My chat with a level 55 player at Hermit Crab Grotto.

It's sad that THIS is the mentality of a huge chunk of players now days. Funny how she tried bringing my gender into the conversation.

Or if you get carried through a dungeon, and the one who does the carrying is 20 levels higher, then you don't get the EXP, like other MMOs do.

That might work. Maybe.

I would recommend you post that entire conversation, as of that one and only screen shot, you are making Avdima (not sure if that's you or someone else) look like an ass. I don't remember there being any leecher police. Telling another player what to do just because it contradicts with your own playing style is also, if not, sadder.
I'm not for leeching either but it doesn't bother me in any way, shape, or form and I can't comprehend why it bothers anyone else. Ultimately a leecher has no interference with another players game play unless the player allows the leecher to do so.
Actually I find it more entertaining watching people letting leechers bother them.

Taakun i respect what your trying to say about people making a big deal about leeching when it's not really there business. It's true it shouldn't be a big deal what other people do and how they decide to play the game, that is up to them to decide. However, I think that you (assuming you are a high level and play with other, non-leeching high levels) fail to notice what leeching is doing to specifically under 90 players and the community as a whole.

With the exception of Edo, leeching is becoming more and more integrated into dungeon grinding. You really are left with only 2 options as to how you tackle a dungeon. The first is to obviously solo the dungeon and suffer the large exp loss. The second, is to find an OP carry and blast your way to the next spot with no effort whatsoever.

With these really being the only way players operate dungeons, there is virtually no desire by players to use parties the way they are intended to be used. It is impossible to find a group of on level players that actually want to tackle a challenging dungeon as a unit, and play the game like it was meant to be played.

This effects me as an individual because I play MMO games such as this one with the expectation that I can be involved in a party and feel like I have a specific role to play. I want to rely on my party members and have them rely on me to bring about the success of a dungeon.

I do not want to spend my entire day grinding dungeons by myself, nor do I want to let someone do it for me. Unfortunately, almost all players feel pressured into doing so, and the players that do want to participate together either quit or spend all day searching for like minded people with shit results.

This is just my opinion, but I have spoken with plenty of people who share the same views. Laugh at me if you want, but I stand by how i feel about the effect of leechers and I strongly believe the game would be a much more enjoyable experience without them.

Could this be the reason you don't have a problem with them? XD

It wouldn't be a problem if not for 80% of the community being a leecher or afk in the rift this might aswell be a social game

That's not true as of now. Back then, yes, it was almost virtually impossible to level without grinding your butt off 24/7 (back when Kaga/Kyoto was still the latest town). However, they made so many adjustments and made it hilariously easy to level and ease your way into the game to the point that you can actually hold your own weight, given that you put effort into the game. I made a character from scratch again because of the benefits you can get from making another character to level 100, and in a matter of hours, I was able to reach level 2x just by following the storyline. Before they made it easier, you'd have to do hours and days of grinding at byakkou just so you can even break that level 20 limit. The devs have changed exp rates so that you can keep up with the dungeon level without the need to be carried. Do note that grinding is required in almost any kind of MMO as well. If this amount of grinding is already demoralizing you or others, they need to understand that MMO requires you to grind if you wish to become someone who can carry others and/or hold their own weight. Too many people expect to become strong and not put any effort at all.

Thing is, you need to understand that there's a big difference between someone who supports in a party and someone who leeches. A person who supports and relies on others properly keeps up their support buffs and heals and follows the party around and in fact EASES the load on the carry significantly. A leecher is literally someone who has little to no value in the run (either they just sit at the entrance, or follow you around doing absolutely nothing). Now if there were more people promoting the former, the game would be in a much better shape. However, the reality is that people do nothing and get rewarded for it. To make matters worse, they think they have some unspoken privilege that they deserve to be leeched.

My point is that despite how grindy the game may seem, it's not as hard as you make it look. Everyone can progress through the storyline and/or do what they need to do perfectly fine without the need of a carry, powerlevelling them through half the content. The game has been made significantly easier from levels 1 to 100. The main problem is that people are assuming that having higher levels translate to becoming carries. Being able to carry, and being unable to carry is the "competitive" part of this game if any. And that's why they leech, hoping that some day despite putting 0 effort, they can magically do damage. It just doesn't work that way, and because they fail to actually grind the game, they end up becoming leechers who just complain about the community 24/7. That's kinda the reality of this game atm.
