Normal Characters
The friends you meet on your journey across Japan. They join your party as you progress through the main quest.
Divine Possession Characters
Gods that manifested due to the main character’s mysterious powers of “Divine Possession”. They join your party through the obtainment of the item “Seer’s Verse”. If you perform Divine Possession when one of the designated normal partner is summoned then you and your partner will disappear for a designated amount of time and the Divine Possession Character will be summoned.
Vanguard Swap Characters
These partners join you in your adventures and you can switch places with them while in battle. They can be obtained through the use of the item “Summoner's Scroll”. If you execute vanguard swap while they are out you will be able to play as them for a set amount of time.
Youkai Characters
These are creatures known as “Youkai”, summoned by the one and only “Ashiya Douman” in Onigashima. Give Douman a “Summoning Card” and you will be able to obtain your very own Youkai.
Mount Characters
The friends you can fight with and ride with your Oni character in battle. They join your party as you collect and use the “Manifestation Scrolls”. You can ride them and use their abilities until their respective stamina gauges are depleted.
Support Characters
These friends will play as your backup in all your fights. They can be obtained through the use of the item “Covenant Scroll”. You can change their gear, have them cast buffs and debuffs, and even use their special AI system to have them fight automatically.

A hundred years ago, legend of a divine Onmyoji was common.
Famed for hers skills which surpassed human ken, she was rumored to have played an active role in the battle against the Kamikui. Supposed to have died at a young age to illness, she actually transferred hers soul into a yorishiro to gain a psuedo-immortality, after which she retreated to Kyoto to continue watching the world. She's known to go into long periods of rest, leaving hers shikigami in charge, which explains why she often looks sleepy.
Hers shikigami was previously being controlled from afar, but circumstances have forced it to reveal itself as a yorishiro.
Seimei has known Ashiya Douman for 10 years, after Douman broke through a barrier that she placed to keep humans away from a dangerous youkai she was attempting to subdue. Douman declared him a rival after. Seimei also was an acquaintance of Izuna's mother and Ajou and Unjou.
People mistakenly think that fried tofu is hers favorite food and end up offering too much.

Continuing her training as a miko in a human village, Izuna's grown another tail.
Her mother's power continues to bloom within Izuna, helping her become one of the best, and busiest, shrine maidens in Kyoto, spending each day receiving requests for prayers, exorcisms, and even exterminations. She's trying hard to act mature to protect the reputation of her shrine, but she might be pushing herself a bit too far. She is comforted by her friends, who give her the chance to be genuine.
While becoming more graceful, some of her usual clumsiness remains.
Her shikigami were given to her by Ajou and Unjou when she grew her three tails, and she named them Kata and Shiro, taking lessons in Shikigami from Abe no Seimei. After empowering the shikigami with the powers of her two new tails, she changed their names–the purple one is called Ukon, and the green one, Sakon.
Izuna's cooking skills have improved, and she now makes many creative dishes using her favorite agedofu, such as Abura-age Oyako Stew.

A replica of the orca-styled float ring that Sesshu uses when she's playing in the ocean.
A bit of a traveler, this orca has been on many travels with Sesshu.
It's also had a rough life, getting bitten by sharks, stung by jellyfish, and even swarmed by mosquitos when used as a pillow in the forest.
But Sesshu does not want to quit traveling, as there are so many things left for her to see in the world.
So Orca Float won't stop travelling either.

A cheerful girl who loves nature, she is also captivated by ink paintings, even going so far as to join a temple to study under painting masters. She neglects her sacred training in order to travel around the world painting pictures of landscapes. Her mentor can only shake his head while admiring her art.
Her brush, Bokuju, is taller than she is, was made from a mysterious tree that once grew in the mountains. Sesshu enjoyed painting beneath the tree when it was alive, but after lightning destroyed it, she decided to honor it by having it made into a paintbrush. The craftsman that made the brush mentioned that the tree was somehow laced with a rare metal. It seems this mysterious material makes the brush manifest the wishes of its wielder.
The pet rat that rides on Sesshu's head is named Bokujuu as well, as it was the first of her drawings to be embodied by the tree of which her brush is made. Even she does not know what is within her pet's zippered back.
Her tastes are rather humble for her age, and her favorites include senbei and ochazuke.

A swordsman born into the Yagyu family who traditionally served as a swordplay instructors for the shogunate, she instead travels around the world training to master the Yagyu Tsukikage style.
She's obsessed with the thought of a blade that can save lives, the Rebirth Blade, and seeks it in her travels.
Very strict with her swordplay, she's easily interpreted as being cold, but when she speaks it is obvious she demands much of herself and is honest with others.
Lady Shizuka had met her in Edo castle in her youth, but reports Jubei as being very different now from what she seemed before.
Her sword is named Gekkamukyu Kaneuji, and is rumored to have been found in Edo forest as well as being related to her cause for leaving the castle. It seems that her right eye is naturally dark, and she seems surprised to meet anyone that recognizes her from before her travels.
Additionally, though she endeavors to hide it, she often follows Ibaraki's tokkuri with her eyes.

Kenshin Uesugi, known as the Dragon of Echigo, tainted from her pure whites by despair and exhaustion, now shows robes of a darker hue and an unkempt, disheveled appearance. Her weary mind now moves on destructibve impulse, hurting those around her indiscriminately.
Despite this her consciousness remains intact, and she can show glimmers of her former self at times.
The spider lily that she wears on her head seems significant to her in her grief, but why is unknown.
She generally appears indifferent to the presence of spider lilies, but a retainer to her house claims Kenshin once saw her hero Shingen in his prime on a hill covered in the flowers.
Whether she remembers this or not is uncertain, but she is known to choose paths covered in these lilies when she walks outside.
It seems she still has a taste for alcohol, and while she's known to overindulge it does calm her moods however briefly.

A young warlord serving the Oda family who weilds a double-bladed scythe with ease.
A dangerous person who enjoys making other people break down, Mitsuhide serves Oda Nobunaga because she wants to destroy her with her own hands, Supposedly Nobunaga once told her that [You can do what you please with the world only after you rule it.]
At first glance her actions are difficult to understand, but she seems motivated by some aesthetic of destruction. Her intelligence is evident in her calculating battlefield decisions, but she won't destroy everything and never something that she doesn't first deem worth destroying.
Despite her strange and peculiar manner, it seems Nobunaga has no trouble making sense of her, as the Oda family seems to have a number off quirky warlords amongst their ranks.
Surprisingly, her favorite food is the sticky rice dumpling chimaki. On the days it's being served, she's known to haunt the kitchens, scaring the cooks.

An Oni woman who runs a rare shop called the Nagare Izakaya.
She befriended the main character while on a shopping run in Kumaso.
It seems she had become acquainted with Shizuka in the past when she rescued the lost princess, and their friendhsip continues even now.
She learned the ways of the pickpockets who picked her up as a child in Kyoto, but she never shows that side in daily life.
Still, some part of that remained in the corner of her heart, and her specially-made new attire allows her to show off her whole spirit.
With the aid of her newfound clothing and confidence, perhaps she'll even be able to turn around the trauma she received being raised with Shuten-Douji to grow into a reliable lady.
The outift may be new, but her manner is unchanged, and she's just as deep in her cups as before. She's even been known to drink the sake while importing it.
She thinks that drinking is fun, but secretly harbors a worry that she's never been able to outdrink Kaguya.

A conscripted model of Genkei that Tokugawa Ieyasu ordered Gennai to outfit to accomodate the mining of saltpeter.
Saltpeter is not native to the area, however, and operations were halted.
Even if it's not for mining, Gennai insists that this model is perfect for other tasks, like civil engineering, farming, and construction.Uninhabited islands are a great place to test new land engineering!
Enough reform can make them into pleasant places to live, and many general-purpose Genkei labor at that task to this day.

The head of the Tokugawa clan from Mikawa Province.
Boundlessly confident in both heart and action, but still possessed of a sensitive side that loves and cries, Ieyasu is loved by her vassals, of which Tadakatsu is a member. Keenly aware of her inadequacies, she works exceptionally hard, making her an exemplary leader and general.
Her weapon, the Namazu Mk.4, is a specially-made magic armament which she lovingly refers to as "Zu-chan." She manipulates it with the ease to devastate the battlefield.
The prototype weapon was caught in a fisherman's net off the coast of Mikawa Bay and resembled a parade float with a gun turret. Ieyasu liked it at first sight and promptly named it Namazugou, but soon outgrew the weapon, claiming that the lord needed a bigger weapon. Her vassals improved upon it, converting it to its current state.
She secretly harbors a great affection for Oda Nobunaga, who she has met many times in her youth, but has been unable to be honest about her sentiments

A wanderer who has travelled to and fro seeking to slay evil throughout the world and gain the title of Kenki, Demon Sword.
Considered dynamic at best and boorish at worst, he's constantly active, and while he knows he's not the brightest, it doesn't slow him down in his hunt for Youkai and the title of Kenki. Despite this, he has a caring and brotherly personality, making him loved by those he knows. It must be noted that although he's Japanese, no one believes him when he says it.
Orphaned as a child, he was picked up and trained by an old swordmaster, and he sometimes uses foreign words he learned from the books there. He chooses his words with sentiment and feeling over comprehension, which can make conversation with him impossible. He learned about the gods through the same books, so his values and beliefs are unique. He also believes he's the strongest in the world.
He loves sushi and sake, and though he won't admit it, he hates ghosts.

A peerless general serving the Tokugawa family, rumored to be untouchable.
Calm and almost ruthlessly efficient, Tadakatsu cuts down anyone who dares to oppose her sworn liege, Tokugawa Ieyasu.
Especially noteworthy are her jet black shield and spear. The Tonbokiri spear was specially made made by Ieyasu as an anti-youkai weapon, and it was rumored to be crafted from an ancient metal excavated from a burial site. It was so powerful at its creation that other army warlords, strong and capable, could not contain its power, and they shied away from its use.
However, Ieyasu happened to be traveling through Mikasa when he found Tadakatsu battling a Kamikui alone.
Ieyasu granted Tadakatsu the Tonbokiri and Tadakatsu, bereaved of her home by the Kamikui, exceeded all expectation in its use.
Only in a battle for life or death does Tadakatsu's face ever break a smile. It is rumored that she hunts for strong opponents, frequently asking Sasuke for the location of the young tiger, Sanada Yukimura.

The princess of the Kagura Shogunate of a mysterious alternate Japan.
As a result of the harsh discipline and education she received as a child, she ran away some time ago. It was only after arriving in Onigashima that she met and befriended the player character.
Lady Tomoe, Shizuka's mother and wife of the Shogun, was said to have received the enchanted bow from the fabled Masako, considered one of the pillars of the Four Gods of old, and now she passes along that battle dress to her daughter.
Her new outfit differs greatly from what Shizuka is accustomed to wearing, as it's tailored for the battlefield--but her important hair ornaments remain unchanged.
Saving Edo castle helped Lady Shizuka bloom into a responsible young lady with a mind for her duty, and she carries her arrows with her as a proof of her resolve to help better the world.
Some things remain unchanged, however, as she still eats well--perhaps even moreso now that she needs the physical strength to wield the enchanted bow gracefully.

Though she is unaware of both her name and her station, she somehow managed to outfit herself in the gaudiest accoutrements available. She's extremely shy, introverted, and low in self esteem, and rather than facing any censure from others, she's much more inclined to hide in the shadows and avoid meeting anyone's gaze. Even if she isn't good at talking to others, she's trying hard to adapt to this world. Her habit is to apologize frequently. She loves to read books and to play with animals. Although she frequently finds and talks kindly to cats and sparrows, they can sense her powers as a Kamikui and they rarely get close. Shiso is her favorite food.

No one knows where the name surfboard came from, precisely, but with one in hand anyone can become a legend upon the open seas!

The demon mask she wears is proof of her status as a Fuma Ninja, but her casual demeanor is at odds with the stern appearance of the mask.
She doesn't report having any favorite foods, saying instead that hunger makes forthe best seasoning.
Due to her easy-going attitude, people tend to assume that she has no ambitions of her own and merely goes where the wind takes her.
However, as a ninja for hire, she excels in being flexible with her life and her attitude, which merely makes her seem mercurial.
Additionally, she is a hard worker by nature, and it can be assumed that her ethic and confidence are a result of her grueling training.
Knowing her skill, the fact her mask bears a broken horn is proof that there is another ninja of equal talent...

Lucifer is said to be a more complete form of Satan, as Satan was born solely from the monstrous manifestation of Lucifer's powers.
Mankind once believed in an all-powerful God who would lead the penitent to salvation and punish the sinful with an eternity of torment. Bright and beautiful, Lucifer was seen as an intermediary to whom men could pray for lenience, and she took great pride in this position of reverence...perhaps too much.
She was renowned as the benevolent Bringer of Light prior to her descent as Satan, a shade consumed by its hatred of God and mankind due to a memory comprised only of war between angels and demons.
Lucifer has manifested in human form as a caring but pushy older sister who wishes to be adored as the mother of mankind. Her specialty is cooking sweet omelets. She'll nag you to brush your teeth and take a bath sometimes, but it's only out of love.
She treasures Satan as a misguided little sister.

Her duties as a maid and her origins as an Android no longer seem to bother her. Her personality seems to have developed along with her confidence in her new form.
Now that her wings contain upgraded thermoregulation and an auxillary processor, MK-99 now boasts greatly improved combat capabilities.
Her old wings were incorporated into her new primary armament, the Lunar Cannon.
To her great pleasure, the cannon's magazine also features a bunny accessory to match Riku's theme.

As her original model had been fairly outdated for some time, her processing abilities tend to suffer in certain situations compared to newer models like MK-99.
Gennai intentionally kept MK-6's expression range lowered due to Kaguya's strong wishes that the android's original identity be preserved.
Even still, MK-6 behavioral patterns seem to reflect her newfound confidence.
Now that her wings contain upgraded thermoregulation and an auxillary processor, MK-6 now boasts greatly improved combat capabilities.
Her old wings were incorporated into her new primary armament, the Lunar Sword.
To her great pleasure, the sword's sheath also features a bunny accessory to match Tsukumo's theme.

Sometimes a ruthless Youkai-hunting Onmyoji, at others, a writer with a cult following.
From a young age, her prowess with the mystical arts was such that there was no need for her to hunt Youkai herself.
Her Shikigami's brutish strength proved more than enough of a match for most middling Youkai.
Despite her almost miraculous abilities, Murasaki's interests lay wholly with her writing.
Were it not for her want of extra spending cash to support her hobbies,it's doubtful that she'd ever use her abilities at all.
Since her debut novel, The Tale of Genji, took the literary world by storm,she's come to stand out not only for her writing,but her sometimes scathing reviews of other writer's works.
Her passion for writing is such that she sometimes has difficulty containing her excitement.
Her newfound friendship with Kaguya pleases her greatly,as they share many of the same hobbies.

His love for training is unmatched, and he has a tendency to drag other people into it also, and loudly.
Naturally, he's come to have a reputation for that loudness.
However, he has a good heart, so many also look upon him as a kind of older brother figure.

An Elder Youkai renowned as a wanderer.
Keiji found herself lost in the Kaga forests several hundred years ago and was taken in by Toshiie on a walk. After their fateful meeting, Keiji gained her name and entered the Maeda family. Her memories predating her joining the Maeda family are vague, but she doesn't seem to mind.
Keiji eventually left Kaga, receiving the Metsujinki, a sealed set of armor that she managed to awaken. To operate the armor more efficiently with her small stature, Keiji made a number of changes to her own body. With her modifications, the armor became the Metsujinki Koga.
Sealing the armor within herself, she traveled the lands, saving many people along the way. Rumors of a giant warrior named Maeda Keiji spread quickly.
Before her departure, Keiji was also known or her insightfulness and resourcefulness. Many a scholar and tactician were seen trying to convince her to study under them.

A youkai exterminator specialist who is backed by the imperial family. She is also known as the leader of the four devas. She exudes a strong energy that covers everything around her with light. She is also very sensitive to youkai energy and can sense them easily. This causes some of the weaker youkai to just run away when they sense her presence.
While she may be serious about her work as a youkai exterminator and protector of the royal family, she often neglects to take care of herself. Kintoki is the one who is often found cooking for Yorimitsu. This has led Yorimitsu to often call Kintoki her ‘wife’.
Back in the day she would often wear regular clothes; she was scolded by a fellow peer telling her that if she is going to be a leader, she needs to wear the proper attire. It was Kintoki that provided her with gorgeous armor and of course it’s Kintoki who helps her put it on and take it off. She is kind of hopeless without Kintoki by her side. When Kintoki is not around she just leaves her armor on and sleeps in it.
It’s not just her personal life where she gets kind of sloppy. While on the battlefield she uses her beloved sword ‘Doujikiri’ without paying much attention to its blade’s condition. Because of this she had it designed so that she can easily replace the blade... as she often breaks it.

She loves all things fashionable. Yoshitsune is always scolding her for not wearing enough clothing but Ibaraki brushes it off with smug face, always telling Yoshitsune “My sexy curves are the most fashionable thing there is.”
She is good friends with Lady Shizuka and Yoshitsune. Ibaraki helped Lady Shizuka and ever since then she was granted entrance to her castle. While often scolded by Yoshitsune, Ibaraki really looks up to her for her unwavering beliefs and strength. She also seems to have hit it off with Kaguya and can often be seen partaking in all her hijinks and monologue tangents.
Due to a certain issue with her old swimsuit she decided that she would wear a new one. She said that she picked this one because of the amazing color and beautiful design.

One of the Four Symbols in Chinese astrology. Her powers are said to rival those of Houou and Kirin. She takes the shape of a young girl riding atop a tortoise. The girl and turtle are actually dead, Genbu used his magic to embalm them and prevent rotting of the corpses.
Only a handful of the gods have seen Genbu in his true form due to her always changing bodies.She used to be a kind god who would guide the lost, however mysterious circumstances have left her in a state where is hopping from body to body.
Genbu can move freely between the netherworld and the human world and control all the dead. If one sees her talking to nobody in particular she may actually be talking to the dead. Genbu loves the dead because they don’t lie, or well at least not to her.
Genbu is straightforward and shows no interest in the living, so much so that his mythical beast friend Byakko often scolds her for not showing concern.His current body is already over 150 years old and is starting to show signs of wear.

A great Youkai of the first general of Kaga who married Matsu. After Matsu’s death, the general receded from their seat and decided to wander the world.
In the form of Toshiie, she came to Onigashima where the summer festival was being held. However, The string that served as Matsu’s momento and sealed her Youkai power has come undone so a powerful Youkai form of Inuchiyo has been unleashed! In order to be rescued, our heroes met with a mysterious turtle on a small island in the coastal waters of Onigashima.
Because the turtle’s note has the ability to hold back Youkai powers, she is able to go near humans but her left hand with the note emits a sinister energy. This does not necessarily cause pain, but it will cause a state that resembles a high fever.
Though the situation seems doubtful, and the chance to return to her human form seems unlikely, behind her rough edges her true feelings seem to be happy ones. Unexpectedly, Sasuke and Ono no Komachi also lend their assertive voices in this matter.
She dislikes having fur in the summer because it’s quite hot, but long ago, Matsu would comb her fur after she went swimming, so she can’t bring herself to hate it.

A solo singer idol who is on an adventure to obtain the highest title of entertainer.
Under the influence of her mother she began as a traditional Japanese song artist, but she was deeply moved by the concert of Ariwara no Narihira, so much so that she decided she wanted to become an idol. With a new passion she quit traditional Japanese music, nevertheless she still recites classical Japanese poems in secret.
She has had live performances on the streets of Kyoto, but nobody ever stopped and listened to her, and she’s only been able to sell one record... to her grandpa Ono no Takamura. In an attempt to spread her name she has embarked on what she likes to call a “Street Concert Live Tour”. The first person to compliment her singing was her manager (MC), and ever since then she has declared the MC her first fan. Her grandfather being number zero.
She is still a little embarrassed when it comes to writing about romance, so much that she often crumbles up her lyric sheets. Her favorite foods include her grandfather’s rice crackers and her mother’s nikujaga.

A charismatic Youkai exterminator, she is one of the Four Devas that Sadamitsu Usui leads.
Though it’s a bit unexpected that she’s teamed up with the upcoming idol Ono no Komachi and decided to form an idol unit, she looks brilliant in the idol clothes she’s chosen! In fact, they are so cute she seems to be amazed with the way they flutter.
Although she feels they do not fit her role of a Youkai exterminator, she has pushed her embarrassment aside because that kind of behavior is unfit for an idol!
Though at one time Kintoki was accustomed to occasionally ripping her clothing when she fought during sumo matches, Komachi has strictly warned Kintoki not to do this.
Komachi has given her the stage name of ‘’Tokkii’’, but she has not yet grown used to it, so at times she will not respond.
There are times when she cooks up a storm for her friends and treats them to delicious meals. Komachi took a picture of her cooking and has been humorously talking nonstop about about this wonderful trait of Tokkii.

Enjoying traditional games like badminton and pin the tail on the donkey, she has also found pounding mochi to be good exercise so she has mass produced many rice cakes for everyone to enjoy! Hearing that apparently other regions mix natto with their mochi, she tried it out and really came to like it.
As it is unusual for her to celebrate the new year this gallantly, she dragged Tristan and Lancelot into doing various seasonal things with her. Furthermore, when she pulled her New Year’s fortune she drew a fortune with “uncertain luck” but she didn’t seem to mind in the slightest.
Going crazy over a mysterious creature she met on New Year’s, people around her ask “You think THAT’S cute?”. However, she does not care about anyone else’s opinions. With a resolve to raise this pet as if it were her own child, she plans to protect it with her life.

She came to make her round of new year’s greetings however she is actually running all over the place with the supposed advent of a “War God” on the horizon.
She spent her new year’s holidays practicing calligraphy and while she may be really gifted she holds herself to very high standards. She puts all her effort into whatever she does she was even adamant about wearing her furisode during the new year’s badminton event.
During the new year’s holidays she can be found drinking to no end. Despite getting really drunk, she never loses consciousness. She also pulled a good fortune this year!

A great Youkai of the first general of Kaga who married Matsu.
After Matsu’s death, the general receded from their seat and decided to wander the world.
With a philanthropism of loving all living things, her favorite saying is: “We are all brothers and sisters.”
With her cheerful and lively personality, she carries the belief that she can make friends with anyone no matter where she goes.
Cute girls long to be close to her because of her soft fur.
However, she took on the form of “Maeda Toshiie” in order to become closer with people. It seems she originated from a ruthless youkai that likes brutality. When Toshiie met Matsu and fell in love, her personality started to change. Together, they ruled Kaga as a unified couple of human and Youkai. The Youkai name of “Inuchiyo” was given to her by Matsu. Though they were the perfect match, they could not withstand the difference in lifespan of human and Youkai, so Matsu began the journey ahead into the afterlife. As Inuchiyo was struck with grief, Matsu, who was on the verge of death, ordered her to go and see the world for her sake. Under those circumstances, it is the appearance of the current Toshiie who imitated Matsu's tone of voice and and appearance as a way to travel. When she was acting as a feudal lord, she took on a more quiet and composed appearance.
The decorative string used to hold the sash of Matsu’s kimono is a momento used to seal her youkai powers. If the seal is loosened, then Inuchiyo’s form will come out.

The swordsman who has walked this earth with Yamato no Kuni no Kunimune a sword known to be called the weapon of gods and demons.
...Is now a kid? With her Yamato no Kuni no Kunimune in hand, this young one seems to have lost part of her memory.
Even as a young girl Musashi has always loved playing with swords, however at this age her dad would still not let her hold a real blade, so she would always be running around with a wooden sword. She would spend her free time training and thanks to that she would always be ahead of the class. She would even take on adults, however she would sometimes end up regretting it and cry herself to sleep.
Even at this age she can be found oversleeping, sometimes she gets teary over having overslept. She also loves to draw, however she is trying to improve. Even her drawings of people still look like little caterpillars.
Only Yamato no Kuni no Kunimune knows what is it in Musashi that makes her pure and ambitious on her journeys to become the strongest.

A merchant by trade, Miroku can chat up a storm with his carefree attitude and travels the lands of Japan selling his wares. Bestowed with the gift of the gab, he seems to have at least one buddy everywhere he goes.
Despite his 'time is money' attitude he acts as the older brother to the group by acting as a peacekeeper and taking charge of conversation. Miroku takes care of his good friend Momotarou, who is quite the big eater, which leaves his wallet empty at times. Nevertheless he seems to enjoy taking good care of his pals.
He is quite crafty and has a way with words but somehow his words evoke of self-derision. Yoshitsune had him background checked several times when entering the shogunate, and could not trace any of his family history past his immediate family. Yet he has access to books and imported goods, and has become the favorite of Lady Shizuka and her mother, Masako.
He is wearing the outfit that Kaguya designed. He likes the outfit however his inner merchant can’t help but be bothered by just how much the outfit depreciates if he were to get it dirty.

The Princess of the Shogunate, Shizuka was raised in a very strict environment and eventually fled her home for adventure. She found her way to Onigashima and hit it off with our main protagonist.
She is generally very polite but can be quite stubborn and selfish at times, which can become quite obvious when she is around her childhood friend, Yoshitsune. However after leaving home and experiencing all the world has to offer she has developed some thick skin.
She is very good at dancing and can be seen performing at various festivals. She has successfully conjured rain before, and Yoshitsune can be heard boasting about it. She possesses a power known as the “Mind’s Eye” and is able to see things people normally cannot see. Only a select few back in the Edo Castle know of this power.
This time she is adorning a beautiful maid outfit thought up by Kaguya. Despite Yoshitsune’s worries, Shizuka is enjoying the maid outfit to its fullest.

About 90 years ago, there was a famous swordsman who battled Miyamoto Musashi in Ganryujima… this is the 4th generation from that line of swordsmen.
She has undertaken gruelling training to take her fencing techniques to the next level and kill Miyamoto Musashi. She certainly spilled some blood to get her new power, but fueled by her fixation on putting an end to Musashi's life, Kojirou didn’t think much of the arduous training regime.
After some digging around she found the perfect dress for slaying Musashi and swears this is her lucky dress. She also found her precious blade the "Bizen Nagamitsu" in storage! This weapon has been endowed with a soul of its own and has become self-aware. This is the beloved blade of the first generation Kojiro, it has exchanged blows with Musashi’s "Yamoto no Kuni no Kunimune", and has had some unparalleled encounters with the blade.
Nagamitsu is capable of speaking and can be heard nagging at Kojiro. In turn Kojiro just continues on with what looks like mindless soliloquy. Kojiro pays no mind to what others think of her.

A loyal commander of Nobunaga Oda's, she is known as "The Demon Shibata". She leads the well recognised 'Special Attack Force' of Nobunaga's army. She is very straight-laced and often voices her belief in strength above all. But it seems she is more soft-hearted than she would like to let on.
She often clashes with the light-hearted and flippant Hideyoshi which almost always throws the surroundings into a similar state of chaos. However, there is a rumor she dealt with an underling spreading gossip about Hideyoshi with extreme prejudice. Perhaps there is more to her than meets the eye?
Rather than fawn over Nobunaga's every whim as Hideyoshi does, Katsuie will protest when she believes something to be wrong. It seems that Nobunaga also values this aspect of Katsuie’s personality.
Katsuie has long been a loyal supporter of the Oda family. However, when the family head passed the reigns of power to Nobunaga, Katsuie took part in the rebellion against her. After defeat, she came to respect Nobunaga and swore her loyalty.
She’s never told anyone, but she is secretly a little jealous of all the cute candy that Hideyoshi is always eating.

The book she's been reading is the legend of King Arthur. She usually reads the book with great delight but it seems this book doesn't always portray Arthur in a positive light. She's been witnessed throwing the book to the ground in frustration.
When they celebrate Halloween in Britain it seems that while Gawain gives out candy, Tristan receives mountains of it without even asking! King Arthur however maintains a vigil to ward off vengeful spirits.
Lancelot has some skills in the kitchen so in preparation of meeting King Arthur she has been researching Japanese cuisine.

She does not want to use her favorite gun around the salty sea air so she left it back home. Instead she bought a water gun from the summer festival grounds. Even in a one-piece, this girl is not afraid to dish out those acrobatic gunslinging moves of hers. Shibata Katsuie warned her to wear some undies.
She came to the festival to get some Onigashimelons, but she actually really just likes festivals. Even in the festivals held back home, she mixes in and dances among the peasants; she even climbs the portable shrines and starts doing festival dances. She forces Hideyoshi to buy her various sweets. Her favorite shaved ice flavor is strawberry.

Although created tens of generations apart, her appearance is a spitting image of Six and she looks up to her as a sister. She is the last cutting-edge android made by Sakaki, her emotions and movements are parallel to those of the citizens of the moon and humans.
Since regaining her emotions she works hard as the little sister who takes care of her older sister, despite this grown-up trait she can be somewhat meddlesome, often getting involved in other people’s business.
Lately she has also been showing signs of a conflict that sometimes arises within her--a conflict born from the clash of her feelings and the fact that she is an android maid from the moon.

An android girl made by Sakaki the Creator, Kaguya’s father. Her model number is "MK-VI", however those who are close to her call her "Six".
She is the first of the androids to have a fully-functional circuitry for emotions, and it would be no stretch to say that she could be considered the mother of all the androids born on the moon.
Because she was one of Sakaki’s first inventions when he just begun to work as a researcher at the Palace of Rain, he had her work for him at his home as his property. She is said to have also taken care of Kaguya during her childhood.
However when Kaguya and her father each left for Earth on their own, and Kaguya’s mother Oboro decided to go to the Palace of Rain, Six was put away into a warehouse that had no power.
After the incident with Lunar Spirit Kaguya-Hime, Oboro returned home and restarted Six to have her take care of the house.

Known as the knight of the sun, this knight lives up to her name with her genuine strength and her reinvigorating personality. She has that elderly sister vibe amongst all of her bright Round Table sisters, however she can be quite blunt at times and just outright says whatever passes through her mind. Nevertheless, no one hates her for it. She is not one to show her worries or let things get to her, but even her bright personality wanes and her more composed side shows at times.
Gawain is best friends with Lancelot. When Gawain went on a rampage against King Arthur, Lancelot was the only person able to stop her. However when Gawain loses it, which rarely happens, it is said that nobody, not even Lancelot, can stop her. She is also good friends with Tristan, but everytime she hears Tristan’s musical numbers she falls asleep, and often Tristan ends up leaving her behind.
Since coming to Japan she has become quite the natto fanatic despite being taken aback by its smell when she first encountered it.

The second girl with the powers of the Gargoyles to be summoned by Ashiya Douman. She has no recollection of her memories as a gargoyle, but is aware of the "Kamikui" strength that lies within her body.
Douman intended on summoning a Yokai, however due to a careless mistake (he mixed some magical notes in by accident) he ended up summoning Parvus. Although, he swears that it was Gargoyle's sneezes that caused Parvus' appearance to come out akin to that of Gargoyle's.
Parvus Gargoyle is energetic, bright, and looks up to Gargoyle as her big sister. She's also very curious about humans and wants to learn as much as possible about them.
Her favorite food is udon, however lately she's been getting into ramen too.

Arriving to Onigashima as the overseer of the 3 sisters Asuka, Chihiro, and Matoi, his true purpose is resources investigation. However, on this way to Onigashima, he encountered some trouble with his control unit and made an emergency landing in Kyoto.
Although at a loss as toward what he should do, it seems he regained his spirit sightseeing on the way to Onigashima by foot. His personality is bright and cheerful (but maybe a little too honest), however every second word out of his mouth is 'Tae' so Matoi is always telling him to shut up. Matoi calls him 'Old Fart' but if his run time was calculated in human years, it would exceed 300.

She heard of Matoi's plans and Asuka's agreement to tag along, and immediately thought that if she leaves her two sisters alone they will surely end up in trouble.
While Chihiro can be easily overshadowed by the big personalities of her masochistic older sister and her overbearing younger sister, she is the most put-together of the lot. While generally a diligent person, she can sometimes be a bit pessimistic.
Since coming to Onigashima she has grown to like the Kijimuna for cheering her up. However she couldn't bear the thought of separating them from their homeland so she decided to take as many pictures as she can while in Onigashima; she'll just look at them every time she becomes tired from all of Matoi's antics back home.

A michievious oni (Amanojaku) child who loves pranks and hides himself in Kyoto.
He is, by nature, contradictory. He'll often say the opposite of what he is thinking and play pranks on anyone he can find. In fact after tagging the Yellow Dragon Spire and causing a city wide blackout he was chased out of town.
He hides his true personality behind his pranks but he is, at heart, a good character. For example, despite being an Amanojaku he is an awful liar and will often inadvertently show his caring side (and then panic when he does).
His origins are a mystery. He has no memory of his parents or his own name - and had no friends to give him one. He acted like he didn't care, but he was happy to have one given to him by Izuna.
He chooses his clothes based on what he saw and liked on the citizens of Kyoto, so he just wears what he likes the look of without thinking too hard about if the clothes are for boys or girls.
The reason his mace suddenly becomes light and easy to swing is a secret known only to him.

For some reason Sanzou, who made a journey across the Tang Dynasty of China along with the other disciples Goku, Cho Hakkai, and Sa Gojou, has made her way to Japan.
Having the worst sense of direction, there have been many a time when she became lost when traveling with her companions.
She's a broadminded and wise monk whose personality has yet to receive any complaints... There just seems to be something flaky about her, and she somehow ends up being taken care of by her companions. She leaves the battles to the vigorous Goku, asks Gojou for navigation, and feasts upon the cookings of Hakkai.
She may sound useless, but the fact that those three haven't left her sight must mean there must be something good about her.
Also she has horrible eyesight, so she wears some pretty thick glasses. She's always falling and breaking them. You can usually find her crying as she pulls out one of her many spares.

She considers the defeat of Musashi her reason for living, and thinks about little else besides Musashi and swordsmanship.

From the country of Echigo and clad in robes as white as the snow is the head of the Uesugi Clan, the “Dragon of Echigo”.

She seems to have looked up to Takeda Shingen, who made attempts to gain supremacy over the nation, when she was a child. Inspired by him, she polished her martial arts techniques and threw herself into her studies. Thanks to that she became a full-fledged leader of the Uesugi Clan, and by then Shingen had already given up on his plans.
Disappointed that Shingen had lost his passion, she tried to cheer him up by taking part in the Kawanakajima battle, seeing her once beloved hero place emphasis on defensive tactics, she grew even more disappointed in how he changed.
Since then she has bottled up her disappointment, and finds herself clashing with Shingen at every chance encounter.
As the head of the Clan she is a stickler for formalities, and is depended on by her subordinates. She is a natural prodigy when it comes to the battlefield, yet she is not aware that even Shingen has acknowledged her prowess as worthy.
She likes to read the Tale of the Genji and play the lute. She also loves to drink.

From the country of Kai, covered in scarlet armor is the head of the Takeda Clan, the “Tiger of Kai”.
One cannot see what his facial expression is under that mask of a helmet and the tone of his voice offers no help in discerning his intentions. In the past he has partook in the frontlines of battles and acts of diplomacy in defiance of the Bakufu.
However during the battle of Uedahara, the magical barrier around Fuji was destroyed, and as a result he and his troops received a devastating attack from the Kamikui. Shingen blamed his overconfidence in his own strength for the attack that left his rear troops with no means to deal with the attack.
Since then, Shingen has been secretly at odds with the miasma that spouts out of Fuji and the Kamikui. However, during the battle of Uedahara he was infected with a seed. No thanks to the miasma that the sea of trees unleash, that seed would later blossom into a treacherous disease that eats away at his body.
Due to all this, Shingen has left his old aspirations, adopted a defensive stance when it comes to battle, all as a means to keep himself in check.
In his current state the only justice he can serve is to ensure the protection of his country’s people. He is beloved and highly revered by his people. Yet the one thing he does not disclose to anyone but his close chiefs is the crippling disease he bears.

As the ruling god of thunder, he gallops across the lands faster than the human eye can see, creating afterimages of his horse-like figure. People that have befriended him call him Raijin-sama, but his true name is Takemikazuchi no Kami. Not only is he the god of thunder, but he is also the god of swords and sumo wrestling.
As the black horse of roaring thunder, he has a sharp expression and an intimidating sense of speaking which means he sometimes ends up scaring his friends without meaning to. However his true personality is very tender and sincere.
His close companion Fuujin believes this is fear is caused by Raijin’s clumsiness, but Raijin himself tends to think “I bring the thunder, it cannot be helped if they fear me”.
Long ago in the war of gods, Amaterasu gave Raijin great responsibilities, and he produced results that would not be topped even by the Susanoo whose powers of war exhibit the strength of the gods.
In their youth, Susanoo and Raijin would often play together.

He gets along with Raijin, warmly watching over the clumsy god of lightning. Despite Fuujin’s gentle expression and demeanor, he is said to be even more ferocious than the thunder god when his anger is aroused. However, there are few who have witnessed his true anger and lived to tell the tale so the extent of his wrath remains largely unknown.
As a living witness Susanoo has described his anger to be "just like a typhoon".
When Amaterasu lived in the heavens, during the summer she would stand beside Fuujin to keep cool.
The truth is, Fuujin and Raijin are actually older than Susanoo and Amaterasu. Furthermore, between Fuujin and Raijin, Fuujin is the higher god. He doesn't dislike having his main brushed gently.

While she may be very serious and finds it easy to trust others, this also makes her easy to deceive. She is often swept away by smooth talking merchants and ends up buying things that she does not need. It is said that King Arthur is quite troubled by this.
She is best friends with Gawain, another knight of the Round Table and since coming to Japan she has been fixated on tofu.

Shuten-Douji is not actually his real name, but rather the name of the leader of bandits who raised him as a child. Ibaraki Douji (who was known by a different name then) was raised alongside him and they grew up as siblings. However, as the bandit leader began to act less like a bandit and more like a man protecting his family, the young man's disappointment grew.
Eventually, in a night that would rock Kyoto to its core, the young man killed the bandit leader and assumed his name, becoming Shuten-Douji.
Keeping no company except his own, he traveled the land committing deeds of violence and mayhem. Challenging giant Youkai where he found them and paying no heed to the damage done to the surrounds.
He enjoys a cup of sake after his villainous deeds.

In truth one of the Kamikui, Ifrit battled against man and god in the Great War.
However, the might of Ifrit soon drew the ire of his fellow Kamikui and after baring his teeth to their leader during battle he was struck down with friendly fire and left for dead. He was nursed back to health by one of the gods fighting against the Kamkui.
It seems that back in the times of the great war he could speak the language of men, but since joining the side of the gods he has sealed that part of himself away. By the time the Great War ended, the God whom Ifrit called a friend had spent his power and left this world. Rampaging across the lands in desperation Ifrit was eventually sealed away by the Greater God of Kumaso’s Sakura.
For reasons still unknown, Ifrit’s seals have recently fallen away and he has been released back into the world of men. An aimless search for his old friend from the time of the war led him to Onigashima.
After a chance meeting with Kintoki and her open heart, he quieted down and eventually travelled the lands together with her. Now his heart has healed he allows people to be sat atop his back without complaint.

Within her small body lies a large heart and while she acts like the meddlesome older sister of the Four Lords, she actually has a rather sensible personality.
Kintoki herself always intended to be 'just a little strong' amongst the other girls, however there are eyewitness reports of her lifting an arrogant Yagyo and throwing him from the ring carelessly with one hand during a sumo tournament in Kyoto many years ago.
Her strong point is her great cooking which she frequently treats her companions to. Her number one dish is Kinpira burdock.

Summoned to this world through our heroes 'Divine Possession' technique, Asura is the deity clad in the flame of righteousness.
He is the ruler of one of the 6 Deva realms, continually fighting to protect it. While his speech may be rough and boastful, his spirit is overflowing with the justice and he will not forgive wicked or twisted deeds.
The halo on his back burns brightly with a flame of a spider spinning its web, and when it stretches forth it greets sinners not in benevolence, but in judgement, to burn them in hellfire for eternity.
As Momotarou's body is used to manifest Asura, there are times when his personality starts to come out during the possession.

A young woman from lands more distant than the moon, the quadrant known as the 'Cosmic Crux'.
On her left shoulder dwells an ever staring eye bound in a curse of chains and blood.
Although once swallowed by darkness she regained her gentle heart upon awakening and in order to stave off future tragedy she came to wield a mighty power.
Contrary to her kind and beautiful appearance, she is cold to the touch and wears a blank facial expression of nobility due to her past, so it is difficult to read her true feelings.
Since she arrived in Onigashima, her left shoulder has been in search of 'something' dwelling in this world.

A legendary swordswoman both revered by some as a God and reviled by others as a Demon. She travels with a mysterious sword known as Yamato no Kuni no Kunimune.
While searching for more ancient blades Musashi found herself following the stairs of a fellow sword collector's warehouse down into the basement. There she found a skeleton with dried blood pooled around its feet clutching a blade. Taking the blade for her own, she set off. However, before she knew it, it had changed her.
The blade had been used by uncountable masters and had tasted blood of humans, Youkai and even creatures from the great unknown. By the end, it had been bewitched. And now, so has Musashi. While at heart she remains the same honest, brave swordswoman she now changes in battle, continually lusting for more blood.
Yamato no Kuni no Kunimune still follows her loyally, and her skills remain untarnished, but her hobby of drawing is now sometimes done in blood.

Passing through her strict training, Izuna has become a fully fledged Miko. Recognised by the Kominu of her shrine - Ajou and Unjou - she can call on them, as well her other Youkai friends during battle.
As her power grows, so does her confidence, but she's still the same girl who was too afraid to make friends on her own.
Upon hearing about master magician Abe-no-Senmei she enrolled to be his apprentice but without success. However, without giving up Izuna went to Senmei's house every day, placing an offering of fried tofu upon his doorstep. When the offerings passed 100, Senmei conceded defeat to her persistence and taught her his ways. It seems that Izuna named her paper-dolls Kata-chan and Shiro-chan!
As mark of her power, and how much it has grown, Izuna developed extra tails - which means three times as much brushing! She ties to comb the knots from Ajou and Unjou's tails too, but she rarely succeeds.

A young fox-like girl who was left in the city by her dying mother, Izuna carries around the pain that loss in a magatama.
After being bullied by other Youkai for her habit of breaking down into tears, she developed into a shy, introverted girl. As a result of that, she was taken in by a small temple her mother had dealings with in the past. While working as a Miko at the shrine, Izuna became intimidated by the overbearing Komainu guardians - Ajou and Unjou - and ran away.
Once again finding herself in the big city, Miko unexpectedly meets our heroes. After making friends and gaining a little more self confidence, Izuna returned to the shrine she fled from to face her fears.
Our heroes were her first friends, and as such hold a special place in her heart. She resolves herself to join them on their adventures when possible.
As her mother was a powerful fox-spirit, much of this power has been passed down to Izuna. However, seems oblivious to the power she wields.

Their virtuous queen and performer of sacred rituals, Himiko is the ruler of Yamataikoku. She is the elder sister that her people yearn for. Himiko is an oracle of legend, and has a younger brother named Nashime who worked as a diplomat during Yamataikoku's foundation.
Himiko was chosen as a sacrifice to the Kamikui and was thought to be dead, but miraculously resurrected.
As a result of this, she can correspond with spirits and has the divine protection of the gods. She can freely use the 'Way of Oni' sorcery and in combat she is feared for command of the arcane. When Kaguya mysteriously appeared in Yamataikoku, she was raised with great care by Himiko with the same standing as Himiko's younger brother, Nashime.
From a young age Himiko led a life entirely of ritual and rite, without knowing the struggles of an ordinary, earthly life.

A genius inventor who favours machines over meals. While her home is in Edo she is often travelling the lands to further her research.
She makes a living creating and repairing machines. In fact, the blimps and observational devices that can be seen flying around Edo were commissioned by the Shogunate and made by Gennai.
However, her moral compass points due North and she hates the idea of machines being twisted so she occasionally clashes with the Shogunate. Eventually, when no other engineer could assess and repair the mysterious robot Benkei she came to know to Yoshitsune and Shizuka.
It seems like besides engineering, she's also a Western scholar, a traditional drama performer, and an avid writer of pulp stories.
She is close friends with an expert of Western Medical studies, Sugita Genpaku. The two are famous in Edo for their eccentric hobbies and personalities.

Sarutobi is a Kouga-Ryu ninja but as her master Tozakawa Hakuunsai has pointed out, her skills have developed in such a unique way that she's become something else entirely…
Apart from the fact that she was picked up by Hakuunsai, not much is known about her. Not even her birth place. What is clear is that she hates the Tokugawa and their top ninja, Hattori Hanzo.

He obtained immortality by bathing in the blood of a mighty dragon known as Fafnir. However, he missed a spot on his back, which remains mortal.
As he is of noble birth, his personality and behavior reflects a certain level of class. His fatalistic view on life seems to have something to do with his past.
The 'Azure Sword Balmung' he wields sparkles a brilliant blue not found in our realm. Though he's carried it through countless battles, the blade bears not a single mark. The elegance in his swordsmanship is nothing short of perfection and rather awe-inspiring at times.

Though she dislikes conflict, she has considerable magical powers that she wields with grace and beauty.
She wields the Spring Staff Venere, a living staff which quickly withers away if it leaves her hand for long.
As she can only remain in this realm for a matter of minutes, she would much rather spend her time enjoying the sun-warmed breeze and local flora rather than battle. When allowed to, she'll wander the lands in search of new and unfamiliar flowers. The existence of blue roses proved to be quite a shock.
