While I am not as high level as many, I tend to alternate between the two depending on the situation, or using a wand on some enemies (especially those weak to fire). Most times, Bow is perfectly fine, especially for soloers due to decent dps, good damage from skills and the range. Twin Blades are handy against some enemies, particularly those weak to melee damage. Since both bows and twin blades rely on the DEX stat, you don't need to build on another stat to make one more useful.

I'm a Daring twin sword build, which is a lot of fun, and I carry three twin sword weapons to rotate through as needed, but I also carry a bow for those times when it's safer to try and pick off dungeon enemies from a distance.

I switch between both till I reached Shinoda forest wherein I started to level my Exorcism Arrow.
It's hard to get affinities maxed for both at the same time and starting in Kyoto I have to maximize affinity and skill force damage.

I'm going an off-build to see how far it'll take me, as in screw maxing the stuff everyone is saying, I'm focusing on critical. Right now, I have a 41 critical and it has gotten me through Normal Kaga story line. This way I can actually use both evenly, but again play however you like.

Just use both, since both use the same stat (DEX) to increase damage, you only win.
Also, enemies in this game have weaknesses to slashing and piercing damage. Not only that, some have a behaviour that is better dealt with either ranged or melee attacks, so having a higher selection of weapons is at advantage in the long run.

Personally I'm a Bow/Spear user though, so I barelly use Twin Swords. They tend to put me in risk, so I don't like them that much, but... the thing sure does kill fast. I end up using it sometimes when I want someone to disappear immediately.

When you reach Echigo, look for someone selling weapons with ougi cards.
Get a Cypher lvl 79 or two.

Then buy or make a chian magatama.
Complete your set with a Dousetsu magatama.

Now you get a badass twin sword user.

Source is a friend who started with power, switched to wand and is now a dex/vit type twin sword user.

For Bow types, it would be better to go pure dex then pool points to mind or wisdom whichever you prefer.

You have four weapon slots, and both feeds on Dex stat, so why limit yourself to one?

I use Twin Swords, Bows, a staff (for self-heal), reserving the last slot for waste to have those eat the durability.
