New player questions.

Sorry, but there doesn't exactly seem to be a board for this. I've just discovered the game (this post isn't really to introduce myself).

I think I have a good grasp on the character or class system (in that there really is no classes), but as for the character type selection in the character creation: 1. will this affect my base stats? Will the character type I choose receive different stat growth from leveling up?

I think I want to be an axe wielder, but you don't receive an axe upon selecting the "Power" character type. But you do get an axe upon selecting the "Daring" character type. 2. Which type is better for axe, and which stats should I focus on raising?

Few more basic questions:

The current CBT test is running until June 19th and the official website states that the official launch is on July 1.
I guess that means there will be no OBT test.

I see stuff about cash shop sales on the front page - 3. does that mean they won't be wiping character data after CBT?

Last, 4. is this a theme park or sandbox MMORPG? The classless weapon system seems to imply a sandbox game, but how does leveling and making your character stronger work? Do you level by going from quest marker to quest marker or mowing down monsters with a party? Does the game point you where to go or do you have more freedom?

5. Is there any PVP?

1.

Yes. Your base stats will increase a certain way based on the class that you choose.

After the first few levels, your character will start to gain base stats on their own. These will increase by certain amounts based on the type you picked. For example, daring will have more dex and power as its naturally obtained stats, maxing out on 25 dex and 24 power naturally if you don't add any stats by level 100. (These are the X in (Stat # + X))

2.

Power and Daring tropes both work for Axes.

Power if you want more natural hp/def increase.
Daring if you want more natural crit increase

These don't matter that much right now because people start dispersing their stats around the middle levels (you cap at 100 of a stat). Later on, you may want to worry about achieving ideal stat numbers based on other factors. But again, that isn't relevant at the moment. Just enjoy the game.

3.

You do not recieve cash items until release. CBT will be wiped.

4. You follow a generally set storyline to unlock more areas. After that, what you do is up to you.

5. There are 1v1's in the JP server as of now. They may consider adding more later.

Hope this was helpful.

Choosing your character "type" will affect your base stats eg: power gives the highest starting pow/vit.
All characters receive the same benefits from stats regardless of starting personality/type as far as it's been recorded.
Both types can be suitable for axe, it's a matter of playstyle preference as to whether you want to be a slightly less glass cannon or full class cannon.
Axe will rely solely on power for increased efficiency but having dex can indirectly benefit the axe to some extend as well, just not in raw damage.

Looking at their schedule so far it's probable that there's no obt.

About their cash shop, it's a pre-purchase campaign and rewards will be given during the start of the official launch and as such all characters will still be wiped after CBT is over.

This is your average mmorpg with a quest progression system and you still maintain a level/stat distribution type of advancement. You level from doing quests (not so much this cbt, but that may change for full release) and killing monsters/grinding dungeons. The game basically points you where to go for the main quests you can revisit a lot of previous towns to obtain new sidequests.

As of this cbt there is no pvp; however, in the jp version there is a form of pvp being duels although I personally haven't seen/done any duels with anyone. Other than that I don't think any form of pvp exists yet.

Alright.

If I play with a friend, will we be able to play and progress completely together? Or is there a lot of solo questing?

Thanks for the information on character types - still, I'm guessing if I wanted to use an axe I should put all my stat points into Pow (until it's maxed).

What about dual wield? I'm interested in that too, but I'm worried that there might be so many dual wielders that people won't really want or need them in the party. Are they full DEX?

Also, are there mounts available in this game?

Is spear the only weapon type meant for tanking?

You can do everything together.

Quite literally everything.

Yes, axes = full power <3
Dual swords are full dex.

No mounts are available.

If you hybrid stat, you can use another weapon and have high vit. However, tanking in this game is impractical in the first place.

Yeah you can progress together at any time and as far as I know all of the main quests can be done together, although with drop quests you may have to wait a bit for you/your partner to get the necessary items.

the twin blades are there but it's not really something people will exclude you from a party for since you can change weapons at any time and parties aren't really based on weapons per say, unless you hold really role specific things such as staffs/spears.
Twin blades can go full dex, although I personally wouldn't recommend doing but it's just a preference of my own.

There aren't any mounts in the game as of yet.

And again, beaten to the punch for the answer x.x

Every main quest is doable with a party, there are way too many dual wielders/bow users.. but yeah full dex.

No mounts so far.

Spears are the best for tanking since they have defensive skills and increasing vitality increases your defense so when blocking you take 1-10 damage from everything. There are also staff skills that give others defense buffs but a spear user can have that on his spear without relying on someone else.

You need to tank in this game later on, people just haven't seen the rest of the game past kyoto. Mob types change, and they get attacks that hit multiple times (5+) and follow/home on you even if you dodge.

Every character carries 4 weapons at a time that you can freely switch between even during combat.

I do not recommend putting all your stat points into one stat you will either end up a Glass Cannon or a Meat Shield with no damage.
Monsters are not weaklings in this they can and will kill you easily, its why we have a dodge and block system.

I don't think there are mounts

Is there any skill building to make you more proficient in a certain weapon or is it literally just the stats?

I don't know if I really like the idea that as a Power type if I want to use an axe, I'll be just as good with a bunch of other weapon types simply because I have power.

It doesn't seem like this game has any roles or specializations really.
