Well, I just got 3 sp from my successful attack. If it scaled off of wisdom or mind, that'd be a viable solution. For now, the big thing is that we run out of sp for our heavy hitting abilities.

Edit: to be fair, its more than 3 sometimes but I do see 3 sp ticks and thats kinda amusing and frustrating

Do you realize successful attacks only give you 20 something sp our skills cost 130 sp i have to grind for my next skill. Meanwhile oodachi player nuke the mobs for much higher then i can and they can do it 10 times before they run out of mana....

Might not be my place to post since I'm still kind of new, but isn't that what SP recovery items are for? Granted I would prefer being able to dish out more than like 4-5 Kamaitachi II before running out of SP. But attacking, then falling back to restore my SP is a fun play-style as well once you get used to it. Sure, Oodachi users have it easier, but I think that having ranged attacks has its advantages.

Just checked the higher skills... well i did not anticipate their mana cost to grow that high.

It seem that the nerf this time is quite harsh

This is my first time using ranged weapons so im im just surprised by the huge gap for wand users. Is open beta going to fix this? If not im switching back to close range lol...im sure many wand users feel these restraints.

This is what I've experienced and tested it for myself and found it's solution.

It seems that you need some stats in your alternate weapon before you can unleash it's power.
First Aid I has no stats requirement.
First Aid II has a 20 MIND requirement.

I have only tested it with Staves, since I only have one character with hybrid build. Have you ever found a staff with Invigorate II and you thought "Hey cool, I can give SP to allies!" but then you found out that the skill fails too many times to be actually useful? (exactly what happened to me) Probably that Rank II of the skill demanded you to have at least 20 MIND to work properly. I didn't found any staff with Invigorate II to test again, so I'm just speaking theoretically.

I leveled a wand character to level 29 and I must say there is some truth about wand user scaling up better at higher levels, at level 29 I could spam 5-6 rank III spells consecutively without SP pots as the higher WIS stats meant a higher max SP pool, SP regen and possibly lower SP cost for skills(cant quite point my finger on all the factors that affect this but take a look at my screenshot on this thread viewtopic.php?f=10&t=2488 - 100 and 98 SP cost spells costing less than 62 Sp to cast, 4th post).

I soloed all bosses in kyoto when I was around level 25-28, and could have probably done it on lower levels but with alot more kiting and SP pots. However, I must add that from what I know up to the end of cbt, bow users could achieved the same results or better with probably less effort, though the gap between the two ranged classes had slighly been reduced in the late 20s. Hopefully wands do catch up later on.

Use SP pots(1-5 is usually sufficient for most dungeons). Wand users need to Spam SP pots while melee users are more likely to spam more HP pots and bows have durability issues. I guess thats the trade-off.

My point here is that SP cost/consumption isnt the issue for me. This problem seems go away in later levels but the issue I have with wand users is the damage output. Bows deal much higher single target damage but at the same time, wands have pretty crappy AOEs( there are a FEW decent aoes but cant even be compared with the odachi, heck even some of the bow aoes can compete with it). If the aoes were great id be happy but it seems that the wand just doesn't excel in anything at the moment.

The original skills on it were some crappy rank III spell on 1st slot (aqua geyser i think - one of the most rubbish skill imo), darkness pillar III on the the 2nd and fireball I. so i basically smelt and random off the 1st slot to spiral winds, and later used skill evolution on following smelts to raise fireball I to flamestrike III. long and painful process.

Wand and staff skills take lower sp as you increase wisdom. So I would imagine as you reach the higher wisdom tiers, the sp cost problems get somewhat reduced.

Also, bow AOE didn't seem that bad when I played it though I had White Peacock IV on like 2 bows which was a reasonable long range aoe. My bow user definitely felt better than my wand user by a large margin.
