The Carry/Leech system that people have come to expect has it's benefits and it's flaws. I'll admit to leeching, but usually I ask the "carry" what they want me to do, because if there is a chance to help and actually put up a fight, I will. I aim most of my grinding towards making myself a stronger solo player, since tackling the story line dungeons by myself is what I enjoy.

Admittedly, it surprised me that some people will yell at you for touching the mobs. I don't expect to be carried through a dungeon, but more often than not I find myself in the carry/leech scenario, because that's what people have come to expect. Yesterday, though, I was in a really nice party where the "carry" didn't mind whether or not we fought. It was a nice chance to practice actually playing the game. Most of the parties I've been in have been nice people, we've chatted, we've supported each other and generally had a good time grinding.

Although I like to fight, I also don't mind being carried. Some carries do it because they want to help lower level players. It was much appreciated when I was in my low 20's trying to get high enough to solo my story quests (though even then, I was trying to fight as well)

But I do find the carry/leech system has spoiled some players, and it's unfortunate. In one scenario, I was in a party full of people level 25-31. At 31 I was the highest level player after a lvl 35 player had quit. We just got a lvl 22 in the party, and went back in the dungeon on hell mode. I knew we could clear it, if we worked together. What happened was people running around like chickens with their head cut off, then rage quitting because they weren't being carried through. When we WERE clearing the rooms, and could have carried ourselves, if they had listened to the methods I and the lvl 29 working with me were trying to employ to get us through. We'd only had two deaths, mostly because people kept aggroing the lanterns out of the group.

Nobody wants to put up a good fight in a dungeon any more, and its a bit sad. I feel like at higher levels, I'm going to have no choice but to gain EXP by letting other players leech off of me, even though it's not something I really want to do, because no one seems to want to tackle dungeons TOGETHER.

Hi! I'm really a part-time MMO rank amateur, so if my take sounds so obvious it's silly just pass me by, but is the crux of your lament that there's no sense of "team family" in this game? Isn't this the role of a Guild, to keep players in sync and tune with another? Just asking. I also wish such "guild-like" teams (more formal and established than a "party") can be formed very early on, even as low as level 5 to gradually hone a group that learns and grinds and shares the bond and thrill of winning together. Maybe such groups ought get prizes just for its members sticking together long. Just rattling my two cents. I know I'm just a single-digit level babe under the feet of super pros here!

Hmm, my particular problem isn't really with the lack of guilds, just the lack of effort on the part of players with a level capable of clearing a dungeon along with those within a similar level rage, and don't want to either try or listen to others willing to help them do so. In other MMO's I've played, you can form random parties with those not in a guild and everyone does their part, rather than expecting the highest level player to carry them through. But the EXP system in this game doesn't lend itself to that very well. What I'm talking about is players that can clear a dungeon if they try (A whole party of lvl 25-31's, with only one significantly lower, for example) but would rather have a lvl 35-40 doing it for them because they aren't being carried, and refuse to learn how to rely on themselves.

Guilds might help. Or the guild system might degrade into higher level players forming guilds of leechers in order to carry them through for exp .__. I'm a solo player by nature so I'm not so much looking for a sense of family in the game or anything more than the casual chat here and there (though I wouldn't object to being involved in a good guild-I've met one player who would make an excellent guild leader given his knowledge, patience, and willingness to teach others how to play the game) Really the source of my frustration stems from people that just don't want to put up a fight, when they can, when they could win if they try, without a higher level player bringing them through.

So in a sense, yes. There is no sense of "team family" coming fourth. Nor is there a sense that people want to individually achieve more than getting EXP as fast as possible during a leech. I don't know how anyone can honestly be satisfied just leeching. I like a good fight, even if I die a few times in the process. Even better when I get away by the skin of my nose and don't die, and the whole party comes out successful.

Again, the thing is the game doesn't help in any of this, there's nothing promoting team play, the game right now makes you either solo or leech to level up in the most part, got no complaints on that and I even started an alt character a bit more on the side of tanking than damage (dex builds are squishy).

I'm already thinking that maybe this game's community sense might be a bit twisted, but I digress... I'm just hoping that this leeching fashion doesn't become permanent. :x

Reading about this leeching stuff i begin to feel worried about what kind of players i will have to deal with if one day i feel like partying (solo player here too).

One of the reasons i have quit my precedent game is stuff like this. Because mages are so overpowered, able to kill dozens of mobs in a few seconds by pressing only two keys, they are 4 of 5 people doing nothing as well in nearly all the groups, while the mage is doing all the work.

All that leads in the long run to tons of high level players who are high level noobs, without a fucking clue of how to play at all, because guess what, if you are only watching, leeching, and doing nothing during all your leveling, then you get good only at watching, leeching, and doing nothing...

Seriously it sucks to have to tell high lvl players to do correctly basic stuff you are supposed to learn at lvl 3, like telling a 100+ cleric that the buffs are not activated since 10 minutes you are playing with him, or seeing a wannabee tank that dont even know what the word aggro means.

It sure can look nice to want to help low lvl players, but its not necessarily a good thing to do too much...

Again, lol I'm pretty sure this thread is about a lack of communication not about flaws of the leeching system and people not doing their part >.>
If anything is to be said about the leeching system, it should be that yes it is flawed, deal with it, become a solo player if you don't like it (I tend to find quite a bit of stones and magatamas soloing dungeons anyways). Or that if you're that leecher in a party and not doing anything, you be the person to break the ice and get a convo started lol.

I'm sure it'll be permanent haha. But if carriers abandon this system, there might be some light at the end of the tunnel.
Anyways, I doubt guilds will be added to this game any time soon. In the meantime I think the next best option would be to find a group chat. GL with that though, they seem pretty exclusive as I've seen many images with people in group chats but only one or two have been openly posted on the forums accepting just anyone.
Also this game doesn't require much strategy (or communication thereof).. You don't really need tanks because they can be one shotted by most bosses. If a tank does have enough HP to take multiple hits from a boss like that, they're probably high enough level to one shot the boss themselves so I guess they'd be DPS and not so much tank lol... Healers are not necessary either as players can hot key healing items themselves and there isn't a resurrection skill.
The only communication I've notice that was needed during a fight was who kills what and where. It's kinda a waste to have 3 or 4 people spam AoE skills in one spot at the same time lol.
I could see guilds in this game one day, but CS would really have to balance out a lot of things in order to have a Shiroe step up.
Sorry this probably just reinforced your opinions of what this game lacks haha...

The reason a carry don't want you to touch the mob:
- You will distract some mobs if he's luring.
- The carry gets more exp for killing mobs as it will double in Exp Pool.
- The carry has higher chance to get 'Lucky Box' while you're not.
- If 1 person die, the total exp will be deducted, this affect whole party exp. (even though the amount of exp is not much)

You can see it as false info if you think it's not right.
