[Question] Ibaraki Friendship Level & Liquor

Postby Xylanze » 28 Jun 2015, 23:13

Hi there,

I recently heard that people have recommended friendship levels for Miroku because of access to items (e.g. Negotiation level 5 for Amara Magatama and Negotiation level 7 for Wadatsumi Magatama via "Bargains"). This has also been referenced in another post here: http://onigiri.cyberstep.com/_/forum/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=8003.

Perhaps Ibaraki Douji has items that are exclusive to some friendship level. Perhaps at some level of "On the House," she would allow you to access some sort of very useful Liquor... or perhaps at some other friendship level, there would be a great Liquor available in her store.

What is a recommended friendship level for Ibaraki, and what good item is accessible at that level?

Thanks in advance!

To be clear in regard to what this thread is about, allow me to clarify further.

I'm not looking for a source of data (which is the wiki that you linked. Quite a useful tool though). I am looking for people's recommendations. I've looked at Ibaraki's section on "On the House" liquors, and I haven't found anything that makes me think "hmm.... I should raise Ibaraki's level for that item." This led me to wonder if others (perhaps) might be generous in sharing their recommendations.

Again, I am looking for other people's recommendations that make them think, "OH! That item is good! I should raise Ibaraki to that level."

Thank you for your response.

I don't think any of the "on the house" liquors are really worth withholding friendship items for. The liquor capacity cap increase helps with stacking sake when grinding. If you see anything you like, you can add it to the golden ladle for a free refill (every 30min -.-") before leveling Ibaraki. One which I like is Dazzling Capital since it makes it hard to run out of sp as long as you have meditation, but it's also not entirely practical (drains 90% of your sp on usage). I can't remember the level, but it was somewhere around Kusatsu, iirc anyway.

Ah... I think I sold it on accident too... I think Ibaraki was unable to use the form (probably due to a glitch I didn't know about), so I got rid of it somehow. It's too bad it happened early in the game when I was still getting used Onigiri...

Chidori / Mist Tengu (Or the magic attack equivalent if you're a wand/staff... I forgot the name) / One free slot of your own choice

Chidori grants cooldown to your skills (somewhere between 30-40% depending on the bottle you are using) so there's really no reason not to use it as every weapon is dependent on their skills.

Mist Tengu (Or the magic equivalent) can give you up to 3k physical (or magical) attack stat (Which isn't shown in the status menu) and since attack and damage don't scale linearly (The more attack you have the more damage you do exponentially), there's no real reason to not use this either. Even staves can make use of it as many of their skills scale off attack as well.

As for the free slot... that just depends on your build/playstyle. Without knowing what weapon and skill you use, it's pretty hard to recommend anything at all. For example, I once ran wheatsplosion to counteract the still repose/stop effect that reapers have in pipe 3. Usually I run one of the two resolute alcohols.

The above 3 are what I know to be typically used, but again, I don't know whether you would find any use for them as you haven't provided much information regarding what you are looking for other than "What is a recommended friendship level for Ibaraki, and what good item is accessible at that level?".

Oh wow, this is a good deal of information to respond to. Thank you for the information so far, everyone!

Seems like Chidori is a nice liquor for most classes then. Before these posts, I was unsure whether or not Chidori's cooldown reduction was worth a Liquor slot. Now, I'm leaning in favor of using it. As for Ibaraki's level, Chidori is accessible starting at level 1 (Sommelier and Friendship Level) by giving a recipe to Ibaraki (according to the wiki's Liquor Shop section).

Unfortunately, Miyako Tachibana and I lost the recipe... so the only other way to access it is through "On the House" by maintaining Ibaraki's "On the House" Level at 6, which is limited to Friendship Levels 23-26 according to the wiki.

Thanks to Ryxa's explanation of the P. Attack stat, I can now understand that Mist Tengu can prove very useful for physical attackers. Mist Tengu is available through a recipe, starting at Sommelier Level 8 (or Friendship Level 28 and up). Mist Tengu or Asuka can be obtained with Lacquered Gourd & "On the House" between Friendship Levels 14-16 ("On the House" Level 3).

Also, it seems that Fuujin Raijin has a similar effect. Fuujin Raijin is accessible via recipe, starting at Sommelier Level 5 (Friendship Level 15 and up). Fuujin Raijin doesn't seem to be accessible by "On the House."

The magic equivalents seem to be Evening Echizen and The Tale of Genji. Evening Echizen is accessible via recipe starting at Sommelier Level 2 (Friendship Level 3 and up). The Tale of Genji is accessible via recipe starting at Sommelier Level 5 (Friendship Level 15 and up). Neither of the magic equivalents seem to be accessible through "On the House."

Quite an understandable comment about choices of Liquor due to playstyle & build. (Side-note: I plan to be a DEX-type, leaning more towards twin blades.) I'll look over the two resolute alcohols and Wheatspolsion in another reply since this one is already lengthy.

My underlined text (above) is a start to answer "What is a recommended friendship level for Ibaraki?" The underlined text describes the Sommelier Level/"On the House" Levels that correspond to a Friendship Level. These levels correspond to a useful liquor. To continue answering the original question, I would look over the underlined levels and recommend one of them, like so:
"Hmmm... if someone can't get Chidori, maybe friendship level 23 to 26 would be good. Chidori could be 'on the house' like that. Plus, a player could buy Fuujin Raijin (or magic equivalents) in the shop at that level, right? Maybe Fuujin Raijin could replace Mist Tengu... Yeah, I guess I would recommend keeping Ibaraki Douji's friendship level between 23 and 26. My recommended level could change depending on the level that players get a 3rd Liquor slot... or maybe when I know more about the game in general."

TL;DR: From my (still) lacking understanding of Liquor, a recommended friendship level for Ibaraki Douji is between 23 and 26... if you can't buy Chidori from the liquor shop. Read above (just one paragraph above) for my reasoning. Reading even higher, you can find useful Liquors corresponding to underlined levels.

Honestly, if you can't get Chidori anymore, make a new character. (You *might* be able to trade a chidori recipe back to your main. I'm not sure if it's tradeable, but it should be.)

It is literally the most important alcohol. Not maxing Ibaraki is just silly. You already get drunk way too easily.

Not having Chidori requires the player to have at least one more offensive weapon.

Some weapons cannot even function without Chidori. For example, I can't even infinitely use Asura spin with axe unless I have THREE axes and chidori. Taking chidori away would force me to have more than four axes with double asura, which is flat out impossible.
