That might have been nuked on our servers like Orb of Light supposedly was, idk though. XD

I meant for the ENG CBT. I was a little wrong on my initial take on staff - that, AND my first character I made was training the wrong stat.

Talisman however, seems to be utter garbage still.

Hm, Talisman's that bad? Thought it was fairly okay, though it's easy to get really "bad" wands that hit no weaknesses. lol.

I didn't like wands from how hard it was to get going. Early on, it took almost half of my mana to just cast fireball and that seems incredibly underwhelming. Is there a level where it starts working better? I'll admit I didn't play very long but I honestly couldn't take the playstyle doing no damage or breaking my talisman trying to regen mp.

tbh I think wand are for elemental boss, their skills diverse from a lot of elemental attacks. Plus their range attack allow them for hit and run tactic. Pretty much a boss killer imo.

Odachi's with Sword of Avidya is just plain one-shot-kill. Pretty OP imo ;)

I'm running a wand/staff hybrid right now and here's my 2 cents about wands.

Beginner level wands aren't all too special and their SP cost for their skills are above average, but it's not until you hit the higher levels when the get better. Spells like Fireball 1 and 2 will become your staple damage spell with ice bolt, electric bolt, and the new wind one as just elemental variation. However the ice bolt has a change of freezing enemies.

It's only when you start getting wands with AOE skills where you start to become more than just a ranged support. I just recently got a wand with "Call Thunder V" and although it drains 158 SP, it deals a powerful linear AOE to mobs at my level. Now I'm still waiting for my "Ice Pillars" to appear...

I think I've only seen 1 other wand user so far so I can't really tell if they can deal as much damage as power users. But for now, wand users seem more like ranged support in most parties, while being MVP against highly mobile bosses (*Coughcough* stupid fly...)

Could see Pow+Wis or Dex+Wis working for those instances where you don't want your wand out, yeah. So pretty much till you get those fancy AoEs. Feels like the set of "viable/gimmicky but good" skills is kinda small in general.

Do you mind sharing your stat distribution? 158 sp seems like a lot of course. How do you feel compared to archers as ranged support?

Edit: I tried it again with the better exp rates and it seemed a lot more workable. Having the regular attacks actually do something and not being down by a lot of exp made it much better to level until your spells start taking off. Definitely something interesting to try out

I've only seen 2 person who uses a bow extensively instead of just an SP regen device (but both person were at least 4 levels higher than me so I could not get any good data from it) but I think I can say that bow users get their small AOE attacks at a much earlier time than wand. I believe bow has slightly better overall dps than wand, but most people just switch to twin swords instead.

For the wand, it's all about the AOEs and when your spell costs become extremely low.

bow is non-elemental range damage dealer, while mage is elemental range damage dealer.

For those mobs and bosses who don't have any elemental weakness, bow is better
For those who have elemental weakness, wand is better

Bows also have elemental shots. Lightning Shot seems to end up on every bow I identify, so... Oh, and there's also those elemental Rapid Shots. Those deal enhanced damage, in addition to an element. And those cost, like, 16 SP or so, and you can use them again right after a normal combo.
