Onigiri without PVP is doomed.


It's completely relevant to compare prices in JP and EN. Actually thinking about it now, how exactly are you determining that Onigiri is full of greed? Is this based off your personal opinion of how much you want to spend?
Now, the fact remains, even items not related to exp are cheaper in EN. It's cheaper to obtain skill cards, ougi cards and outfits compared to JP. Cost-wise, that's enough evidence to show it's not exactly a scheme, considering EN had price reductions.
Btw, I quit EN to play JP. I know about the exp ratio, and while yes, it's better, it's not like you gain levels instantly. There is still a lot of grinding, and the game play is better but cost wise, I spend a lot more than I was in EN, which is why I cant agree that this game is entirely a scheme. (But I will agree it's a very well executed money pit..)

PVP bashing aside, I will say that if Cyberstep is seriously interested in making money, they would've implemented or currently be working on a good PVP system. Of course PVE players won't care, but wouldn't it make sense that PVP players will become more competitive and be more inclined to spend more money on the gacha for rank 6/7 skills and ougis? While I certainly don't support PVP for my own reasons, CS doesn't have anything to lose by implement a PVP system. A PVP system in this game will take a lot of modifying, so I'd assume it will take a while to develop one. In that case, just have patience. If they rush a PVP system as well, it'll probably fail miserably and lead to a huge influx of complaints.

Also I'm finding it a little contradicting, you say that CB has PVP but it still failed? Then isn't it possible Onigiri will still continue to collapse even after implementing PVP?

It's not actually contradicting my statement. Because CosmicBroken Survived more than a Year or two with more Players because of the PVP System.. What I am pointing out here is that this game would not survive a year or two without the PVP System.. Look what's happening to the server.. 3 months ago there are like 6 channels. Now, There are only 2 left.. And you rarely see new players joining in because they know how boring the game is with just hunting and farming without any PVP System or Guild System at all.. Look at the reality.. Onigiri is doomed without PVP.. And the more this devs doesn't make their move in implementing a PVP System, They will lose more and more players..

They are. I don't really know what else to say :/

I guess this topic is basically going back into discussing whether or not the game needs pvp but I'm pretty sure that's been done before.

I didnt ask those of Ragnarok, but the players of Hello kitty Online just said to me that a game can remain opened more than 5 years without any kind of pvp content at all.

Joke aside what i find contradictory is asking so much for a pvp system while thinking that the devs are greedy as hell. I can already see the future complaints "make Onigiri's pvp non p2w NOW, otherwise the game is gonna DIE !" :mrgreen:

did it EVER cross your mind that cosmic break has PVP because it is a PVP game? onigiri is a PVE game, deal with it. you want PVP? go play a fucking pvp game.

seriously.

on a sidenote:
pandemonium may look like its part of onigiri because it propably uses the same engine and the same assetts, that doesnt make it part of the same game, though. its also not THAT uncommonly done. especially when you consider that onigiris setting is basically a perfect fit for a MOBA style game.

oh and a small comment for those saying "clunky and slow" when looking at pandemonium: looking at numbers of active players the slower MOBAs are actually sporting the bigger playerbases.

As I have said before in the official suggestion thread, what this game really needs is improvement in it's already existing mechanics, rather than adding new ones. Something needs to be done to make leveling easier, so that going through the story line is more enjoyable, rather than forcing people to grind or seek carry. It's pretty annoying that the game has turned into a rush to the next grind spot for most players so that they can level. Shouldn't the story line itself provide more in the way of leveling for us? Shouldn't the game promote a system where one can become self dependent, and through that be a good asset to a party....rather than a leech carry system that bores both leech and carry...?

PVP will fix -none- of these issues, only increase their prevalence, because you'll need to leech or carry to get to a decent level in order to successfully PVP, unless PVP is implemented in a fashion that completely separates it from your actual character. To me, Pandemonium looks like a LoL style game imbedded in Onigiri itself as a sort of mini game. Probably has a system that somehow benefits the character outside of it through points or other rewards along with NPC's who's specific purpose is to throw you into the PVP dungeons/redeem rewards. That way "PVP" could be balanced without changing the mechanics of the actual characters.

Also, cries of doom and gloom are heard daily over the world channel of many popular PVP mmo's, where the playerbase also declines (Why? amusingly enough, because some people want to play the game without higher level jerks offing them as they try to quest. Because they enjoyed the PvE aspects and didn't want to be forced to PVP, or wanted PvP that was better than what the game had to offer)

So no, not every MMO needs PVP to survive, because there are a large quantity of players that -don't- actually want it. What this game needs to survive is more actual though put into what already exists.

Ehh... that's not quite how it works. Anyone who strictly cares about PvP enough to throw hundreds of dollars at it likely doesn't even play or they make up a very, very small minority of players. Onigiri is a PvE game. It's balanced as a PvE game.

Could a PvP system bring in more revenue? Of course. Having more options, assuming they're done correctly, is always objectively better for both the company and the players for the longevity of the game. Would the wider audience bring in enough additional revenue to overcome the development costs and produce the needed profit margin over the expected lifespan of the game? I doubt it. Onigiri already has its established group of whales to sustain it.

PvP isn't always a good thing. For every player who buys their way to the top there are ten others who outright quit because they don't see the point in trying to compete with such overwhelmingly one-sided odds. Things need to be done well to ensure things like that don't happen and that takes a lot of development time. Time is money. The cycle continues.

I for one support the concept of PVP for 2 reasons: A).It adds a sort of competitive atmosphere B). It will distract or give players something to do whenever they want to take their attention off the repetitive, doomed cycle of this game. (Grind,Farm Cash+Weaps nd Maga's etc.)<<rinse and repeat. However, I will backtrack and say PVP isn't necessarily the only to fill this void but one of the quickest ways to do this. Unless there is someone over at CyberStep who can think like Steve Jobs and create some new PERMANENT extracurricular content relatively fast.<<I say that because these little monster hunting events they host are straight garbage, aside from Dungeon Master, and Summer Festival which I feel was OK.

I feel this game needs to start thinking objectively, because only catering to PVE mechanics is going to scare away a whole niche of players who like PVP. I don't know that much about MMO's, but what MMO only restricts itself to only one play model?(PVE or PVP) every successful MMO i've heard of has both PVE and PVP...

As for the cash shop and the players that support, some good points where made. I myself don't roll the Nyankoropon that often, but I do budget my efforts to stay in the 1st menu of the shopping plaza. But @Annette to bag on the players who do both or one of the other kinda makes you sound salty(mad). Referring to these players as "Whales" o.0 lol.

I will say, if you can stay away from the Nyankoropon, you shouldn't have to throw hundreds or thousands of dollars at this game. You can reach the top tier as far leveling for roughly $20-$40 a month (200-400 oc) if you just focus on strictly building up on 200% boosts. If that's still a lot of money to some people, no offense but they should do some actual grinding in real life then.

its a pve focused mmo.

the game would be unbalanced as hell cause the game is not made for pvp. trust me i saw it first hand at warframe they added pvp due to the community's request so they stop whining about it and now nobody uses pvp anymore cause its so shit and unbalanced with insta kill's and overpowered skills.

trust me you REALLY don't want to do pvp in a game like this if you finished all the missions then just play a different game till a expansion comes out i mean the dev's aren't pointing a gun on your head to force to play this.

also don't forget that you die faster than mobs do if some mobs can remove 50% of your health then imagine the damage a player could do. balancing pvp for this would take months and could even delay future expansions

Agreed.

Besides, the staff have probably been asked to put PvP like a hundred times already. I'm sure they've considered it and reconsidered it just as much.

My only take on this: Considering the amount of requests from so many people, PvP will improve Onigiri by a whole lot but not if the system and balancing is rushed...


...so don't rush them.
