Soloing for the win!

I don't know, I just don't enjoy being in a party but when I do I'd rather everyone pulled their own weight. If someone tells me just to sit there while they kill everything, I'll leave the party. I don't see any fun in being in a party that isn't having fun. I think talking while in a party is a good thing, makes things more interesting. Though personally, I believe you should be able to solo a story quest dungeon otherwise you just aren't ready to go further in the story. They should change how staff users gain exp as they are doing a vital thing for the group. Just figured I'd throw in my two cents.

That's because invigorate scales with attack(from what I'm told) which you should have more of than your supports, if you're not of the support class yourself.

I actually leeched for the first time today.
Granted I didn't do the whole stand there and do nothing part. I did the "fake" support, which was a good thing since the carrier was having problems getting Onigiri and SP pots. Apperantly Miroku didn't like him and didn't want to restock. I would have given him mine BUT there's no trading AND you can't put the Useable(HP and SP pots) items in the Bazaar. So even my puny 160 Heals were appreciated to a certain degree. Also gave the carrier tips like not wasting SP pots before going in the portal since the SP is filled when going in.

Other than that I talked to the other party members, like some design similarities this game had with past games like Chrono Trigger and Star Ocean.

It really depends on the person. I value enjoying the story, does getting leeched diminish that? NOPE. Not for me atleast. It just lets me continue on quicker, when I do reach the end I either : Help new players, focus more on RP, till hopefully new content is released. One way I kept my self from quitting games that had a story that I liked but was to grindy was to not do the story missions and just grind. That would require moving to a new location at times. Sadly in this game you are locked from the other areas till you do the story missions, so that method doesn't work.

It's not that hard to see how a party is heading. The moment you join and there's a person WAY above the normal difficulty lvl range then expect that person to want to kill everything. As to why this is so accepted: More Exp in less time. Solo that dungeon in 15 at Normal and get 10k exp vs. Let the guy who wants to kill everything, kill everything and finish the dungeon in 9 minutes then get 20k. Which would a person who just wants to get the grind done choose? That is LOGIC. Now choosing to grind solo in that case is personal preference.

I do agree that the game really doesn't encourage player communication/interact. Even simple ones are lacking like trading, emotes/animations, Clan/Guild. Hell even the friend's list is flawed. The chat ground had more information that the friend's list. Shouldn't it be the other way around? This game can potentially be played solo with some skill.

PS: I only ever do dungeons normal which I can Solo at 10-14 lvls above me. I don't care much for Hard or Hell, I probably won't ever do em unless a quest wants me to, an item is there, or I am in a party that can handle it or am being carried. Seriously I like Story not grinding or "making it harder". I'm also know to be extremely lazy... So there's that.

that because fake support don't have high enough MND to use Invo 4-7

I am using Invo 5 , my invo 7 staff , I'm level 55 right now with 84 + 18 MND.

then again , an true support will realize that staff level don't matter really with sp regen and buff/speed as those are already defult amount what that does, as higher staff increase heal slightly, but not much to notice.

If you need advice as pure MND/support contact me ingame and i'll do what I can to help you.

By the time the initial invigo finishes ticking, the carry would have spent that SP. So stating that having more than 1 SP healer is pointless is false. Besides, most of the time I get into parties that have at least 2 carries, or 2 supports SP trading.

Leechers will be leechers, but at least they should have the decency to do "something" rather than being rude and just alt tabbing then looting. I have several friends who carry parties and most of them say the same thing, "Would be nice if they could do something to help us out just a bit." Unless you're paying the carry for the runs, it's not their "job" to do everything.

Thankfully I can deal enough damage to partially help the carry get rid of some loose mobs. It's not like they can lure every single monster in an area and do a clean sweep in a single strike.

As for those carries who "demand" not to hit any of the mobs because they will lose a bit of their precious exp, either I don't join the party or just fake support them.

I personally don't go to the next area unless I'm at least 10 levels away from the hell mode gap. Went to Kishi at 10, Sakura at 20, Byakkou at 30 and Shinoda at 40. I remember in Shinoda me and a friend of mine wanted to start a party. In average we're around 42ish and he was 51, but the last slot was taken by a level 29 player. In my mind I was like "What the f*ck are you doing in Shinoda at that level? You leeched all the way and didn't do anything yourself you lazy bast*rd?" It's just me but I despise anyone who does absolutely nothing on the party, leecher or not.

To be fair, it's not hard to have 5man pt on your back in hell Shinoda @ 29.
Selling all of my gear for ~40% of its market value!
~4 lv. 108 to 115 weapons remaining
Some skill card 7's, ougi, orna'd maga and other stuff too!

Lol um I think this thread is getting a little side tracked here...
As a solo player/anti-social, I don't have any reason to communicate. On the occasion I do party up for something like a kishiden hell run for magatamas, I probably won't say anything at all. With 4 strangers, I have no idea what to talk about or if there's actually any online etiquette.
I think having a guild or clan would be nice. I would like to find other players with similar interests but I have no idea how to go about it the way things are currently T_T

From my experience the Carry/Leecher system contributes to this.

In a party of 5, I hardly hear chatter in a dungeon run wherein only the Carry(Leader) can fight.
The leechers are left staring at air and those who try to get a chunk of a kill gets reprimanded for it.
Only the one doing the Carry and to some extent the support is enjoying so at least 3 others are left dozing off in boredom.
If you enjoy just standing around then good for you; don't read further.

In some cases that there's chatter in the party(Aside from the usual Don't Hit!, get back!, all repair!, everybody get in! NOOB!! etc etc) it's a leecher to leader chatter rather than group chatter. The leecher appreciates getting a boost in exp since he/she's probably not a spear or pow type and the carry/leader gets someone to mooch off extra exp from so it's a win-win for those people; at least until he gets fed up relying on leech but has no other choice in leveling and so just shut up seeing group dungeons as more of a chore.

The worst dungeon for me would be Byakkou wherein everybody is going Senpai or Onii-san on the party leader; low levels still not fed up with just standing around).

The best dungeon for me would be my stay in Shinoda Forest hell wherein everybody gets a chance to kill an enemy without disrupting someone's mob or the leader.
It's also wherein we got most of our buddies in the friend's list.

Sometimes when I get fed up with leeching(Killing strays and making sure other members don't get hit with kamaitachi) I go around towns and sometimes encounter people looking for help in clearing a dungeon for a main quest. We make a party, kill the boss, some of the time gets a thank you and that's it we go separate ways in less than 7 mins.

In short, I don't mind the party system wherein we can make a party of 5 and dissolve it moments later without much attachment but we should at least be able to enjoy our run together and not carry/leech.

I did find one thing that brings people together though.
It's the excessive lag and frequent DC.
When they complain together in public chat it seems to make people come closer for some reason.
