I've been grinding on a Kyoto dungeon. 3 minutes to clear, 1500 xp all up. Takes about an hour to level @20ish.
So 10x that would be about 15k xp per run.
Then 20x3 and you get 300k xp per hour.

I see a lot of you guys defending Onigiri's exp rates by saying you can grind for this long and level up, but what you aren't acknowledging is that you haven't even reached 1/5th of the level cap and you already need to grind. Not only that, but grinding starts even before that point. That is not the ideal way to play a game. I understand just like you guys that we are higher level than most, we have a better grasp of when to dodge, when to switch to ranged or melee, how to recognize patterns in bosses, etc, things that come with playing the game longer than other players. But we are all still running through dungeons where the monsters are more than 10 levels higher than us requiring us to continue grinding to continue along the storyline. This game is turning out to be 90% grind, 7% storyline, 3% true amusement, and 100% frustration. If you consider grinding for hours a fun game then keep that to yourself or don't be so arrogant as to view your ideology that consists of 5% of the gamers as absolute, and let everyone else vent.
Sincerely,
Senpai

The EXP rates in EN version are lacking, this can not be denied.
However...

Adapting the JP EXP rates into the EN would be complete BS. The JP rates are in fact to high. Players blasting through the game because of bloated EXP rates is no fun.

Everything else I've looked at (Video wise) suggests this is because they whore damage-related stats, and get torn like paper if they get hit. They'd prolly slow down if they balanced in some defensive stats. Also, there are 105 levels, and it supposedly gets grindy around 39~40, doubt it's that bad.

Anything, even 3-5x current as opposed to 10x current, is better than what we have now though.

I'd prefer the same treatment as the original version. It's never good when a game is more grindy than it's Asian original. Usually it's the other way around. Either way, I'm thinking no one would troll with the same material - aka the exp rate is good, so I'm guessing this Majora person is just stupid. I mean all he does is repeat how butt hurt everyone is. I think he's not butt hurt because he likes it up the bum.

Besides an increased EXP rate the one thing i want from the JP version the most is there tutorial it tells us the same thing the current one does but its longer.

In the US version it has us kill the Daruma with basic attacks then skills, tells us about dodging/guarding, weapon switching then we fight Tiamat.

In the JP version, for basic attacks and skills we kill the Daruma twice, for dodging/guarding it has us fight a Kappa and for weapon switching we fight a giant crab then move onto Tiamat.

I would be ok with lower EXP rates but this is a little to low since we get 1/10th the exp from quests and if i read it right we get 1/6th from mobs but i would have to check that again.
I would be ok if it was 1/5th of JP version.

I don't want this game to turn out like the original silkroad online did even with a 200% exp boost 4 hours of grinding got you 10% at most at lvl 54 and the lvl cap was 110 back when i played. But thats also the players fault for not grinding a shit ton of skill points at lower lvls. since high skill lvls = high exp low sp gain but low skill lvls = low exp gain high sp gain

I think people are confusing me with the OP, such similar names...

Anyway it sounds like the release version of the game will pretty much cover everyone's bases. The grinders will have their veteran levels, and xp will be decent enough for everyone to be happy. I do agree with the OP in that I think this game is super fun, and the fun I've had hasn't been in the grinding in all: its been in playing with friends, doing dungeons and such. I like the combat system a lot too. I was just scared of the xp being too high, me hitting the cap really quickly, and then losing a bit of interest.

All things considered I'm sort of surprised there's been so much drama here there and everywhere about the xp rates, when it's just for testing purposes.

Think most people are concerned they won't fix the non-Hell Modes, etc in OBT. Might happen, might not, hoping it does. XD

I enjoy the exp rate as is. The normal experience would sort of make this feel like, should I say, a private server at this point. That's how I felt when I was playing blindly through the jp server and just grinding in the first field and first few dungeons to level 20 with no prior knowledge of the game. The way it's set up now actually gave me a chance to get a real grip on the game without feeling too bloated on exp.
