It's possible to go as wand/staff user actually.
Pros:
+ You can actually be useful to your party before like 100 lvl. And if building right - even after that, at some deegree.
+ Solo game is not that hard. You always can just attack with staves if you're low on sp. With Wis's SP Reduction staff skills cost nothing. Pure wand users pretty much can't do anything, if they ran out of sp, besides running and drinking potions. You can still attack, regaining some sp. And naturally you will have 100+ MND, that gives you awesome SP regeneration. And don't forget about Meditation.
+ You can leech. From my expirience people still want staff user in party. So you're always welcome.
+ It's possible to go without Chiami. Extented heal do the job.
+ Viability. Depending on party you can always switch to DPS mags or Support mags. Usual 4x Magic setup still allows you to save the day if things go bad though.
+ It's fun to play.
Cons:
- You need a LOT of OC. And farming. And patience. At high levels attaining even 4 good swords is pain in ass for example. With this build you need around 8 weps: 4 staves and 4 wands. Going with 2 wands/2staves is an option, but you lose viability. Same goes for mags. And Ressurection ofc.
- You'll never be as good as pure wand or pure staff probably. Reason is stats. Pure wand will go full WIS/DEX, rest in MND. And pure staff will go MND/DEX rest in WIS. We are going WIS/MND rest DEX here.
- 4x Magic mag. Getting 4 with right ornamentations is hard as hell.
- Low surviveability. You're still glass canon/healer.
- Hard to pull until 90~. Best way would be to still choose one single wep until then.
- Taishi title is must have. And it's always full - 55/55.
Going hybrid is always hardcore in this game. But fun.
