The difference in power between a typical player who either does not spend any money or spends a few dollars now and then compared to one who has purchased thousands, even tens of thousands of OC is ridiculously one-sided. The most balanced option would be normalization with available customization but I don't see that happening because it does not provide any additional incentive to spend money.


You just described 95% of the MMORPGs out there, but yeah, this is also a big problem too.

Let me refer to a quote that i just posted 2 pages ago.
If you've played enough MMORPGs that focus more on PVE than PVP, you know that no matter how good or committed the company is, it's nearly impossible to get a balanced/skill-cap orientated PVP without having PVE break it first. Let's say a non-MOBA type PVP was to be implemented in this game. Firstly, updates in PVE will always bring in stronger advancements to either jobs or skills, and thus it will require the devs to balance it upon PVP. Eventually, some skills will provide so much utility that people will begin complaining about how X skill or X class is absurdly OP. Not to mention, there's gonna be birth to an unneeded section of PVP elitists who will begin to treat the community and forums as if it's their own blog. Sooner or later, PVP will devolve into a part of the game where class will simply outdo skill regardless of how strong, or how hard you can read your opponent... and by then, it's probably already too late to fix and/or balance the game out. Go see Dragon nest or TERA PVP and you'll understand exactly what I'm talking about.

Put bluntly, if even the companies who've created big games can't implement a solid PVP system that doesn't get completely lobsided over time due to PVE, I highly doubt that C$ can do it either. Granted, there are VERY few exceptions to this kind of scenarios, but that usually happens because the game is more revolved around PVP mechanics than it is PVE (primary example being of such like Elsword or Grand Chase). I honestly think making the MOBA idea was a very smart approach to the unnecessary demand for PVP. It shows that they are aware that a "PVP" system in this kind of game simply won't work due to the game mechanics. I won't be making any calls here until I actually experience that pandemonium myself, but it's certainly much better than adding a crappy and imbalanced PVP system into a game like this.


tl;dr If you've actually played enough MMOs to see all kinds of PVPs go wrong, you would know that PVP isn't a matter of balancing damage.

What breaks PVP at high level is utility, not damage- and i highly doubt there is any way to balance utility with the kind of system this game is using. For one, almost every class except two lacks extreme mobility. Second, some have block, some don't. That in and of itself is enough to completely lobside the balance of PVP in this game IF there ever was to be one. And to reiterate, in case you might bring in some "its more about skill than class" argument.. might I requote that "Sooner or later, PVP will devolve into a part of the game where class will simply outdo skill regardless of how strong, or how hard you can read your opponent... and by then, it's probably already too late to fix and/or balance the game out" as the history of PVE-based MMOs have shown.

Go refer to the underlined part above in my quote. I don't want this game to become like that, and I HIGHLY doubt that, with the kind of targetting, playstyle, and engine that this game is using, PVP will hardly ever be balanced at any point in the game. It's not a matter of adjusting simple numbers. Implement PVP or not, it's not gonna make this game strive any more than it already is; it's just a mere excuse to wanting to show off your own e-peen in a game that's still absurdly primitive.

*I didn't read all the posts everyone made, so maybe everything have been said already*

Regarding the thread name
Onigiri US has little to do with what updates are pushed, as they are imported from JP version and adjusted accordingly to our version...
Not to forget, that developers who work on game mechanics are not the one who design character outfit...(with exception that they are short on workers..) but still, they have their own schedule...

Regarding PvP
Why everyone is so closed minded regarding the PvP?!
Close minded as in thinking that the PvP have to be based on 100% current game mechanics and stuff.

Here's a "simple" way how it can be done and worked around the current mechanics of the game to make it "balanced"

Stuff to add
Add arena
Make PvP avatars - To avoid absurd difference between players
exclusive PvP skills/weapons/magatamas - In order to adjust to the current mechanics without changing them
simple tier system - based on win count showing that the player is more experienced
more complicated tier system - you gain/lose pvp-exp with leveling up system

How can it work and what do I even mean
1.Simply; instead of using your existing character which is buffed up with items.. you create account/character bound "avatar" that will resemble you on the arena.
2.Afterwards you pick an arena exclusive weapon you want to use.
3.Go to "skill trainer" choose which skills you wish to add to your weapon based on which tier you are and what weapon type you chose(axe, sword, wand, bow.. etc)
Make the skills exclusive to the arena which are thought through and balanced as much as possible
Pick magatamas exclusive to the arena which are also balanced
4.The higher you progress through tiers as you win, you gain access to new skills and high level of the already unlocked ones as well as new items such as; different looking weapons with small changes in their stats and more/new arena magatamas.
5.Overall mechanics can remain, all that has to be done is just adjust arena items accordingly, to make the mechanics work for it with no change.

That's the only PvP that can work... or rather the only way to make it work... is make arena exclusive everything with "PvP avatar" to keep balance between the players as much as possible.

Unfortunately on most cases PvP doesn't increase population in games(it actually decreases due to rage quits. trolls, hacks and so on...), the only thing it will do in Onigiri; is keep the existing player base who tolerate the never ending grinding from leaving too soon - by occupying their break times from grinding, or just so they can spend time PvPing instead of grinding(that's if there will be some ranking system with rewards)

Either way, it's not up to us of how this stuff will work.

what did you even post for?

Not sure if you even got the idea, but..

1. I did not suggest any progression for main characters, I said progression for the "PvP Avatar" in "tier" way
2. Suggesting tiers for the arena, which wont limit anything, I never said there cannot be cross tier matches.
3. I do not suggest re-balance the whole game, in fact I encouraged to keep the current mechanics and use new items for the arena to compensate for lack of that same balance that you can see on PvE(as in; have you personally ever went to a dungeon with x4 defense magatamas equipped? most likely not, if you want to clear it, in that case your defense is equal to paper and you went full on SF+crit magatama so you can actually kill)
4. Not suggesting cash flow?! - Why would I even bother? I don't work for CS, so how to increase the income is not my problem or job.


So... what did you even post for?

lets try to make this simple:

1. the point of your "avatar" characters is to level the playing field. which you casually turn into an obsolete idea by making the "avatars" progress. (why the fuck would you even read "main characters" into what i wrote when i did not mention that in any way.)
2. cross-tier matches make the tiers obsolete.
3. creating new items IS a form of balancing. duh.
4. neither is it your job to make suggestions without putting any thought into it. but at least your ideas would be more likely to be helpful if you wouldnt make them stupid AND inprofitable.

its not about ideas, its about presentation of said ideas.

especially when you name ideas only to contradict said ideas in the very same post.
dont get me wrong here, im all for GOOD ideas. but i see no merit in random bullshit being thrown into a discussion that spans multiple topics allready. especially when bullshit is being posted as "the only way".

The idea behind making alternative character that will represent you on the arena is to avoid any disadvantages that would accumulate due to level difference items difference and so on...
(In additional it will allow players to fight each other regardless of their normal game progression)
I really doubt you would like to get your ass shredded by level 92 while you are level 91 only cause his weapon is way more stronger than yours.(that's how it currently works.)
You don't seem to like the idea of "avatar" or whatever that will represent you on the arena? sure.. here's alternative way to put same shit on different plate...
You go to arena/pvp ground/your personal hole, you are stripped of all your current items/stats and so on.. which is basically the same fucking shit and in fact by your own #4 will be "unprofitable"
progression of the arena avatar is necessary, if you want to keep people interested and make the profit out it(I still don't get it why you are so clingy towards CS profits...)
And the so called progression is through tiers or lets say ranking.. (played RH? same shit pvp.. just without your existing gear that makes one character imbalanced due to X factors)

Cross-tier matches wont be obsolete, if (as I already said) slight differences are made, cross-tier matches do not have to affect players progression either, thus making cross-tier matches just "for fun"

Creating new items IS balancing.. YES, YES IT IS, THAT'S THE FUCKING POINT... instead of rushing.. read and re-read what I said... in order to avoid current broken balancing, you create new items which will be balanced properly under already existing system of values.
And instead of creating new items.. they can recycle the same items non ever bothered using.. the weapons with 100 durability, defense magatamas and other trash.

I put enough thought in to my post, and I read what others reply very carefully, something you don't.

^Best quote in the thread. And yes, i'm throwing a not so subliminal shot at everyone who out right disagrees with PVP with the quote above. Specifically aiming at the individuals who are shutting down the concept of PVP completely; offering no kind ideas to actually make PVP possible. Only talking about what's imbalanced and how much PVP wouldn't work in this game etc. Your chasing away a whole niche of players with this "PVE Only" mindset.

@Moriya: True, I've played a little Dragon Nest before and watched many PVP videos and it is lopsided as far as classes. (Assassin being the META as of now.) Despite that, many people STILL PVP regardless of all the imbalances; OP skills, classes etc. Personally I would rather have imbalances in PVP vs what Onigiri has now; Grind,Farm Cash,weps,maga's. (Rinse and Repeat until the end of time). As far as elitists go that's too late to avoid as that's already present in Onigiri. Elitists here have existed since this game dropped lmao.
