffs also have damage skills. If you are a good supporter, your damage skills should do good damage since attack plays a role in supporting. If you have good damage, you should be able to kill monsters.

I run stuff in party by killing monsters and if I see someone in need of a heal or SP I go heal and/or invigorate them. You can cry all you want but staff users don't have it bad. I spam skills non stop in dungeons thanks to my high SP regen and get really good exp. AoE is painfully easy on certain mobs thanks to Chase Blister and once I get a decent staff with Pillar of Light I should be able to do even more AoE damage.

That's called KS, or Kill Steal... something that should have been buried in the annals of MMO history and they decided to keep in this game. Anything I use to describe this fact will be considered +18 enough to ban my account lifetime.
I don't have to say but I'll reinforce this: REMOVE THAT !@#$!$@%$!@@#%@!$#.

I've suffered from that a few times, and saw some abusers already.
People waiting for the monster to reach a certain ammount of HP to hit it down with a single skill. Nice job !@#!$!#$ers.

Yeah, Staff can cause damage, whatever, everyone knows that.
How much can you cause? How many monsters effectivelly can you hit before they die? This will pretty much decide how much xp you get, that's the problem.

To put it simple: The better AoE DPS you are in this game, more xp you get.
Got what's wrong in here? Not everyone specialize in AoE DPS, and those are the ones that get less xp in parties, including your Staves.

I was naive like you before, until.. and I took an arrow on my clerics   . I wonder why I played at the same time with my friends and now I'm stuck at lv.19 now, and my friends are all already 24++.

I usually did the same like you, healing, SP heal. Are you really spamming skills? I don't think so, you have SP limitations here. You MUST EITHER CHOOSE, to HEAL your comrades and YOU can't SPAM YOUR OWN SKILLS or just forget the HEAL completely and go ALL-OUT-ATTACK. Or go ALL-OUT-Support which I don't recommend. Chase Blister is slow as hell and those Pillar of Light is actually rare as hell too at initial level and consume a lot of SP. And I can guarantee you, unless you can overenchant really overly and with godlike equip, you won't reach at the same level of damage with Axes/Oodachis/Swords/Bows(in terms of ASPD), dual sword. Because staffs are created to half-support and half-attack, and the devs created it badly.

Actually if possible, the game mechs should be totally overhauled.. I sometimes miss my target since enemies are moving around a lot, the targeting system is also rather weird for .. everyone perhaps? at least for me it's rather weird.
Usually we can change target freely with TAB, but in this game we are limited only to TWO NEAREST TARGET. It hinders our support/healing and attacking too. :(.

The same happens also when dodging, I have already dodged the enemies attack before the enemies attack, but still got damage. :D . The hitboxes is not clear at all. I must predict it beforehand since the attack hitbox also doesn't feel quite right. ( you know if you have cleared the dungeons )

... I'm level 40 pure MND. The SP recovery you have at lv 19 as Pure MND isn't as good as it is at level 40.

Chase blister is like the most useful skill ever for Staff users. Mob up groups, run away, use chase blister, all mobs that are together get hit for high damage. I was carrying Byakko hell 5 player at level 30+ with it. Daruma, Stickies, Lanterns, Pinata mobs, all these kind of mobs that follow you like idiots are the easiest to farm mobs ever with Chase Blister.

Things can be better for healers with targetting and buff icons/timers. But EXP is not a problem. I haven't had a problem with it and if you do, just realize that you can't play staff well and then yeah maybe go play a weapon you are better with.

And targetting isn't all that bad. Once you get used to it, you learn to be aware of your surroundings and where each player is. You get used to knowing where to run if someone is low on health and how far you need to run to just press Tab and you target them. To be honest targeting isn't that much a problem for me anymore since I'm so used to how it works in this game and can basically already tell which team member I will target as soon as I press Tab.

If at lv 19 you are having no fun with staff then just quit staff and move on I guess.

Here's an example of my SP recovery.

I AoE like this

1) Mob up groups

2) run away

3) use Chase Blister V

4) Dodge

5) chage weapons

6) use chase blister IV

7) dodge

8) change weapons

9) Repeat steps 3 - 8 until mobs are ded.

I can do a combo of Chase blister V > Dodge > Chase Blister IV > dodge a total of 6 times before I can't use Chase Blister V cause I don't have the SP. And even when I run out of SP, it takes just a few seconds more to use Chase Blister again. So I can keep this up a little bit more slowly if I choose not to drink an SP pot while mobbing. Just be mindful that I use 2 damage weapons, an Invigorate weapon and a heal weapon. So there is a slight delay between the repeat of the combo as I wait for Chase Blister V to get off cooldown.

So I use Chase Blister V 6 times, Dodge 12 times and Chase Blister IV 6 times with my 486 SP pool before I run out.

Chase Blister V uses up 84 SP, Dodge takes up like 3 SP, Chase Blister IV takes up 65 SP.

Chase Blister V does 4 bubbles, Chase Blister IV does 3 bubbles.

Each of the bubbles does about 1.6k damage+ per mob it hits. If there are a group of mobs on top of each other or get hit by a bubble as it mobs, they all get damaged. Oh and this damage is if I don't crit.

This is my AoE potential.

@Zetsu

I think you can speed up the process by drinking SP pots. by the way, what build are you? mind/vit ? full mind? mind/dex? or mind/wis? or wis/mind?

On your level it won't be problems. In initial levels it just doesn't worth to play anyway. I think it should be full attack until the reset, then I can safely reset into support.

So the order for faster grinding to max level -> full attack + pots -> max level -> reset to support/anything you want to be.

I'm full mnd, have been since the start. At the start it can be annoying I guess since you don't unlock too much SP recovery and your basic damage skills are Holy Light and Breath of Light, but once you hit Byakko, staff users go crazy with the water staff and chase blister. Still using a water staff at level 40

Also I'm not sure if I'm reading it right but you seem to think supporting and damage are 2 different builds?

Attack and skill force effect both damage and heals. Also some are saying it effects buffs as well but I haven't tested this out.

So if you want to be a good supporter, you should have good Attack and skill force. Which basically means you have good damage as well.

Nope.. you must choose one, either supporting your party or supporting yourself and damage the monster. Why did I say like that? Because, you won't have the SP recovery and SP pool to back it up.

And another one, I am not full MIND.. perhaps if I go full MIND it's totally different case. I was taught to have equal MIND/WIS and that is the cause of my mistake build. On the other hand, I

found another good point, with Full Mind our Magic Defense is better than most physical class out there, so facing magic-based boss like Ahriman in lower level helps a lot. I just finished solo

with my hybrid Wand/Staff on Ahriman on lv.19 just now.
