Not always.
People get too accustomed to leeching, they'll just keep doing that at the higher levels.
Not having developed a sense of skill or strategy and learning how to carry themselves through a dungeon, I'm not sure what will compel them to wake up one day and say "Gee, I'm level 40 now, I think it's time to start giving back, and help out lower-leveled people".

You think carries take leechers for charity?

We take them because we personally want the exp boost. When you are capable of doing 5-man hells solo, do you reap true exp. Exploit the leechers.

Maybe I don't really understand how leeching works then.
Full Disclosure: I've never even partied with anyone yet; have solo'd my way to Kyoto.

That said, I had assumed that if there was a significant level disparity in a dungeon, say, a level 20 player and a level 5 player, going through a level 5-appropriate dungeon (How about Cave of Karma for example?) that the level 5 player would suffer an exp penalty due to the level of the person "carrying" them.

Every person in the party adds more enemies and makes them tougher. Getting the last hit on the enemy gives you full experience, otherwise you get approximately 1/4th the experience. If one person carried one other person, the lower level would definitely get less levels compared to soloing (assuming both take the same amount of time to clear, which is false). On the other hand, if one person carried 4, all of them would probably get more levels compared to soloing.

Basically rewards leeching and carrying in a sense.

Which is why this current game's dungeon difficulty as well as individual exp+loot is stupid. Easiest solution for all one man carry capability would be put a small number of remote target stun mobs in each room.

Huh... so, if a higher-leveled person wanted to assist a new player in clearing dungeons, it wouldn't necessarily be the most advantageous for the new player (in exp gain), but if the higher leveled person carried multiple people, then they'd benefit more?

I leech secluded runs but I solo'd most of the game myself, and you often see me helping people in kyoto fighting odin because I just like to help murder odin, plus I need his monster cards. I kill afew enemies in secluded hell runs though when I'm "allowed" to, sometimes the party host tells everyone to "fuck off" and let them aggro everything. it's not always the leechers fault.

Not all leechers enjoy leeching, it's a boring way to play but for the sake of decent exp for non pow/vit types you don't have much of a choice. Besides in a carry run leechers hitting an enemy is more dangerous for the leader than doing nothing so they're stuck with don't hit, don't aggro or leave party.

The one benefiting more in a carry is the one carrying and not the one leeching.

They get to level their skills, get more items and more experience per run than going solo.

Power and Vitality types get good early access to powerful AOE skills and matagamas.

Wand types easily get magatamas as well and has some decent AOE skills.

The same doesn't go for Mind and Dex Types.

What I consider helping people is go around previous towns and get further derailed when you see someone asking for help in clearing some dungeon that you only cleared once as part of the main quest run.

True vit spear is right now best in terms of wave clear, followed by i don't know maybe odachi? haven't really seen them at all. I'm carrying SF hell just fine with my bows even though its abit slow averaging 8 min currently, but its still doable and quite easily actually.

Also, what???? people only leach cause they're helpless otherwise WHAT???? In my screenshot, the lvl 70 is a sword/odachi user fit perfectly to your description. The 75 is a bow user sure, but if I can help clear, why do those 2 just stand around like a level 20 afraid of anything and everything that moves??? What stops you from helping out killing the 1 or 2 mob that decides not to follow the carry anymore? Whats stopping them from helping output aoe damage when the carry gather the mob, provided that he don't give a dam about you hitting the mobs? Whats stopping them from bringing a random staff with invigorate or speed up to help the carry heck you don't even draw agro for support in this game. And don't give me crap about them don't have mind stats invigorate don't work cause i'm getting 16 sp invigorates all the time and at 22+18 mnd my invigorate gives 24 per tick so i'm sure they're not mnd build either, and that 16 sp makes me so grateful carrying a party.

tl;dr There are many ways to make yourself useful even if you're leaching. Its not the game's fault its the player's fault when they just go "oh there's a carry i can be as useless as i can be"

What I consider helping people is go around previous towns and get further derailed when you see someone asking for help in clearing some dungeon that you only cleared once as part of the main quest run.

I only saw handful of people actually go to lower level places and help out. most of them are just standing in front of secluded or the repair place spamming "useless person here looking for carry, let me leach plz i'm a leach". Also, there are people i see all the time looking for elder forest, central garden, veronica standing there for at least half an hour when i'm going repairs while carrying people. People would rather stand there idle and spam "looking for carry" than go help them with those simple dungeons
