Is it true that there's a chance you won't get the weapon you want when you complete the improved weapons quest? Getting gems and crafting the 105 weapons takes a massive amount of time and effort and I really think adding such a chance like that is unnecessary. I'm all for farming the gems and what not but just knowing I could end up with an entirely different weapon I can't use after spending weeks getting all the gems it's just nerve wracking. Like the moment I see I got a veteran axe instead of rising crossvolts I feel like I will quit playing the game forever.

Unfortunatly this is very true, the guy who gives you the quest will even tell you this and when you look on the wiki at the quest reward you will see it as a unknown weapon that needs to be analysed. The best way to get around this is do the improved weapons - staff quest as out of all them that is the easist becuase all you need is a bloodsucker which is pips to get and the scarlet gems are easy to get that you think, if you wanna know how to farm them let me know.

I'd appreciate any tips. I usually do mine of delusions on hard solo and hell when I'm in a party for my scarlet and myrtle gems. I solo mine of boukyaku on hell to grind xp and have got a few cerulean and myrtles that way.

Yeah you have the right idea, make sure it's a five man for more spawns and just so you know the spiders and the flys are the ones that drop teh gems so you want to go on that route through teh dungeon and leave before the boss. Rinse and repeat and you should get 5 gems in almost and hour maybe longer depending on clear speed.

I thought the gems only dropped from bosses. I would be happy just getting 1 gem an hour at this point rather than 1 every 3 days. Thanks for the tip.

No problem and yeah I thought that until a friend showed me the way so to speak XD If you check the wiki for Scarlet Gems it does say what enemies drop the gems and if you open up the page for the dungeon you can check which enemies spawn. Just make sure you get the right route, I believe its the left most route.

Mine of delusion: kill earthworm, fly, and rockthrower for scarlet gem. You can get at least 3 scarlet gems from hell mode of party of 3 and above in an hour during log in boost. Easily get more than that during fever. Mytyr gem can also drop from mine of byoukoku (the popular nue dung).
