They didnt, Onigiri can also mean other things. From the kanji i think it roughly translate to "demon slaying." Oni part mean demon, ogre or devil and the giri part is slash or cut.

This. Girlfriend is Chinese and said the kanji means "slash" .. so agree with this post.

Also, the literal translation of the two words is Demon Cut, basically.

If they wanted to rename it for the EN ver, they probably could have, but nothing really sounds that greattttt. I mean... think about it. Nothing you could roughly translate it to sounds that great.

Spirit Slasher Online
Demon Slayer Online
Devil Cutter
etc etc


Again, nothing actually sounds good, so I would much rather they preserve the title as is, than do what they did to the musou series. I mean come on, "Dynasty Warriors", really? Ffs, whoever decided on that translation should be dipped in tar and feathered.



Note: Jp people throw online onto the end of the game quite a bit when they talk about it, so I'm appending it because it sounds better.
