Crag Gargoyle is the only one I've beaten. Also the only one I've bothered fighting. It's the easiest Gargoyle I think. Golden Weapon Hunt Youen is a good one. I run that a lot. Normal provides lots of red/gold weapons normally found in Sekigahara, Hard provides same from around Nakasendo (I believe) and Hell is from... Echigo I think, or maybe Edo. Not sure. Youen is pretty good for farming Aidama if you have Drop Boosts since it's not *that* hard to clear. Aidama are worth 15 points each so it's easy to rake those in.

You missed the Blue Moon Blade while you were gone though. It was an Odachi that CS were giving away for free over Christmas time. Not much to look at, but it's a noobs best friend. If you spam POW, VIT or DEX, you do insane damage with it. BMB is pretty OP like that up until around Edo/Echigo area, then it becomes useless. Still, it was free, came with Tsubame Gaeshi VI, Icicle Massacre V, Blazing Swing V and Ougi Blistering Ice Wave V, and more bonuses than I care to list. You'll see a lot of noobs running around with that, bragging about how strong they are.

So it's a bad idea to enter them as a wand/staff?

No wonder I died every time I tried to cast any spell with a slightly longer cast time :x

Oh, wand and staff can also guard now.

Forgot about that one XD.

Wait wands and staffs can guard? Do they have some other key for guarding since the shift key still puts me into the mana regen state :x

:x I just took a look at the wiki page for blue moon blade... I kinda regret missing that, though it probably wouldn't have done anything for me since I use MND/WIS and I just got to the sewers xD

Inferno: Freezing Bullet (rank V+)

Levi: Hellfire (rank V+)

Sleet: Thundercrash/ Earth Glaive (rank V+)

oh... So that's why I couldn't even scratch the gargoyle... I picked inferno gargoyle without knowing anything and kept shooting hellfire at it @.@

Maybe I'll try Levi gargoyle next time :x If inferno gargoyle requires ice based skills then I don't think I can fight him since the only ice based skills I carry on my staffs is frost glaive VII and I don't think the gargoyles stay still long enough for me to cast it @.@

Same key. Charging and Guarding are just overlapped. If you guard for a small amount of time, then, no durability is taken, though.

Does that mean if I'm charging my mana using the mana regen state and a mob hits me, the hit will be guarded as if I was guarding or does the guard state only last for short duration before switching to mana regen state (which would mean that I have to time my guards instead of just holding down the shift key the whole time)?

You guarf constantly but if you block just as it hit it deals no dmg when you start to regen sp it no longer perfect blocks.

=o Well I'll probably end up using the normal guard more often than the just guard >< I'm pretty bad at timing guards (literally 0 practice, never used a weapon outside of wands and staves xD) and just being able to guard is good enough (at least I won't have to roll around after every cast and hope that I don't accidentally run myself into a corner)

XD, you have got to get good at just guarding, there is a certain boss later that requires you block, ie: giant laser of death that goes into 180 degrees in front of the boss. Also keep rolling, you'll need it.

Should mention, just guarding gives you increased spell cast speed for a few secs and doesn't cost stamina. You can train on those youkai that use slow moving fireballs, easy to predict and get used to blocking

Aburasumashi are good for training Just Guard. Kappa/Punk Kappa are too. Nurikabe/Akamekabe are pretty slow, so that's good for getting timing right also. Basically any slow mofo is good to train against. Once you've got the timing down you should be able to pull it off consistently. As long as you don't have FPS lag or high ping that is.

180 degree laser? You mean the giant blob of flesh in the sewers with floating eyeballs around him? If so, I killed him after running circles around him and shooting hellfire at him.

I'll try but since I'm playing from China as well, I don't have the confidence in being able to block perfectly every time ><

By the way, what does dark gate geki even do? I used the Nyankoropon and got it. Is it just a more damaging dark gate or does it actually do something else?

It's a different boss, but it's still possible without just guarding. Just Guard wasn't introduced until some time after those bosses, after all.

Geki Skills are pretty much just upgraded regular ougi skills. The only thing different about them is the skill force and durability usage afaik.

eg. Dark Gate VI
min SF: 463
Dura: 26

Dark Gate Geki (Mega? not too sure on the name...) VI
min SF: 731
Dura: 77
