^Best quote in the thread. And yes, i'm throwing a not so subliminal shot at everyone who out right disagrees with PVP with the quote above. Specifically aiming at the individuals who are shutting down the concept of PVP completely; offering no kind ideas to actually make PVP possible. Only talking about what's imbalanced and how much PVP wouldn't work in this game etc. Your chasing away a whole niche of players with this "PVE Only" mindset.

@Moriya: True, I've played a little Dragon Nest before and watched many PVP videos and it is lopsided as far as classes. (Assassin being the META as of now.) Despite that, many people STILL PVP regardless of all the imbalances; OP skills, classes etc. Personally I would rather have imbalances in PVP vs what Onigiri has now; Grind,Farm Cash, weps, maga's. (Rinse and Repeat until the end of time). As far as elitists go that's too late to avoid as that's already present in Onigiri. Elitists here have existed since this game dropped lmao.

You do realize it's not just a simple matter of "If you don't like PVP, don't participate in them" statement right? Due to the nature of how much PVP feeds a person's ego, sooner or later, it becomes accepted as the main part of the game and it will become a "necessity" to keep up with PVP if you don't want to look like a complete newbie. It's what's happened to every single PVE game so far that's implemented a PVP system.

Let us use Dragon Nest for example, since it seems you also seem to know quite a bit about this game. For the record, do note that I was one of the top physicians in the NA server in terms of both PVP and PVE until end content 70 cap, so i do hope that you don't bring any kind of "you dont know how PVP works" kind of counterargument- and yes, i can provide images and videos as proof (Don't take this in a negative tone, just making sure because I do know what I'm talking about especially when it comes to those like Dragon Nest). Take a look at this forum: http://dragonnest.nexon.net/community/f ... 6nxid%3D62 . Just skim through the first page and you'll notice that half the page is just a plain out blog or a complaint with stuff that has absolutely nothing to do with an actual PVP discussion. The reality is that even though you have the option of restricting yourself solely to PVE, you will eventually need to adapt to PVP if you don't wish to fall behind the community in terms of competition.

As for your second point, the reason they PVP has to do with several reasons. Either they started with PVP and only play PVP, or they started getting into it for the sake of not being shunned by the community for being uninformed about PVP, or they do it solely for the sake of ladder points in order to craft crests in which help them with their gearing in PVE (but apparently, the PVP-only "elitists" call it common knowledge to not accept this kind of ranking as "real PVP"). But that's not the main point here. Whether this type of PVP became more popular or not, it didn't change how active the players were. People suddenly didn't come back because they started balancing PVP before 32 cap. NOTHING changed. The argument that this thread brought up was that PVP implementation would fix the inactivity, no? From what I've seen, it barely affects whether the game is insanely active, or just completely dead.

That being said, if you really think elitism in Onigiri is as bad as you think it is, go to that forum link that I just posted and read up on any "blacklist" thread you can find. Onigiri doesn't have any elitists. It's filled with assholes, newbs, and competitive players (despite it being horribly uncompetitive), but the "elitists" in Onigiri don't even compare to those like the MMOs i've mentioned before.

Now on an non-Onigiri related note, no. There is no such thing as a "Meta" in Dragon Nest outside of PVE, and even then, it's merely a collaboration of the highest efficiency raid setup (ie: in kDN via bDN HC, first team to clear had Adept, CM/Majesty, Saint, LF, Sader, Raven, Lunar Knight/Moon Lord, and another class that I don't recall). Before bDN, IW/Elestra and Dancers were staples because of ice stacks being it's own multiplier in terms of damage, and the fact that the 100% debuff/buff cap could be easily obtained post 50 cap and how dance 2 massively increased their damage, especially in places like Golem where you're running on a clock, or when it was during GDN cap where what mattered was keeping ice stacks up for DPS sakes, and thus required a mystic+IW in most party setups, etc etc. In PVP, there's only tiers, no meta. I've seen Physicians outdo Light Furies simply because the Physician is just that much better. However, try playing a Physician versus a Majesty. A class with limited evades can do nothing against a time stop that leads into an easy 100%->0 combo. Summonless Shooting Stars can easily destroy any assassin if they put their mind to it too.

Again, people play it either because it benefits their PVE outcome in some way, or because they started with it... but it doesn't change the fact that it doesn't affect the activity of the players. All it does is bring in unreasonably amount of ego, and elitism. That's something I do not want to see this game turned into. In this game, people at least try to grind, enjoy the game, and level up with a goal in mind. Die once? Oh well, we can just try again. Add PVP into this game and it'll merely be a ragefest of people trying to show off a certain something that they want to consider "skill."

Do refer to this as well: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dunning%E2 ... ger_effect
^ Is the exact kind of thing that I want to avoid in a game like this.

which is being made obsolete by adding ANY kind of progression to the avatar characters, like i allready stated, which appearently exceeded your thoughts so far that you somehow assumed i was talking about PVE in a PVP discussion.
this might be new to you, but: in competition numbers matter. it does not matter how big those numbers are, a 1% advantage WILL ultimately matter. alot.

but of course, you, the typical person looking for pvp EVERYWHERE, so i dare say, does state something intelligent, like your "avatar" characters, which make sense, while also ridiculing his own idea by asking for his freaking treadmill because he cannot live without it. why? because you appearently never played pvp games just for the sake of playing a pvp game. what you are looking for in pvp is the same as many are looking for in pve. progression in some form or another.

RGCKain wrote:(In additional it will allow players to fight each other regardless of their normal game progression)
I really doubt you would like to get your ass shredded by level 92 while you are level 91 only cause his weapon is way more stronger than yours.(that's how it currently works.)

actually, it is NOT how it currently works, because there IS no pvp present in the games current state.
let me translate this for simplicitys sake into something i wrote in the original post so MAYBE you will be able to understand it, because not explaining it is appearently to suggestive and WILL be missunderstood.

what you say is that you assume that players (i took the liberty to widen the choice of people beyond myself) dislike being overpowered by someone that is statistically stronger then they are. you are propably correct with this assumption, but you did a huge mistake with your assumption, too. you severly underestimated the perception of people on the matter of difference in strengh. while you talk about a 1-Level-Difference, this can be a huge difference in onigiri because of the weapon-tier-system. however, at that specific lvl difference, both characters would be similarly limited in their choice of weapons (at least this was the case before the EDO-Update, i did not check available weaponry after the edo-update so this might not be accurate anymore). even though the statistical difference is minor at that point (especially with onigiris mechanics), the blame would mostly be on the level difference. it does not matter at all if the numbers actually affected the outcome, players NEVER make any mistakes. ever. (that was sarcasm, just in case you might not have been able to figure that out and thought i may have done a 180° shift in my opinion here. sarcasm is said to be easily misunderstood in written form afterall.)

RGCKain wrote:You don't seem to like the idea of "avatar" or whatever that will represent you on the arena? sure.. here's alternative way to put same shit on different plate...
You go to arena/pvp ground/your personal hole, you are stripped of all your current items/stats and so on.. which is basically the same fucking shit and in fact by your own #4 will be "unprofitable"
progression of the arena avatar is necessary, if you want to keep people interested and make the profit out it(I still don't get it why you are so clingy towards CS profits...)

i play different mobas. but i do not play league of legends. instead i play heroes of newerth, smite, heroes of the storm (alpha, but propably currently the most promising moba around, seriously, if you have the option check it out) and i remember playing a bit of dota back in the days (although not to the same degree). i also play strife, but strife is an invalid choice for this argument in a similar way to leage of legends.
now if you do not know mobas well you might not instantly spot the important factor that the mobas i play have in common which leage of legends does not offer. i will help you on that matter because it would be rude to assume that you know what i am talking about when i do not even know if you even play that kind of game at all (these few sentences have a secondary meaning directed on your posting habits. think about them.) so here is the deal:

none of these mobas offer any kind of account progression that give you any advantage later on. and guess what? they work. people looking for REAL pvp do not look for progression, they look for a leveled platform where balance is EVERYTHING. thats what pvp is, competition. not another stupid grindfest.

oh, on a side note: im clingy on possible profits for cs because i dislike having stupidly long discussions with random people that try to achieve an unrealistic goal just because they forget the most important thing to even get a slightest chance on being relevant: money.

RGCKain wrote:And the so called progression is through tiers or lets say ranking.. (played RH? same shit pvp.. just without your existing gear that makes one character imbalanced due to X factors)
(Indeed you didn't write "main character" but then you need to learn to express yourself more clearly.)

see above

RGCKain wrote:Cross-tier matches wont be obsolete, if (as I already said) slight differences are made, cross-tier matches do not have to affect players progression either, thus making cross-tier matches just "for fun"

see above

RGCKain wrote:Creating new items IS balancing.. YES, YES IT IS, THAT'S THE FUCKING POINT... instead of rushing.. read and re-read what I said... in order to avoid current broken balancing, you create new items which will be balanced properly under already existing system of values.
And instead of creating new items.. they can recycle the same items non ever bothered using.. the weapons with 100 durability, defense magatamas and other trash.

i DID read what you wrote, you suggest balancing is the easiest thing in the world when it is propably every developers horror (yes, i know, developers usually arent the guys doing the balancing). balancing is ridiculously harder when you start putting alot of different classes into a game and it becomes even more hard when you start allowing cross-classing. and the very second you allowed the use of 4 classes at the same time with a shitload of skills for each one and every stupid skill being based on an element OR MULTIPLE ELEMENTS.... i will stop this sentence at this point it should be rather obvious where it is leading.
and you want them to rebalance effortlessly by altering some unused items. great idea.

RGCKain wrote:I put enough thought in to my post, and I read what others reply very carefully, something you don't.

you are the person being unable to read posts in context to the discussion and interpret random things that are entirely unrelated to the discussion into said posts. but sure, i was unable to see the deeper thoughts of your posts. propably because there arent any that i didnt adress in the first answers.

RGCKain wrote:And sorry in advance if you are a retarded aborted child or something, but seriously everything have a huge potential on money making if you bother thinking about it for 5 seconds, I personally don't give a flying fuck.
But since you insist.. here have at it.. a list of bullshit you might one day find in Onigiri;
weapons with rainbows and unicorns poping out of them.. and other retarded effect that people love so much
magatamas
skills
more nyankoropon options
more bullshit increasing of whatever
boosts for pvp progression
Basically you can just make copy of everything that you currently can find in Shopping Plaza and remake it to PvP
So.. how exactly is this unprofitable?

it is unprofitable because you ruled out the main cashgrabs by creating an "avatar" character that gets its basic equipment to level the playing field and chosing its weapon and skillsetup. didnt you even think about what you wrote? oh wait, you wrote you did. yeah, right.

RGCKain wrote:At this point I'm not sure why I bother replying to you or why you bother with this thread to begin with...
You are against PvP in any way, shape or form from the beginning...

oh, i like pvp alot. i just dislike forcing pvp into something that does not have it when that equals funds being wasted for it that could have been used to enhance the game on areas that it is good in, like pve in this specific case.
this is especially true in a setting like this, where "good" pvp is highly unlikely.

RGCKain wrote:Unfortunately due to your lack of interest on the topic, I do not see any point to continue this discussion with you.

That said, I will not bother explaining anything nor answering any other comment you may have.

thats a good thing. this is getting ridiculous anyways.

it seems that the post opener got the priority wrong.

Developer should be focusing on
#1 -PVE content (to attract & retain players)
#2 -Reduce PVE leveling requirement (shorten time to join other players in famous hangout locations)
#3 -Map event or some feature which requires teamwork. like raid or complex attack pattern of boss (holds interest of players & duration of play)
#4 -Bug fix
#5 -Weapon/ Char type/ Skill balancing.
#6 -PVP
#7 -PVP Bug fix
#8 -PVP balance.
smallest to largest number = priority (#1 is the top)

whats fun in playing PVP when there's little to no players to fight against? or you'r trying to play PVP to 1-shot other weaker players? or enjoy waiting or searching for each player whom passes by you if they wanted to PVP with you?

for cb the stuff inside the garapons are a form of content, though. that is not the case with onigiri.

people asked for this a year ago it didnt happen, it probably wont happen they are to focused on robbing people playing the NA version of the game. It's why they made the exp gain 1/5 of the JP version so desperate people fork out cash.
