[Guide] Status Points -- Work in Progress

Postby SupremeTentacle » 05 Jun 2015, 10:34

We're in pretty desperate need of a guide that covers this, as AutismKnight's guide is uh... incorrect to say the least. Anyways, let's get started. Status points are one of the important parts about your character. They will not only dictate the types of weaponry that you are able to use efficiently, but also allow you to customize your character to some extent, so that it can better suit your playstyle. Each of the core stats has accompanying bonuses. Setting affinity aside, the bonuses should dictate the way that you decide to build your character.

Power
Grants affinity for swords, odachis and axes every point
Grants affinity for all non-magical weapons once every 10 points, up to a maximum of 100 points
Adds a bonus to attack speed once every 12 points
Adds a small bonus to hp every point

Vitality
Grants affinity for spears every point
Adds a bonus to hp and HP recovery every point
Adds a bonus to defense and a smaller bonus to magic defense every point

Wisdom
Grants affinity for Wands every point
Adds a bonus to hp and SP charge speed every point
Adds a bonus to SP pool every other point
Grants a small reduction in SP costs for wands and staves every 10 points, up to a maximum of 100 points
Adds a bonus to critical rate every 24 points

Mind
Grants affinity for staves every point
Adds a bonus to SP and SP charge speed every point
Adds a bonus to cooldown reduction every 24 points
Adds a bonus to magic defense, and a smaller bonus to defense every point
Allows the use of certain buff spells upon reaching spell-specific threasholds

Dexterity
Grants affinity for twin swords and bows every point
Adds a bonus to critical rate every 12 points
Adds a bonus to attack speed every 24 points
Adds a bonus to cool down reduction every 12 points

Note that the bonuses to attack , critical rate and cooldown reduction scale additively with one another. That is the formulas for them are as follows
Critical Rate = (truncate) [(Wis + {Dex * 2})/24]
Attack Speed = (truncate) [(Dex + {Pow * 2})/24]
Cooldown Reduction = (truncate) [(Mind + {Dex * 2})/24]

So with that out of the way, let's look at the five character types that will dictate your stat growth:

Stat priority of 1 means that it experiences the most growth. Note that you will not see any innate stat growth after lv. 105 (perhaps 100? not confirmed.) So what do you choose? Do you have to use the power type just because you want to use a power-based weapon? Surprisingly, the answer to that is no. While you do get a slight bit more affinity, when you're near level cap, you only have 1 more power using the power type than you would using the daring type. This is honestly not a very significant change in your attack stat, assuming that you have not reached max affinity. Hence, its best to choose a type that matches your playstyle. I've made some reccomendations below.

Sword, Axe and Odachi
Daring
Allows for maximum damage output. Take Power if you're feeling too squishy, but keep in mind that you won't get much tankier anyways.

Wands
Kind or Cautious
Kind gives you more sustain, cautious gives you more DPS

Staves
Kind
Gives you maximum affinity and minimum mana costs (or at least lets you have them sooner rather than later)

Spears
Power
Affinity pls

TS and Bow
Daring
Same as spear

More details to come when I'm feeling less lazy, but that should be the gist of it.

So how do you build? Well to start, you first choose one type of weapon you want to use... and essentially max out your affinity for it. Keep in mind you can get titles to help you along with that. Once that's done, you branch into your own preferences. Most people get Dex because of the huge amount of benefits it provides. 40 Mind is also a staple so you can cast rapid storm on yourself. The rest is purely up to your personal preference. Keep in mind that between Lv 101 and 110, you will get 100 extra maximum possible affinity per level, and that from Lv. 111 to 120, you will gain 400 extra maximum possible affinity per level.

With level 120 cap in place, the affinity cap reaches 8k.

Feel free to let me know if I missed anything.
Selling all of my gear for ~40% of its market value!
~4 lv. 108 to 115 weapons remaining
Some skill card 7's, ougi, orna'd maga and other stuff too!

I remember that I've looked around and have failed to find a definitive answer to this question: How many status points will you have accumulated by level 115? (...or level 120 in the JP version at this point in time)

Also, does increasing friendship level with Amaterasu grant the player some status points?

IIRC, I've heard that players can have 2127 total status points (in the US server at level 115). However, no one confirmed this number nor presented a different number. Perhaps the actual total is around 21xx...?

Thank you very much for this guide. I'm sure new players will find this guide useful.

Tekato (115) confirmed it via ss and stat reset.

My suggestion for stat points (for ts and bow) would be to use Cautious early on (if you're willing to use a stat reset later on) and switch to daring when you get the free stat reset (or whenever appropriate) since the passive sp recovery helps a lot at the start.
